It should be similar to your super CPU in benchmarks, but cheaper, colder and more efficient. At least is what I hope from I7 :)

Ah, the Vantage score shows both GPU and CPU scores...The Moo is obviously talking about his 260M GPU score...

Monopolizing a conversation is not polite :D

    thanks paladin

the CPU can affect how the GPU performs as well. I know the i7 has a impact on Xfire and SLI systems on the desktop. I was looking for any affect on the performance but i am at a loss now

Well after Alienware's fail with it's 9lb notebook without switchable graphics (geez, all they had to do was refresh the m15x and make it sturdier), I'm officially interested in the W860CU. Now, just gotta wait for those ES CPU's to pop up on e-bay and for rjtech to make it avaiable.

According to Justin@XoticPC "At this time only the 280M will be offered. To give you a hint the pricing will be $1,6xx for the 8690 with 2GB DDR3 1333MHz, 250GB, GTX 280M, WIFI, Bluetooth etc.."

Thanks for the article, I'm sure they'll do a good job with the review, as they did with the M860.

Plus, just to get the records straight - this thing comes with an 260M, but certain services offer the 280M too. Or is it vice versa?

FullHD on a 15.6" seems to much to work (programming) =/

What do you think about it ?

P.S. : Does XoticPC offer AZERTY keyboards (French or Belgian) for these models ?

It will depend on your own preference whether Full HD will create an image that is too small, but most of our programmers like it because it gives you so much screen real estate. Then, you can also increase your DPI (font size) and Icon size if the text is too small, and still have the advantage of Full HD when you want it for viewing video or other purposes when a high resolution would be helpful.

AZERTY keyboards are available from any Sager reseller by special order, but they are not returnable.

Yes you can...it just won't be shipping until late October.

You can get the Full HD without the Fingerprint reader in early October, but if you want either resolution with it, they won't ship until late October.

Noticed it too, while running through all websites for W860 prices...

The best price is mySN, but if considering also keyboard it's a little high...

The M17 just dropped and with 3870 Xfire is cheaper and faster than W860!!

To me, 15" and 17" laptops are completely different classes that I couldn't compare.
Still needing to choose between a 15" and a 17" shows I haven't thought clearly about what I need yet. If you know that traveling with a 17" isn't gonna be a problem for you in one way or another (most likely because you won't be moving around with it too much) then I would always go for one. However if you need to be mobile often and extensively, then a 17" shouldn't really be considered.

My advice shavenrat is that if your thing of buying one of these is to really consider which would best suit your lifestyle and then forget that the other barely exists as it won't suit your purpose.

For me, I'm often mobile and when I'm away for more than I night would not leave my laptop unattended - burglars get everywhere in London. A 15" was a no brainer to me - I couldn't care less for others who brag out their 17" powerhouse. No matter how good it was it would never do it's job as well as my M860 does.

If you take into account Windows , WiFi and a GTX 280 rather than a GTX 260 then that's not the case.

I also decided that a 15" is best for me (or better a 14" but no one makes one for gaming). Now I can't decide between the great M860TU and the new W860CU. Crap.

Same laptop is 100 euro's cheaper at MySN compared to Kobalt(exchange rate is currently 1 pound = 1.11 euros). Then again, Kobalt has 280M and the MySN version has 260M. Still, it would be 1800 euro's, plus shipping and plus taxes in my country(there's a large chance I would get 'caught' trying to import a laptop from the UK to the Netherlands, and I would have to pay taxes on it again) which would make it a lot more expensive.

Neither is bad and even if one of them has just become outdated it's been around for less than six months and is still a champion notebook. And hey, I prefer it's modest, presentable looks.

Sweet job Neil. Take it that you guys working late again as it's NDA night... ;)

Man I can't wait to get money through for one of these. Any price drops on the M860's or chance of a sale coming up?

Thanks for your mantra Oiad, and I really need to take a decision about that:

Until now I'm used to the (relatively) great XPS M1330 (as u see in my signature), but for a needing of gaming NB i have to go in the next category.

The Inch of the screen are relatively not enough to judge a NB, but I'm considering also dimension, weight and price.

The list of possible NB, from smaller to bigger is:

    M860 364x268.5x29-41(mm) 3.2kg ~1300E
    W860 374x263.5x29-42(mm) 3.3kg ~1550E
    M15X 378x308x48.7(mm) 4.3kg ~1650E
    SXPS16 385x254.6x24-31(mm) 2.9kg ~1200E
    M17 397.5x299x45(mm) 5.35kg ~1500E

The difference in dimension between W860 and M17 are 23x36mm...is this so big???The weight is pretty bifferent although...

The M15X is too big, heavy and pricey (hugh), the SXPS 16 is still in my list b/c has the best monitor ever (!!!), and the M17 is just cheap for a 17" with that configuration...

So of course I have problem choosing screen size, brand and notebook!! And have problem also with limited budget...

If you compare the exact specification - stock screen, 2GB RAM, DVD, WIFI 5300, Bluetooth, Windows HP, 2 year warranty, 320GB HDD then mysn are £1405, our price is £44 cheaper and we have the 280M as stock GPU instead of the 260M!

As shavenrat just mentioned we’re all in the EU so there’s no import or extra VAT on anything whichever way something is shipped.

Yup, plenty of late nights in this business but that's why Pizza Hut exists :D I believe there will be a small price drop on the 860TU in the next few days.

Yeah I just noticed you are right. In the configurator it sayd 1640 pounds, but when checking out it says 1520 pounds. Making it 1690 euro's for the 280M. Which would make it slightly cheaper if you factor in the 280M vs 260M. Sorry, my bad.

That's 1405 euro's, which would make it 1263 pounds in that case. Anyway, that doesn't matter. But misreading the prices in your configurator does make it a lot more interesting. And there's not extra VAT? Hmm, that's good to hear, I always thought you had the pay extra taxes, no mather where the laptop comes from. Just one more thing, do you have a different electrical socket compared to the rest of the EU, or will the standard charger work here (I mean, you'd have to buy a converter, if you would import a laptop from the USA)?

    mySN only ask +170€ ! (+154 pounds)

Otherwise if you have AZERTY keyboard, I could also be interested by buying my W860CU at kobalt :p

I think everybody is going to pricecheck every possibility xD

P.S. I hate glare screen but I think I will have to get used...
