All right! I got to Phase 4!
Am I the first?
-
-
I missed Phase 3 ENTIRELY though. I ain't even got a darn clue what phase 3 was!
And in terms of delivery... let's do some quick research and math here... Out of a total 3,094 miles to travel (clear across the country from SoCal to Maine) my NP9170 has thus far gone 2,926 of those miles. Leaving a scant 168 miles until it gets to my hometown. Those numbers are approximate using google maps, and they're actually based on roads not air travel so they may not be *totally* accurate but... close enough.
Now I just get to feel slightly annoyed that the 2-day delivery shipped on Thursday and arrives on Monday, not Saturday. I'm actually wondering if it will *physically* be at the local UPS station, and if it is, whether I can just drive over there and pick it up. I've done that sort of thing with FedEx around here before, but not UPS. And I'm not entirely sure it will get here tomorrow, but I think it will. It already left the hub in Kentucky and arrived to a very close by location about a half hour ago... And I believe it gets driven up here tonight, unless I'm very much mistaken. It might just chill where it is until Sunday, in which case I've got no options anyway.
edit: Crap. I hate UPS. Their customer center is closed on Saturday and Sunday. This is why I'm a fedex fan - they stay open on Saturdays! Oh well. The wait... continues... -
grrr stuck in phase 2 and i got moved too late, so my production actually starts monday
qq but at the speed they're shipping these laptops at, i should definitely 100% get my laptop before memorial day. at least if they manage to build & ship my entire laptop on monday -
Most of us will never see phase 3. It's only for custom skinning / painting. The rest of us go from phase 2 to 4.

Yuuup phase 3: I figured if I'm gonna pay 4k for a laptop, I'm gonna make it my own. So I stitched up an image to be skinned on the A-surface. http://jforrestfamily.com/images/a-surface.jpg

If I receive phase two email on Wednesday, Is it possible to receive unit by next week?
-
rawr I bet on the wrong horse
-
I feel your pain, egoistmusketeer.
-
Does xoticpc build on Saturday too
-
Yeah, it's lame that the 675m's arrived sooner than the 7970m's.

Though I do not know if this is the wrong forum to ask:
is IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU worth the extra money over the generic stuff? -
Woot. gettin shipped next week, plus upgrade to free diamond thermal compound, free color calibration and free upgrade to 2 day shipping.
-
Nice, be sure to stick around and tell us how it is
-
And yet I never really bothered to visualize the thing the entire time, really. I mean, I knew it was a mobile GPU, and they all look comparable, but... yeah. Part of me imagines it to be this shining golden magical thing, but in reality, this exciting piece of hardware that's currently at the top of the mobile GPU market looks to me like a circuit-board with RAM, processing unit, and heatsink. Like every GPU. And I have no real frame of reference to tell what makes it so special based on those pictures, really. -
(not bad considering they're not past their advertised May 24th timeline really
)
-
oh well sticking with xotic pc -

I agree! Lol

We started shipping 3 days ago and are sending more and more every day. We expect to be through hundreds of orders by end of next week and nearly caught up, not just starting. (Thats the goal anyway
)
EDIT @ Anthony, I tried shooting you a PM but you must not be able to send PM's yet, if you can shoot me a email and I can take a quick look at your order and see what updates you have received so far. -

I still cannot properly express how thrilled and psyched I am at the fact that my order went out on Thursday. At the very least, xoticpc has me as a repeat customer for all my future laptop needs, in addition to solid recommendations from me. Actually, I had been recommending customers to them for quite some time anyway, just based on reputation for customer service and awesome prices. Now that I've had my own positive experience with them, I can continue to do so *with conviction*.
Although, I think the fact that my laptop is going to be sitting in a box at the UPS station 5 miles from where I live all weekend, *not* being delivered, may in fact drive me to insanity! I mean, c'mon! I hate the concept of "business days", particularly since I don't work a traditional schedule anywayAlthough, this makes the parallel to Christmas even more apt - I just have to imagine that the UPS station is the Christmas tree, and my laptop is sitting under it, and I am merely forbidden to open it until the appointed time. Except arbitrary business customs are deciding the appointed time, rather than the arbitrary birthday of some guy who may or may not have been the messiah over 2000 years ago. Yeah. Well, I guess most things in life are pretty arbitrary, when you get right down to it...
In any case. The UPS guy shows up at approximately ~2PM every day at my residence, so by that calculation I've only got ~61 hours to wait until my laptop is delivered. Well, to be more precise, that's more like ~3,645 minutes to wait, really. Actually, ~3,644 now. Really, it's ~218,580 seconds as of *now*. That doesn't make it sound so bad, actually. Just approximately two hundred and eighteen thousand five-hundred and eighty seconds. And counting. It'll be here before I know it!
edit: Upon re-reading this post, I am starting to think that now that I know precisely the day and hour when I'll be getting my laptop, I may be overcompensating for the two and a half weeks when I had no solid idea whatsoever of when I'd technically be getting my laptop. I think I might just be a bit OCD about this stuff. Maybe. >_< -
-
You know something, I've been there before to pick up a package that I missed delivery on later that same evening, and it was really a joke. At our FedEx they have stuff like security, and a customer service desk where you walk up and check in and how your photo ID and *then* get your package.
Not at our UPS, though. You drive up to one of several big truck openings, and all the packages that didn't manage to get delivered that day are just sitting there, out in the open, unguarded, on a big pallet. Some guy from the other end of this wide-open-air warehouse yells "Hey, what's your name? Ok, yeah. Do you see your package in that stack?" Then I sift through some and find mine. "Ok, great. It's yours. See ya!" And that's it. It was honestly hilarious. I could have taken any package. Or several. xD
That said.... I don't think it's worth it on a risk/reward basis, if I'm *technically* doing something illegal, ya know, rather than something just idiotic. -
. I will pm you my order.
-
Mine just entered phase two with a credit card payment.
But I still wont be getting my hands on it till July when my friend comes over to India
-
*chuckles*

-
Alright, it's the end of the week. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that Myth gets those 7970m's today!
-
-
-
lol always wanted to be the first to write up a review of the laptop, but I guess I can settle on being one of the first.

Say, Justin, if my order went into Phase 2 yesterday at like 1:30 PM CST, is it possible that it'll be shipped next week?
-

You might want to look at UK/EU resellers, as you will still need to pay VAT importing it. Also the cost of shipping back if there are any issues would be pretty high. Not that there is anything wrong with with US resellers.
-
check out my EU reseller thread in my sig.

I'm regretting not ordering from mythlogic or xoticpc. Malibal didn't even bother informing me. Found out through NBR. Called in and they can't even give me a straight answer. Very disappointing.
-
-
I think he is talking about the 50$ discount for joining their forums.
Are Malibal still providing free shipping? I think they are not providing it for NBR members currently.
