3DMark06? That's not even close to the ballpark. At least look at gaming benchmark differences and 3dMark Vantage at least
3DMark Vantage
335m: Score 3014 / GPU 2624
650m: Score 9540 / GPU 8131
Modern Warfare 2
335m (high 1366x768): 34 FPS
650m (ultra 1920x1080): 63 FPS (they don't even test on high)
Metro 2033
335m (med 1366x768): 24
650m (med 1366x768): 62
Crysis
335m (med 1024x768): 38
650m (med 1280x720): 72 (based on my benchmarks)
Dirt 2
335m (med 1024x768): 41
650m (med 1024x768): 100

335M is an older 72 shader part that just can't keep up, the clocks and memory bandwidth are low combined with pairing against a 386 shader chip it is a loosing battle.
-
Fair enough, 3DMark06 scores you'll see over double the performance, 3DMark Vantage you'll see x4 increase, and in gaming FPS you'll see (depending on the game) ~x2-x3 bump in performance. But really since the card inside has yet to be disclosed it's all speculation at this point. To avoid getting into an argument here, yes, I completely agree with you that whatever card they put in this machine it will be a huge upgrade over a 335M.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's likely going to be a refresh on the 386 shader part, might even be an identical chip.

Oh I think it would be in a 13" machine and like you say with the higher res display. Unless maybe we see a cut down GK106 chip? Depends if AMD can offer something that pressures it or they have extra chips with bad units.
-
Wish they could do something like what the lenovo system i just brought with the ultra bay and adding a second Gpu card for sli. That be awesome.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's a bit small for that along with a single 670MX being a much better option at that point in terms of power and cost.
-
My best bet is either a 650m or 640m equivalent Don't see them putting in a 670mx which it does need if they using a 1080 display.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I think 660M equivalent, the SLI thing though like I say is better to include a 670MX since its more reliable than some option bay.

Does anyone think Clevo is really going to come out with a new battery for this 13"?
All their current 13.3s use the same 62.16w battery that's in the W110ER. Going up in screen size and resolution while keeping that little battery... the idea of it makes me rethink waiting to get the W230ST instead of the W110ER. -
Who knows. 62WHr battery should technically get 4-5 hours use with Ivy (Haswell now) + nVidia with Optimus. I don't think you'll get LESS battery life between the two. In any case I'm sure the chassis is configured differently so it will likely be a different battery. Possibly 80WHr. But we won't know until they tell us.

This laptop will have GTX 760M 2GB GDDR5.

Ugh, hope it isn't another 384 shader part. Knowing nvidia it's probably a rebranded 660m though.
-
I think they know what will sell. More detail soon on:
BLUEMOBILITY
Now we need to know specification this chip from nvidia. -
Notice there is a 765m.
Quite possibly:
760m is somewhere between 660m and 670mx with more cores than 660m and 192-bit?
765m could be a rebranded, maybe slightly faster 670mx.
770m could be a rebranded, maybe slightly faster 675mx.
and 750m is rebranded 128-bit 384 shader 660m? Makes sense to me. Make it so! -

When Clevo has the shells ready and when Intel has Chips to put in them.. MAY be two different dates... So they may be "ready" but uhh with no CPU its not going to work well.
/me wanders back out of this thread...... -
Haswell is due out beginning of June. I'm sure Kepler refresh will be before that, so they will likely have the machines ready, but as mythlogic states, they gotta have the CPU.
-
That's awesome to hear. Getting in stock of everything but the CPU hopefully means quicker release. Not sure if I can wait four months on this! C'mon nice matte screen, long battery life.
-
How about the usb 3.0 break fix for the chipset, is that going to come out at the same time?

I call 760M = 384 shaders (basically like the 660M) and the 765M is a cut down GK116 with around 500 shaders and a 128bit mem bus down from around 900 and 192bit.
-
No optical drive... hoping they used that space for some 100wH battery, given that they didn't add any thermal capability over the 11.6 (no 60w GPU). No mention of another 2.5, memory slots, no better GPU... no shots of the bottom of the unit. If they just put another fan or more heatsinks down there, it'll be really disappointing. Hot only matters if something fails, gets too hot to touch, or gets noisy, which the W110ER didn't do anyway, not to mention the new CPU and GPU should both run cooler anyway.
-
Maybe it's 256-bit!
So essentially same lineup as now. That's a bit disappointing. I was really hoping for 192-bit. Something a little extra for higher res. But who knows, I have no idea legitimacy of that website either. -
You can find some images of the unit on the following page ( W230ST images start with # 13): Gallerie für CeBIT 2013: Schenker zeigt neue Clevo Gaming-Notebooks mit 4. Generation Intel Core Prozessoren und Nvidia Geforce GTX Grafik
...oops guess these ones were posted before -
nothing really interesting to add. but im keeping tabs on this thread. was really wanted to get the w110er. but only on the cheap. im still rocking my lenovo e320 with 6630m and that still has warranty till end of this year. and now that i am moving to a larger place. i will have a spare room so i can make a nice space of my own to pc game again. but i honestly beleive it will be gpu performance of about 670m is my bet. im liking any resolution above 720p so dont even mind 900p instead of 1080p. as long as cooling is good i dont mind. if it is only one fan to cool both then there should be room for msata drive, definately. my lenovo is 13 inch with msata aswell.
bit disappointed that it just looks like a bigger version on the w110er but as an 11" machine suited it perfectly. i think maybe a few dedicated keys would of been nice. -
That's one downfall of Clevo designs. They use the same keyboard on 15 inch and 17 inch which negates part of the reason for having a 17 inch notebook, a full sized keyboard with more buttons and/or better spacing. Although the keyboard looks a little difference on this W230ST.

-
Don't be surprised if the new SM laptops go up for sale with Ivy Bridge at first.
-
I do hope it has a higher wattage GPU than the w110er. As much as I'd like a 13 inch screen, At anything more than 900p, I want something faster than a 660M. The 650M is enough at 768 but if they are going to up the resolution they really need to up the graphics power by a corresponding amount.
-
no speculation needed anymore soncerning the screen, its gonna be full hd as mentioned before

Oops, I had not read that Intel did away with their usual backward compatibility, until I did a Google search just a moment ago.
Nevermind that idea. -
saving this to read later, cant wait to see more about this laptop!

I want something that's usable at work on my desk and a 13 inch 1080p display is perfect... unless clevo refreshes the np6110 before the end of summer with a faster gpu lol

Really like the design of this machine although from the angles it looks alot like the y400 series with its long angled edges for its sides like it is. Im exited to see where this goes and what the back of the LCD design they go for as well.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
Im hoping that this comes with:
1) good quality of materials and construction, along with good fit and finish
2) they actually put some work on their mobos, so that they dont gobble that much power when unplugged
3) that it comes with one of those asian models that they always showcase products
4) it comes with good battery life
5) decent touchpad
6) quality screen
7) great keyboard, backlit is a plus not a necessity
that might make drive away from the darkside -
