Update on Radeon 7970m (Sager/Resellers)

Justin does your team plan to test the 7970m in older models such p150hm?

I am sure they will be tested eventually but with the huge amount of orders that need to be shipped, unfortunately this will take highest priority. Feel free to shoot me a PM or email and I would be happy to put the request in to be done.

Agreed. But then so is throwing a temper tantrum in the public eye, insulting potential customers, and now essentially calling out other more reputable companies.

 

Don't forget claiming to be "inactive" but continually lurking/responding! FFS, either stand by your statements or remove them. That, in and of itself, is very telling.

Alright guys, can we try to stay on topic? All of these points have been discussed before, not a whole lot of sense in bringing them up again right? Looks like we're finally going to be getting some updates on this elusive card here in the next few days, no one wants this thread to get locked!

I am very much very excited, I just moved into phase 2 and apparently my laptop has gone into production ^____^ Oooh I am so excited.

I have to admit this is one of my favorite parts about ordering a laptop - the anticipation. Getting status updates, awaiting with bated breath while it gets assembled... It helps that this is going to be by far the best laptop I'll ever have owned. I mean.... Ive Bridge processor, SSD base drive with HDD drive for storage, and the 7970 which is currently the best mobile GPU on the market. Sure, it'll only be the best mobile GPU for like... a month or something, lol, but I'll enjoy being at the top of the tech chain while it lasts xD

Also feeling really happy I have 2-day shipping, particularly since I'm in Maine and I'm pretty sure the laptops ship from, like, California. So if I'd gotten ground it would be taking a while to traverse the country. 2-day, on the other hand, only takes 2 days

Any news from Mythlogic? I sent two emails in the past couple days and haven't heard a peep back.

 

Yup, he actually came to me and asked me for my order number. I suppose they're getting it figured out now.

 

I'm worried...I got an email this morning about my order, placed on April 26, that said, "We wanted to inform you that the HD 7970M incoming shipments are currently being allocated. We ask that you please allow 24-72 Hours for processing, and you will be contacted by a member of the Xotic PC processing team. After processing production times are estimated at 4-9 business days. Thank you again for your patience during your wait for this new GPU."

Sounds good, except my payment status still shows "Order Pending Payment", even though my bank said my check was cashed over a week ago, so I don't know if my 9150 is on hold or not.

 

Darn! I tried to cheat and pay for a rush production and they told me that they are not offering the service at this time. I'm sorry for trying

 

Hmm... I never got that email yet. Is that the generic email that is being sent to everyone who ordered a 7970M? Ever since Justin contacted me and then he never replied lol. guess they're really incredibly busy right now.

 

I think so, I got that email too but my order is still in the "waiting for parts" stage.

My order has gone to phase 2 just about 30 minutes ago. They contacted me through phone to verify everything. I think they are just incredibly busy with all the verifications they have to do.

 

I did not get that e-mail either. My laptop had been mostly in phase 1 (waiting for parts) since they had processed my wire transfer, then I had some correspondence with a sales associate because I was having some issues with the uncertainty of the waiting time. I was actually considering canceling my order when the 7970 units finally came in last night - pretty glad I didn't do that.

Anyway, I received my first "official" status update today sending me into phase 2, stating that my laptop was being sent into production, and that production times are currently estimated at "3-10 business days". I'm, uh, hoping for three but I won't be furiously disappointed if it turns out to be 10, heh. I know these guys are probably freakin' SWAMPED with Sager laptops to customize and put through testing and quality assurance and whatnot.

I have to think that this whole 7970m debacle happening simultaneously with new Ivy Bridge models being released all over the place *in addition* to the Diablo 3 release probably means that there are a LOT of people buying gaming rigs right now. The 7970 units are probably just one part of the reason why places like xoticpc are swamped with orders right now.

Well, just got the notification that I am indeed on the list for the first batch of 7970M's. Glad Xotic PC actually approaches their customers

 

Just so most of you know I have reached out to many of you just to make sure that you were in the allocation batch. We expect to have a good amount (our goal is all ) pre orders ship by end of next week. Some maybe trickling into the following week based on testing completion.

It has been a extremely busy last 30 days with Ivy Bridge and now the 7970M. Thousands of orders will be completed through production this week and next. Then onto new & current orders...

 

Oh no, no chance of getting my laptop before Memorial Day? Damn, but at least I was in the first batch ^.^ good 'nuff

Yeah, I wanted to echo this - I really appreciated Justin reaching out and sending me a PM to personally check my order and let me know I was in the first batch. Really put my mind at ease and it feels very nice to have a retailer meet with the consumer on these boards, which kinda feels like "our" turf, in a way. There's something cool about that.

Also, I think that most of us in the first batch have a decent shot of getting our orders shipped before memorial day, at any rate. My birthday is around that time, so I'm hoping to get mine before then for obvious reasons.

 

Yes, hopefully dancing on a table with a lampshade over my head has increased my chances of receiving my P150EM before Memorial Day.

 

Hopefully they get more in soon. I ordered from XoticPC pretty recently, on the 11th, so I doubt that they'll have the parts for mine now. I just need to get it before too long in June so I've time to test it and customize it for my trip. Mom wants my old laptop which puts a squeeze on things .

Probably should have just gone with a 675, but I don't buy new laptops all that often, once ever 2-3 years, so I want high end so it'll last a bit.

 

As for people freaking out about some reseller having inactive accounts but still posting. It's a free forum and a free country. If they want to they can post, a warning that an account is inactive clearly just means that you should not expect a response. Do you think there is legislation in place or something in your constitution that prevents someone from addressing a client base on a review forum even though you list your account as being inactive voluntarily?

I just don't get some of the expectations people have here... MALIBAL can post if they want to, if they couldn't a moderator would ban them.

Yay I got the email to so just waiting for mine to switch over to phase 2 XoticPC has bean great keeping us informed the way they have on the forums. I too can not wait to get my hands on this laptop!

 

My XoticPC order changed to "Phase 2 (Sent for Custom Building/Testing...)" back on May 3 and my credit card was charged. Does this mean I'm in the first allocation? I haven't received any subsequent email...

 

I've heard the 675M was pretty heavy on demand as well, so I don't know if you would've even got your laptop anytime sooner with the 675M

 

Don't worry. They'll be here soon enough - and we'll be getting our laptops! I've got the utmost confidence in Mythlogic. Those guys are solid. Can't wait to get mine!

 

I placed my original order at the deferred shipping time, then placed a new one April 30th for the 7970 from Xotic. No email today and I won't be on the first shipment... I'd like to thank whoever told me from Xotic that a money order would be faster than a personal check. Payment still isn't cleared yet, they have to wait the full 14 days for a money order so I won't make this shipment cuz it hasn't been the full 14 yet.

Edit: Never got an email but I did go to my order status on the webpage and it has the same info that the others have. I was told I would still miss out on this shipment though. Hopefully that changes. Crosses fingers!

 

Don't feel too bad. Xotic cashed my personal check 9 days ago, and my order status still shows "Order Pending Payment"...

 

Hmm... I really hope I get moved to phase 2 soon. I really need this before Memorial Day D: and I can't afford paying the extra for any faster shipping
