IT IS DONE
I'll be collecting and paying for my P150SM with 780m in about 2 hours, everything is in stock I just need to pick her up (so long as the bank doesn't object to me putting >£1000 on my card at once.......
(yes, after all said and done I couldn't help myself, despite it making sense to get the 770m and save £200 or get the W230ST and save even more I just, didn't listen to myself, or I don't know, the green fog of power decended and I was happy for it to cloud my vision..............)

Maingear's Pulse 14 laptop: Haswell and a GeForce GTX 760M starting at $1,299
I am hoping that if companies continue to drop their own compact gaming laptops it will force the w230st out a little sooner. -
Thats the 14" MSI laptop but custom. I am sure more vendors will have them soon.
-
That CD drive is such a waste of space. Way better things could go in there.
-
I agree. These days there is no reason for taking up space with an optical drive especially on smaller notebooks that strive for top performance.
-
Well, again this depends on personal use. Sort of like do you still need VGA? Hopefully the CD can be removed for other devices if you have external or not needed.
My 13" UL30vt is slim and heavy but Asus could not fit a slim CD drive in there. Amazing Clevo found the room so must be wee thicker than the UL30vt? -
Well said. I just realized that there is a hdmi to vga adapter....I'll just show myself out.
-
VGA doesn't consume a bunch of space that could be used for other things much more critical like larger battery, extra cooling, or reducing thinness/size of laptop overall. Very little if any software installation uses an optical drive any more. Nobody uses CD's any more, and if so you just rip them, only thing that it might be used for is blu-ray player, and for a 13-14" machine I can bet that use is a very low percentage. Any of this can be resolved with a USB optical drive anyhow.
This 13" Clevo does not have an optical drive, the 14" MSI does.
HDMI to VGA adapters are big and bulky, not just a cable. I agree VGA is an old standard, but it's still in wide use. I've come across lots of times that I'm glad I had a VGA connection. -
LOL, Then I'll show myself out.

VGA uses up a lot of valuable edge PCB space actually.
-
I don't disagree, but it also doesn't consume 1/3 of the area of the laptop either, and it's apples to oranges. One consumes valuable real estate in a performance laptop that could improve performance and/or cooling and/or weight and/or size. The other consumes a small amount of side PCB space that has little to no affect on the performance, cooling, weight, size of the laptop. It's like if you're shopping for a performance sports car and they had to offer a 6 cylinder 400HP V-6 to accommodate luggage for a family of four when it could have had a 700HP V-10 if it had a trunk to carry no more than a set of golf clubs. Sure you may have the odd small % that wants to lug around their family of four on vacation in their Porsche Carrera GT, but large majority buy it for the performance. Otherwise you go buy the Cayenne.

Well all these models could have had 2 display ports to support 3 external displays and people could have used DP to VGA adapters instead but we don't get that as the VGA is taking up that space...
-
I don't disageree, but what does that have to do with cooling or performance or weight of the laptop?
-
does anyone know if the i7 4750HQ 4850HQ AND 4950HQ will be available instead of the i7 4700MQ?
also in what are the differences with the 4700QM vs 4700HQ when they are same spec? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
HQ chips are BGA only so no.
-
Any new pictures to share of this engineering marvel?
-
I wonder can I shove the screen from a lenovo yoga in this 1600x900 ips would be perfect on this beast
-
I'd go the other way, fit a 2560x1440 display or greater (they're now in production but not cheap). Only issue then is it's on par with my 27" desktop monitor and I'd feel the need to upgrade that
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can't generally upgrade the class of a display without changing the cable/motherboard connection.
Class 1: 768P
Class 2: 1440x900 -> 1080p
Class 3: Beyond 1080P or 1080p 120hz or IPS -
Interesting I guess I have to get higher res ips
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well like I was saying you would have to look for another machine since this will "only" take up to the class 2 I listed.
-
Quite right, assuming it's eDP then if it's 1.2 and only a single channel we're limited to 1080p displays, but I can always hope for a little more, even 2 channels would be enough for me but I guess it's something to ask when builders have the device in hand
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
2 channels requires more PCB space and chips though.
-
I really wish we had a price estimate, trying to decide if I should wait to buy this or buy the GE40 now. My budget is $1200.
-
thanks. i was kinda hoping the intel 5200 was available for more performance when intel grapics was in use thus saving the power from the nvidia. well at least i no not to mess about in hope it wa gonna make it at some point.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
That cache eats power though
-
Is this going to be a 1920x1080 screen? Or 1600x900?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's believed to be 1080p.
-
i thought that RQ is bga whereas HQ just has a beefed up igpu?

The first of it kind at 1080p? Pretty cool
-
Not the first 13" at 1080p for certain.
-
i think sony brought the first fullHD 13 incher several years ago.

I know. I was just messing around. There are very few though.

nice find.
- 4 CPU options (including the 37W 4702MQ)
- 1920x1080 and 1600x900 available
- 2x SODIMM (16GB max)
- 1x SATA, 1x mSATA -
someone buy this and review it on youtube please.
also prices will be very similar to the 15.4 base models. i have no proof but im very certain based on what i learned from accounting in college. -
Definitely my next laptop!
-
It says 3x Mini card slots, whatever that means
3x Mini Card slot
- 1st WLAN Combo Half size Mini Card with PCIe and USB interface
- 2nd for mSATA SSD Full size Mini Card with SATA interface
- 3rd for mSATA SSD Full size Mini Card with SATA interface or 3.75G Full size Mini Card with USB interface
AND WE FINALLY HAVE DIMENSIONS! YES!
330 x 227 x 31.9 mm (13.0 x 8.9 x 1.3 in)
2.0kg (4.4 lbs)
Wow pretty nice. Not even as thick as the W110ER. -
yea, was wondering about those mini card slots too. dang thing is about the size of my netbook, just a little wider.
3900 Zloty is about $1200 US. That's base with no RAM, no HDD, no WiFi, no OS, 1600x900 screen, and the 4700MQ. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
and the battery, btw what was the battery size on the w110er?
I like the weight, wish it couldve been a little bit lighter. its really a great notebook, If I wasnt so enamoured with the blade, this would be it, its the best mobile notebook of 2013 -
yay that means i already get 1st hand experience to know exactly how it will feel in my hands before all of you even if you buy it before me. my current laptop is 322 x 228 x 30.9
weight is 1.74kg vs 2.0kg, but the trade off with a 6630m vs 765m i wouldnt even notice the extra weight
that also means should be able to raid the msata cards then? as apposed to buying a 512gb or 480gb at bigger cost cos 256gb would be my choice. -
It looks like the mini card are a different form factor than just mSATA so regular mSATA may not work. I dunno.
-
true there are half size msata that are basically the same size as a wifi card but not nearly as fast as standard...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Mini card perhaps refers to mini-pcie.
-
The entry price listed on that site is 900€. Considering direct conversion of euro to dollar that would make it 900$ for lowest specced model.
I configured a model to 1200€. Nice notebook. -
Bottom of that page it says model will be in stock monday july 15th 2013. I guess we have our launch date, now all we need are pics of the internals, reviews, and little tidbits like how many eDP channels there are ;D
-
Where did it say 900€?
3900.00zł is ~$1200 USD @ 900p screen, without RAM, HDD, mSATA, Wifi card, or OS.
Just to bring it up to 1080p, 8gb RAM, 750GB 7200RPM HDD, Wifi and OS it'd be nearly $1600
I hope this website's pricing is way high.
But I decided to buy a Y410p today anyways. Got too good of a deal to say no, dat military discount. -
Well international pricing isn't always an equal exchange when it comes to technology. Some technology just demands a larger price since it's in a different market, so it's hard to convert. I was expecting $1200 base price, but not with 1600x900, it sounded like 1080p was standard, perhaps the 900p screen is a downgrade cost reduction.
-
It should be highly in demand so I wouldn't expect it to be any cheaper, although the problem with that website is they don't have any other Haswell laptops so you cannot even get an idea of how the pricing is. Direct currency conversion means nothing really.
Hopefully more websites will start adding the laptop.. I cannot wait any more.. -
wow, it looks beaaaautiful, dayum! why didnt clevo take this exact design and applied it to its 15/17 inchers instead of that wannabe aw/rog bling bling crap?
