Common now you know we can't do pricing on the forums =P

Just because something is comparatively more expensive doesn't mean its still not cheaper.
To further the example, if someone else was "charging" on their site: (Note all numbers are examples, and not reflective of the real world, disclaimer disclaimer)
4700 - $383
4702 - $383
They would be the "same price" and have the "same cost"
But if someone else was say
4700 - $250
4702 - $330
Who's the better deal -
that's a mighty massive router price for my pockets
-there are other well-regarded options on amazon's best seller list that come much cheaper, but i don't know if there's much of a sacrifice in output/connectivity.
Amazon Best Sellers: best Computer Routers for instance
-second, is it a certainity that i'll i have to use the w8 operating system if i purchase the 7260? and furthermore, would my purchase of the 7260 still be justified if i didn't buy the router you suggested? -
7260 will be better than the stock Broadcom or Realtek or whatever crap they give you on a BGN card. For $30 you will get a solid consistent connection. Otherwise BGN is BGN. If you want ultimate speed, then AC is the way to go. You're looking at 10MB/sec BEST with N and so far getting about 40-45MB/sec with AC. So I guess the question is if the cost is justified for you.
-
i'll definitely have to read up more on what i'm getting myself into.
if anyone knows of any budget'ish ac routers out there, please send em my way. -

LOL fair enough, I'm just looking forward to not having to use a Windows RT tablet as a daily driver any longer.

Anyone know of a nice and light messenger style bag for this laptop? All the retailer options seem to be for 17" laptops.
-
Hey guys, a couple of questions:
- Are there any resellers for this laptop where the word "gaming" doesn't appear anywhere on the website? For obvious reasons.
- Mythlogic, why does your configurator recommend getting a hard drive? Any reason not to leave the hard drive bay empty and just get 2 mSATA?
- Are you resellers silent on the questions on the 900p because you're not allowed to tell, or because you don't know?
-
LPC-Digital, XoticPC, Mythlogic all look very professional. You can check out RJTech.com. -
he might be wanting to write it off for a work expense or something, doesn't want the boss to see 'gaming'?
-
Getting the laptop through work, and don't want to raise any eyebrows.
Resellers should have some professional-looking pages dedicated to us CUDA/number crunching people, because these are increasingly important use cases for GPU notebooks. It doesn't help convince the suits to have aliens and race cars on the pages where you're trying to buy these notebooks.

ac router: gonna wait for the RT-68U, and 3x3:3 mPCIes
Temps are awful if the Sagers come out the same... definitely going to wait to hear about wingnut's experience before even thinking about buying...
@Mythlogic: I'm ~30m from, but I'm in the same boat with wingnut, your prices are a bit higher and even with a 3% cash discount that 6% sales tax hit + original difference work out to be a fair amt. Only benefit is that I could probably arrange to drive out and pick it up when it was finished testing... -
Since they don't offer the 180GB Intel 525 mSata option, I was thinking about purchasing this seperate and installing on my own. How hard is it to install mSata on this machine? Do you see any negatives to doing it on my own?

One looks like the notebook is crushing the guys hand for missing payments, in the other it's warping space time as a warning

Hard Drive is None (REQUIRES mSATA for Bootable Drive) -
If you select RAID0 it says "Striped set, improved performance, additional storage drive highly recommended." Why is that---in case the RAID0 get borked?

Alrighty, so I'm going from i7-2720QM and AMD 6970... Which do you guys think I should be getting for this new bad boi? i7-4700QM ok? Or 4800? Definitely don't want the 4702 that everyone's been talking about, cuz I'm too noob to deal with the power issues, configs, bios, etc. Please advise?

Been quite a while since I have been on the forum. Back in late 2010 I bought a Sager NP7280 (12GB Ram, 980X, 2x Intel X25-m 160's in Raid 0, and 750GB HD)
Been pretty happy with this machine. It's my 2nd Sager. The first one I bought in 2008. It was a NP9260 (Don't remember all the specs, but it was a Quad 2.3Ghz, 4 GB Ram)
So now after beating the NP7280 pretty hard for almost 3 years, I finally have my first OS crash where I need to re-install Windows. Thinking I may have an issue with one of the Intel SSDs.
So, I take a peek at XoticPC's web page and come across the NP7330 and now I'm pondering replacing my NP7280 & Asus Zenbook 13.3" with this new NP7330.
For the last 2-3 years I have been maintaining one large desktop replacement for software development and a much smaller machine for doing e Mail and billing tasks. It's also nice to just pick up the smaller laptop and take it with me when I don't need to do serious development work. I really like the idea of having just ONE laptop to do all the tasks.
I mostly just push the NP7280 when I'm compiling code. Just not sure if going back to just a Quad from a Hex core will be worth it.
Just wondering what others think about down grading to a more portable machine? -
What are the advantages of ordering from Sager directly vs. resellers, other than customization?
I also need full accidental damage coverage. Does anyone offer it? -
I am too noob for that stuff as well. But as I understood it, the option for noobs who want a cooler running system was the 4702, as this would'nt need under volting and so on, like the 4700 or 4800 with the power issues, configs, bios, etc. I could have misunderstood, though...
-
RJTech offers new leaf service pro accidental with the machine, or you can just buy your own from new leaf service pro or other places like squaretrade. Squaretrade offers a two year service plan with accidental for $225, three year with accidental for $299. -
-
The big question is still what XTU options are available? -
And it costs a bit more, right? Plus, Xoticpc doesn't have it available on their page---what do what do?
-
What to do? Wait to see if it becomes available or order one and install it yourself and sell the 4700. Or order a laptop from mythlogic. Or just use the 4700MQ.
-
-
-
So for the guys here who are pro 4700 over 4702, it appears the 4702 is about 10 degrees cooler than the 4700.
What settings in XTU would you need to adjust to have the 4700 match the 4702 as far as heat is concerned? -
-
I don't care if it runs hot as long as it doesn't throttle. Did LightningPL report any throttling while he was using his.
-
Aw dangit, the UK might be getting the short end of the stick here. Had two major builders (maybe that's the key bit? Any US builders getting stock atm?) say mid August or possibly later. Any thoughts on why Clevo are doing this? Maybe it's expected to be overly popular so they're doing a staggered launch?
