Glad to see some proof that my wait of at least 3 years (and all that slogging to make sure my NP8170 is still usable) is not in vain!

Prema, any idea about AMD MXM Polaris for Clevo?

And it will feel so good once you get a replacement. Should be a nice upgrade whatever you go with.

Thanks! Now just waiting for the right time (and earning enough) to get it!
Will be a real nice bonus if somehow the NP8170 can benefit from these too; right now it seems more sound for me to have another laptop as my spare computer rather than a Q6600 rig (which I currently have at hand; may open separate thread to discuss this in future)TomJGX likes this. -
a 1080(M) or 1070(M) in my P771DM-G and i have almost my Desktop Performance now, just give me a 120-144hz Display (TN prefered, don't do design etc but i like the lower latency from TN) too for my book and i can dump my Desktop for good
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well there are some good things on show for you in the clevo display at computex then
-
Technically speaking can the full-size desktop 1080 pull 4K at 120Hz though? I never got an answer to this.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Yeah, I think some of the benchmarks I've seen were 40 to 70ish frames on a lot of games, depending on the game. Running at 1440p would still look better than 1080, and be higher frame rates.
This video has a pretty good list of games that they benchmarked in 4k and 1440p, as well as comparisons to other graphics cards.
-
Gonna dig up the photos for that soon!
-
well looking forward then i really pray that i can upgrade my NB tho and not have to sell mine and buy a newer model again, sadly my circle of friends already got equipped with my previous models i used and sadly they still work
, i love the P7xx Series but if e.g. the newer cards aren't working or a newer display due to BIOS compatibility again well then yeah i get a bit more than upset
-
I want AMD Polaris MXM

Bit early without any proper results of the chip out yet

@clevo-extreme will the 1080 fit into a np9377sm-a(p377sm-a)?

oh, such a hard-knocked life, knowing and testing hardware under NDA and not being able to talk about it....
jealous!
-

Exactly
when is available or when can talking about this - we do it - dont be afraid.

But hey, the moment they can release these stuff, which is undoubtedly made with much hard work and effort, is one of the best moments they will ever have
(I know that feel; was in a similar situation but of course, not about hardware...) -
does anyone know when this NDA is over?
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
I believe talking about the NDA end date is one of those things included in the NDA not to talk about.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Nvidia will let you know when people can talk about the release date of any future cards as they will be shouting it themselves
-
The first rule of NDA is: you do not talk about NDA.

I typed that out on my last post but deleted it before posting. But it was exactly what I was thinking.

Tell me about it, the pressure ;-) Computex was pretty successful though and there's good things to come, all will be revealed soon (ish)!!! To be honest the worst part if often knowing everything but having to keep by nouth shut, only for information to be purposefully leaked by people who aren't directly under NDA!
As other's said, the NDA includes marketing dates, promotion dates, sale date, product information and everything else. -
So, move the new card away from your face.
I can see your smile from here!jaybee83 likes this. -
Wow, you guys are killing me.. Trying my best not to pull the trigger on one of the 980 models.. The wait continues
-
Any possibility of 6950x?? Or intel next gen cpu??
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Showing off anything new would require a launch from intel, nothing was shown for an X99 machine, you would expect it to be. -

Oh. I can imagine the pain of having a 120HZ gsync screen but struggling to get enough FPS to utilize it. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Anything over 60 fps is still going to be an improvement. Might not be able to push all 120 fps on newer games at 1080, and not 4K, but it would definitely help less demanding games run very smooth. But it also depends on how powerful graphics cards would be.

I wonder then if waiting for Kaby Lake instead of just Pascal/Polaris will be ok...

Few years... for what? Than after this time you can wait for something another
Gesendet von meinem SM-G935F mit Tapatalk -
I thought that it will be just next year?
-
clevo-extreme Company Representative
Clevo dont create Generation for one year. With Pascal i think minimum 2-3 years and after that.. who knows..
Gesendet von meinem SM-G935F mit Tapatalk -
Erm, Kaby Lake is the CPU, not the GPU (that's where Pascal/Polaris come in) though
-
clevo-extreme Company Representative
That's exactly i mean. This is the same way.

The point is that there will always be something round the corner if you keep waiting for next big thing.
By the time Kaby Lake comes out, you could think to wait for Vega, by the time Vega comes out, you could wait for GP100/GP102 then for Cannon lake then volta and so on.
You have to decide what is your cut off time and go ahead with whats available at that time. -
Ah I see, thanks guys!
Let's see how long I will take to get enough money for the next laptop

Generally your own purchasing cycle can remain constant, there are just a few points in time where it makes sense to shift it. Mostly this happens around GPU launches rather than CPU launches.
-
Wow 3 years...
-
So it will be wise buy a used laptop 980 instead of the pascal and 6700k
-
Thing is, my NP8170 is my first laptop (and also personal computer; previously I was sharing a PC with my family); I don't have a purchasing cycle :OPrema likes this.
-
If the pricing is good, that is an option too
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You sort of do as soon as you start looking
-
I didn't think about it that way lol... This means that my cycle is 3 years and still counting
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
For getting a large leap it's not a bad length of time, especially if you get an extended warranty.
Will Clevo be releasing a GTX 1080 Desktop edition laptop?
