Update on Radeon 7970m (Sager/Resellers)

Ordered mine 5/15 and just got notice that it has been shipped with an ETA of Friday. Pretty freaking excited!

No Killer wireless for me.

Just got my tracking number. Ordered two P150EMs on May 2...both with matte displays and one with the killer wireless and the other with intel. Both with 7970m. Should be here tomorrow

I ordered 5/30 with LPC Digital, keeping my fingers crossed. I already have the Samsung 830 and killer 1103, so am just waiting on 7970m

 

Just ordered mine:

Vortex III 17.3" (P170em) - i7 3720QM, 16Gb 1600Mhz, 7970m, Crucial 256Gb SSD, 1Tb WD HD.... plus Razer Orochi + Kabuto, Sennheiser PC333D G4me, Black HD eTray..

Didn't go with the killer wifi either, as it wasn't clear whether I would get bluetooth if I chose this, and my mouse supports bluetooth so I wanted that, so went with the 6235 instead, should be good enough

Should all be arriving on Saturday, can't wait!!

 

So are shipping notices still incoming or did I miss out?

 

I am curious on this as well, but any update on my order would be awesome.

 

There should be alot more Xotic mentioned they had several hundred tracking numbers.

 

The killer card doesn't have Bluetooth. The 6235 does. The 6235 has 2 antennae for wifi and 1 for Bluetooth, where as the killer (and intel 6300) has 3 antannae for wifi for higher transfer speeds (450mbps vs 300mbps) in addition to software that allows prioritzation of your programs and their bandwidth.

 

The reason I'm curious is I have next day shipping so if it shipped yesterday and I don't know and I'm not home for the shipment that will not be cool at all

 

Mine got moved to Phase 3 because of the matte screen I ordered so that delayed my order.

 

I emailed Michael from XoticPC, who rocks btw, about when I could expect my order that I place last week on the 6th. Here was the response...

I placed my order May 10th and switched payment methods June 4th. Today I received a notice on my order to call Xoticpc for confirmation. Alison informed me that there was 7970 ready for the computer and that they were actually having the Matte screen I ordered sent to their offices rather than sending the laptop out to receive the screen upgrade. Excellent news!

With everything in order, I asked about a possible ETA. Alison's response was about 9-14 days for Sager to ship to Xotic, and then another 4-7 days for the screen, and then another 4-7 days to send it out. She estimated around July 10th I should receive the computer.

I like Xotic, they're helpful and are available to answer any questions I have. However, be warned that ordering one of these laptops means you might end up waiting quite a while, 1-2 months, which is leaving a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Yes the first delay was me getting my payment in order, and yes I know the 7970m situation sucked for everyone involved, but it's going to take more than a month since payment to receive this laptop and that's the bottom line.

The good news is I will be getting this laptop soon(tm), that Xotic is keeping me apprised of any updates, and I'm sure it's going to run like a boss once it's in my hands.

 

I'm Confused, so Xotic pc does not build the laptop on site? They have to send them away for screen upgrades, etc?

 

Xotic isn't a builder. They're a reseller. Sager builds the computers and Xotic does some of the extras like custom skins, thermal compound upgrades, etc.

 

I just received another status change notice to Phase 2 with shipping address verification from XoticPC.
But I've already received status change to Phase 2 on May 22nd.
Confused..

 

I emailed Xotic but haven't got an answer yet if I should be expecting a tracking number. I'm beginning to lose faith! lol

 

I'm sure they're pretty busy right now. You're probably just going to have to wait and see. It shouldn't be much longer either way.

To those who recently have received another status change notice to Phase 2 with shipping address, it's just another confirmation and your product is rolling down the production line.

We started shipping with the AMD 7970M yesterday, but there are a TON of orders to catch up before we can ship new orders. It will probably be a couple of weeks or so.

Unfortunately no one can know which orders are shipping until we see them on the Sager daily production report. Once they show up there, they will typically ship that day, or the next business day.

I hope that Sager does overnight to the resellers?

 

I only started production yesterday and it was shipped by the end of the day. I'm guessing Sager has pre-built a lot of them last Monday.

 

if you didnt get any custom skin upgrades or keyboard upgrade, your laptop might ship to you directly from Sager's warehouse.

 

No they do not do overnight to the resellers.

 

Correct with one exception. The Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN + Bluetooth™ 4.0 Combo Card only has 2 antennas.

 

All tracking have been updated for orders shipped yesterday, more tomorrow!

 

as stated by paladin44.. the current Bigfoot's do not have Bluetooth, at least not the mobile cards

do keep in mind that the newly released Bigfoot Killer 1202 coming with the new Alienwares is going to support and comes with Bluetooth so waiting a while will pay off if you want low latency and Bluetooth in one

 

Actually, Alienware already had BT support with the 1102/1103 already, they just used a different module for BT.

 

Oh in that case the 1202 comes out with eternal internal Bluetooth for all machines

 

I thought the resellers had control over deciding which ones were priority. Isnt that the case? Or are they just randomly picked up by Sager themselves or may be in the order each reseller reported it to Sager? Just trying to figure out how things work at Sager and how you people keep track of the laptops.

Well it sounds like it's random cause I ordered mine before people who reported getting their tracking numbers and I haven't gotten mine. My order was pretty standard too. Kinda annoyed since i'm on a time sensitive schedule

Lets not jump into any conclusions and wait for any of the resellers to respond. It does seem to be some what random from what I inferred from Palladin's post but may be we interpreted wrong or he phrased it wrong. Everything will be clear once a resellers steps in to sort things out.

 

I'm pretty sure they do this randomly, but it is possible to depend on how much you customize it

p.s. does anyone upgraded their screen got the tracking number?

 

I upgraded my screen and my order has been sitting at Phase 1 since May 21st. Haven't had any updates yet.

 

I ordered April 30th and got an upgraded 95% matte screen. Still no order update either. So much for a preorder

Guys please show some patience the cards have barely been in 1 Day @ Sager. There are thousands of orders in and no one can expect each order to ship out exactly by order date. Sager often does runs of models, so for a day they may work solely on 9150's and then the next day 9170's. Or they may split them up as they see fit. Outside of that they are done by order date. Keep in mind if a model has a problem it has to be addressed and re-tested. This can happen where you will see orders ship after your order date or as explained above.

You all gained by pre ordering as orders are shipping, surely you all can see Sagers are the only ones shipping plus they were the only ones that started shipping weeks ago. You are all in good hands

Everyone wants their order ASAP so to say someone with a sensitive date is treated with higher priority cannot be done.

I upgraded it to the $30 Matte screen, not the 95% NTSC. I also kept the sager thermal paste, did not get an OS and didn't upgrade the wireless card.

I would think upgrading any of those would increase production time.
