The original shipment with the AMD 7970M is already allocated to pre-orders, so new orders will have to wait until the next shipment sometime toward the end of this month.

Correct me if I'm wrong Justin, but isn't that screenshot provided by Sager itself.. which would mean the card hasn't yet reached you and it is still with them?

    Justin,

Once your systems are back up, will we be able to check our place in the queue (as well as see if we make the first or second shipment?). I was told my order was priority but I don't know if that means I make the first shipment or not

Heh, this thread started out as Malibal having the cards on the 11th but it looks like the other resellers will have them first. Hope no one placed an order with Malibal based on the 11th date they floated out there.

Yes that is correct, customers who pre ordered get first allocation.

I will post some more benchmarks as they become available from Sager. Sager is doing this testing and providing the details. (Since the card is still going through QA @ Sager)

    That is correct :)

I am sorry with the vast amount of people that have ordered we are not able to assign numbers or advise where a customer is in the queue of orders. What I can tell you is orders will go into production in the order they were submitted and shipped once testing is complete. :)

If you look through history here on the forums this happens with every release, there are some that jump the gun. :( Sager has always been the first to ship.

I am sorry unfortunately there is no way to tell until orders start going through production. Orders will be shipping as I replied above to thegoods81 above. :)

The way it sounds to me is that Sager is finishing the first shippable builds with the 7970M. So, the resellers will be getting them if they do redirect them to the consumer. If they don't need to physically touch them, then it sounds like Sager can ship it direct to the consumer.

As for the builders, like Mythlogic and Malibal, they would probably waiting for one of the companies acting as importers/suppliers to get them the raw cards themselves (ie Sager, ProStar, EuroCom are the ones for North America). If Sager already has them, then I'm sure the importers/suppliers are in some stage of getting them to other end-builders. So, for them, there is the added intermediary to go through. That all seems to jive with the timeline, as Malibal quoted the 11th as the earliest-possible date for builders to get the cards. Sager looks like they indeed did get the cards on that timeline as they've finished their initial build process already.

Nah, Malibal explained that they were a builder too in a thread a while ago. I think the easiest way to differentiate between the two categories on the surface is that anybody who offers a brand logo other than Sager (or unbranded) is a builder.

OK, I am really happy. I am hoping that since I ordered on April 30th, that's early enough to get me in the first round.... *crosses fingers*...

To be honest, I was literally about to cancel my order with xoticpc tomorrow because I couldn't wait any longer. Now I feel like a total jerk :( Thank you *so* much Justin, you have made my night with this!

If you are buying a Sager then Sager builds them unless you have some unique upgrade only offered by the reseller.

Also, just because you have ordered prior to today does not mean that yours will ship from this first shipment. The first shipment is totally allocated, and it was allocated according to the order date. So, if you just ordered recently you may have to wait for the next bus.

As Justin said, no other builder or importer will ever get any model before Sager does.

We were the first company in the US to ship the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M (Kepler) Cards... so as I've said before, don't believe everything you read on the internet. ;)

P.S. We never said we planned on shipping the 7970M cards on the 11th... we said we expected them to arrive on the 11th, and if that were the case - we planned to start shipping orders the following week. :)

You came back, MALIBAL! I was hoping you would. Though, I suppose you never left, otherwise you would not be responding. Anyway, please stick around.

I've been waiting for some sort of follow up on this May 11th controversy. Do you have the cards in hand or are they still in transit? Do you expect to begin shipping next week?

Exactly. Anyone can come on the internet and claim they are the first at whatever. You can make the claim yet have no way to back it up. My company was the first to ship GTX 660M Kepler cards. Now, prove me wrong.

We started shipping the 660M cards on May 9th. Here is one of our customers who received his on the 10th or 11th: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...y-p150em-ib-processor-660m-any-questions.html

Now all you have to do is provide me with evidence that you or some other company in the US shipped the 660M cards sooner than the 9th, and you'll prove me wrong. :D

And here your proof is something that was posted on the internet.

Try again. Oh, and by the way, the Asus G75 was on sale at my local Best Buy's over two weeks ago and it happens to have the GTX 660M (Kepler).

Added: The first review at Best Buy on the Asus G75 was on 4/26/2012. So much for being the first eh.

Saying that they were expecting the 7970m on the 11th was just a marketing strategy to lure buyers to buy from them instead of the more popular resellers/builders.

To be fair, I think he was stating they were the first to ship them amongst Clevo/Sager builders and resellers, not all laptop manufacturers.

Personally, unless a seller was weeks or months ahead of everybody else, it doesn't matter much to me. I can wait a couple extra days.

anyone can review something on best buys website the second its posted. also anyone who buys an asus from BB is an idiot because BB has cheaper versions made for them so that their prices remain competitive. Asus wont even repair laptops purchased at BB. you have to go through BB to get it fixed

Hi there! Thanks for the support. You should come check out our new forums. We have a nice little community... that's growing. :)

Hi Ego! We aren't going to release anymore info until we begin shipping the cards, which will be very shortly. Once we do, we plan to send out emails to all of our customers who preordered a 7970M, to let them know when they can expect their order to ship. :)

Yes, of course I was talking about the first to ship a 660M in a Clevo... Frag knows this - he just didn't want to concede the point. ;)

This thread has been derailed enough so this will be my last post directed at you. You claim to be "inactive" but yet make a post to take a jab at Xotic and Power Notebooks. Your post CLEARLY stated first COMPANY and not first Clevo reseller. There is no ambiguity there. Like a car salesman you like to word posts so that you can backtrack on them later. Your mantra is "don't believe everything you read on the internet" and your customers are liars, other reseller are liars, everyone are liars except for you. In short, there is nothing to concede, you took your jab, you got called out on it, now back track all you want.

Mine and Donald's point was clear that any item that Sager lists has always been the first to shipment for years, period. :) It can been seen in several posts in my history or any veteran posters that have witnessed it first hand.

    Hey Justin (Xotic),

Any news from Sager on the 7970m? Are we shipping today?

I ordered from you guys a while ago and I cant wait to get my computer (suppose to be one of the first out with the new card). It hurts so bad not being able to play Diablo 3 ! :) haha

Oh and thanks for the updates yesterday. Much appreciated. Very consistent with the level of customer service Ive been getting from Xotic.
