I don't think you can drive this to work or school... (unless it does come with a warp core)![]()

On the other hand I have personally killed two running desktop drives, one by jumping cat, one by violent sneeze...
My point is they are pretty rugged with the heads parked, but running and dropped, we could bet on the winner. -
The NDA is lifted, but as I said this model only comes in July, a month after the others...
Yeah if they are off no problem, screen will crack first...but with something small like this you may run around the house with while on, at least I do with my W11.
AFAIK the cheapest 1TB SSD is the Crucial M500 for 550$ -
-
Specs are all known, what do you want to know?
-
I want to know:
Is it a true 765m or is it an underclocked 770m?
Does it have an mSATA slot?
Does it have a backlit keyboard?
What kind of battery does it have?
Is it a matte screen?
How many watt is the power supply?
Do you know if the power supply is the same size as the last year models?
Are there and known dimensions and/or weight numbers? -
I want to know the weight in pounds of the laptop and power supply.
-
Full on 765M
Yes mSATA (SATA3)
Yes Backlit (Chiclet Style, not programmable, its just white)
Like Watt Hours? Don't know yet
Yes, Matte FHD/13.3"
120W Slim
Don't have weight or dimensions yet -
Is it a true 765m or is it an underclocked 770m? GTX765M 2GB DDR5
Does it have an mSATA slot? yes
Does it have a backlit keyboard? YES
What kind of battery does it have? IDK
Is it a matte screen? FHD, glossy or matte is up to the vendor.
How many watt is the power supply? 120W
Do you know if the power supply is the same size as the last year models? They call it slim adapter, whatever that means
EDIT: Got Ninja'd by Myth -
Awesome thanks guys, last question, is there any word on pricing?
-
Thanks to both Prema and Mythologic for shedding a bit of light on the details. I am still deciding whether to build a mATX "mini desktop" (which would be my first desktop build) or buying this laptop over the summer. It looks very promising and will be a tough decision between the two. Do I either go ultra portable with some GPU power, or stationary with limitless choices? My wife doesn't seem to care either way, so she has left it up to me. She just doesn't get to use our laptop very often and has to use our tablet for browsing.
If I build a small desktop I was thinking of getting a new GTX 760 or 770 and running it stand alone, but still have another PCI slot for possible SLI in the future. I like the idea of a challenge and welcome the opportunity to learn quite a bit through trial and error. I am going to wait until more info trickles out to decide. Any input? -

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
you got to be kidding me! 3 sodimm? are you sure its not a typo?
and thanks for filling those out -
-
How does the 760m compare to the 560m? I need something lighter to replace my NP8130.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
given that the 560m competes with the past 640m/645m and that even the intel igpu wins against that, you are bound to receive around 2x performance
-
Yes, price and dimensions and weight would be nice. It would be nice to know if there will be support for Windows 7 as well. And card reader?
-
MMC reader? They make laptops without those? yea there will be one as well -
VGA is back?!?
Anyone still use it? I would rather Thunderbolt or something -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I guess they envision people taking this round a lot and needing an easy connection for older devices.
-
Gentlemen,
I stopped lurking and made an account to tell you all thank you for all the work you do getting the info out to the world.
I travel and do a lot of presentations on not super new equipment and I can say that I am excited about the VGA port. I cannot wait to leave my G73 at home, she has been a warrior for three long years, but it is time to go the the land of the HTPC that can play 2 year old games on medium. Thanks again! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can get displayport to vga adapters to be fair.
-
It comes with Windows 8 preinstalled? Since when..
-
I'd be most interested to know things that require access to an actual finished device like: temperatures, cooling system, keyboard/trackpad experience, whether the LCD uses eDP (if so, what are the tolerances on panels, i.e. would I be able to fit one that's 8mm too thin and 7mm too tall), is spdif through a combo port, then weight and thickness. Someone let me know when that information appears? Thanks
-
Will it also have 150W slim adapter? Just like W110ER where it got two options 90W & 120W, just in case not enough power.
So Prema, what is it about the 600MHz/700MHz that you mentioned before?
A different clock of the GTX 765M? -
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
and thunderbolt is finally getting more products out of the gates, there are I think 4 docks for it now, 3 released and the one we are still waiting is the sonnet one.
and that for me is the main benefit of it, aside egpus if I go for something that doesnt have one. usb3 docks are fairly limited -
This is what I would use Thunderbolt for! -
Will this computer have room for just one hard drive, like the W110ER?

Will any resellers have an option for a lower res screen? yeah I know a shocking suggestion! :0
A 1400x900 res would be better for my old tired eyes, My friend had that in a older 13" SONY laptop and it was perfect for it's size. -
I was wondering the same, but likely a 1600x900, it is 16:9 form factor. To be honest I might consider a 1600x900 screen if it were a good quality one.
-
Or maybe it was 1600x900:confused2: It was perfect for that size whatever it was
Anyway like you said it would great to have options as long as it's a goog quality panel. Don't know man 1080p in such a small screen might be too much for me. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
1600x900 is a good balance at that size, it should not be too hard to read.
-
Just wonder if that will be an option. Although it will be hard to choose 1600x900 when I know I can get it with 1920x1080. I like lots of workspace, but at that screen size and for gaming it may not be the most ideal.

Nothing stopping you from putting your own in.

I suppose someone might let you send the screen in and have it fitted to a machine you have ordered.

Btw, new contender :
Gigabyte PC revamps include game-ready Ultrabooks, AMD A4-based tablet (hands-on)
P34G 14" with optional FullHD IPS, GTX 760M.
~1.67kg (w/ Battery and m-SSD)
~1.76kg (w/ Battery, m-SSD and HDD)
GIGABYTE - Notebook & Netbook - Notebook & Netbook - P series - P34G
P35K 15.6" with optional FullHD IPS, GTX 765M.
~2.16kg (w/6-cell battery)
~2.26kg (w/ODD and 6-cell battery)
GIGABYTE - Notebook & Netbook - Notebook & Netbook - P series - P35K -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The 15.6 inch has dual vents but is very big.
I cant see any vents on the 14 inch though :/ -
So we have the following competitors:
Asus G46
MSI GE40
Gigabyte P34G
Lenovo Y400
Razer 14"
Clevo 230st
All have pretty much the same specs (the difference between 765m and 760m is just overclocking according to notebookcheck)
Quite frankly I find 14" or a slim 15" ideal for work and gaming. 13" is fun to carry around but not too good for more than 1h of work.
Y400 is heavy and even though it packs the biggest punch in GPU performance, having anything below 1600*900 for screen resolution is absolutely unacceptable.
G46 is way too bulky and heavy for it's use
Razer is remarkably attractive but you pay a hefty price for such a beaut.
That leaves us with gigabyte, msi and clevo
MSI looks so cheap with it's plastic build and the useless CD drive, it's not even funny.
Gigabyte looks very average, reminds me of their u2442 and has no thunderbolt which is quite a bummer but not a deal breaker.
Can't wait to see that backlit keyboard -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
All of them are different shapes so it depends on what you are after.
-
You can see the vent on their video :

LOL they stop making comparisons when it comes to specs.
-
They forgot to add
"Yeah the CLEVO might not be slim and sexy but it only is 2-3 times more powerful because you can get a GTX 780M!"
Slim and sexy only can get you so far. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well the 780M is likely to eat more power than that whole machine....
W230ST - The 13" We've been waiting for!?
