They ship directly from Sager, unless you ordered some customization Sager doesn't have, in which case it goes to Xotic first, then to you. That's why various things not they'll add 7-10 days to your build time. Those are things Sager themselves won't do, so it has to be shipped out to the reseller for that.

I did the same thing, but I would rather have that extra HDD bay and the bigger screen for a small premium. I think over all I will be happier and wont mind waiting an extra day or two because I got bumped in line due to ordering a different model.

As mentioned before I think it is silly for anyone to complain about shipping order as the 7970M has only been shipping for 2 days. It is not like someone who ordered yesterday is getting a tracking number. Be patient, and understand this is a hectic time for the manufactures as well.

If you don't want to pay tax they ship to xotic first, then to you.

You are crazy if you think xoticpc/sager hasn't seriously considered all options for fulfilling orders and tried to choose the best method (and especially for thinking a business doesn't know what FIFO is). They're a successful business... They didn't randomly choose how to fulfill orders and obviously understand how important it is to their company. If you have a better method for this I'm sure they would love to hear it in PM. Perhaps you have figured out a faster system that will help everyone get their laptop faster and they will give you a job. Or perhaps you're just over simplifying a complicated problem that is obviously a huge part of their business...

    hear hear

Sager/Xotic sounds like they are definitely going about it in a professional way, personally i have been waiting for almost a month now and am happy to know that i will be getting a quality product that won't bust up on me due to rushed manufacturing processes.

Also a "model-a-day" type of thing as one of the Xotic guys mentioned could make a lot of sense too. Repetition in tasks enhances speed so it could make sense to do all one kind of computer one day, all the next the next day as it'll make the motions faster rather than switching from order to order.

I'm quite sure Sager is far more concerned with speed than fairness. Whatever gets computers out the door the fastest is best for business, not making sure everyone gets their computer in a "fair" order.

Well you have to figure this backup has been building for over a month. There is only so much you can do at a time. It is going to take a little while to work through the thousands of orders.

There is a reason the Dell's, HP's, and even Apple do not actually their own manufacturing anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is clustering of similar configurations as well (same CPU, GPU for example).

That's not uncommon for items that are in transit. If an item is being shipped in a truck across the country, a drive that can take several days, the tracking won't be updated while the item is buried in the back of the truck. It will only be scanned when it's loaded onto the truck, and later when it is unloaded, generating updates.

Sager gets the new tech first because they are their own importer. Mythlogic will also not be getting their cards until next week. Malibal and Mythlogic must rely on an outside importer to receive the cards and then have them shipped to them.
If one were to order a laptop that has the parts all released already, there would not be the gap in delivery time.

Last update was a couple of days ago saying they would have the video cards delivered yesterday. Also informed us at the start of the week that by the end of this week all orders would have an updated ETA.... nothing yet.

I am not trying to be too hard on the company, I dont want to give the impression I have been wronged by them because that's not the case.

They just have not shown even near the customer service of Xotic PC. Also it's quite obvious now that Sager is given priority from Clevo as Xotic received their shipment almost a week in advance.

All I am saying just being honest is I would not purchase from Malibal again.

I bet a lot of people read this forums and think "What a bunch of Whinny Dorks, it will be ready when it's ready". For them to say that they are 100% correct, however fact is whom else would pre-order a laptop and wait 6 weeks + for delivery aside from a dork?

Yes we are going to be impatient and if your in the business of building laptops like this you need to understand that yours client base, and structure your customer service accordingly. Something Xotic PC has done, and Malibal has not.

Always have say here on the forums, frustration is natural especially since things have been so wonky with AMD and different resellers hierarchy. I think Xotic is a good reseller, not necessarily better than others, but for this round of computers they just got lucky and were able to ship computers out. I bet Sager doesn't have a preference on who the orders are coming from. Not like they favor Xotic over some other reseller that they get orders from.

By the time we get our orders, our computers are going to be obsolete anyways :D

No tracking number, but Michael contacted me and let me know that there was an error with the notification that had been posted on my order. Which I was always curious why my order said "Shipping to Xotic PC Nebraska plant to avoid California TAX" when I live in Nebraska, not California. lol

There were a number of shipments again yesterday however Sager's tracking Database has some problems and their auto generated emails to their Dealers have not been sent yet. So many of you will get tracking numbers hopefully later today for yesterdays shipments. Sorry for the delay

I couple you have commented on Sager and the latest tech, this has been the case with Sager getting allocation first on new technology for several years now. You will hopefully start getting tracking numbers next week.

I'm confused about the 7970m driver installation procedure. On one side paul1ow from pwnpcs says that you have to install the intel 4000 drivers then the AMD and then in the manual for the 9150 it says that "the AMD and Intel video drivers will be installed together. Therefore, if your system supports AMD video, you only require the single driver installation procedure"

Can someone clarify what exactly needs to be done, so I don't mess this up

They are both installed together. There should be one button to click to install both the Intel and AMD Drivers together. That was the case for me, at least.

Did you pay by wire transfer? If you were paying with a credit card, I do not think they charged the card until the 7970M came in. i originally had the NP9150 and payed by wire transfer, went to phase 2 and then changed to the NP9170. I then gave my credit card info at the same time for the balance, but the card was not charged until yesterday moving my new order to phase 2.

If you payed with credit card and they already charged you, it means they started production of your laptop and will be done in a week.

Nuts...I originally ordered a 9150 from Xotic on Apr 30, and paid by check (immediately cashed). When I found I was going to have to wait for the Radeon 7970, I asked if I could switch to the 9170, same configuration, without losing my place in line. Was told yes, so switched to the 9170 on May 30, paying the difference with credit card. Just yesterday, as others here were announcing their shipping and receiving dates I was told of a credit card problem, so I submitted an alternate card. Today, I'm still in Phase 1, although "waiting for parts" has been changed to "payment pending". On the phone I was told that it still hasn't gone into production, and when it does, it won't ship for 16 days, and then will take 10 more days to arrive (to avoid the CA sales tax).

Granted, this is partly my fault for upgrading to the 9170 and having a credit card snafu, but it's still a long wait...middle of July at the earliest for a purchase I decided to make in April.

    I need a new hobby...
