Clevo P775DM2-G a gaming notebook that was shown off during Computex. It is confirmed to feature next generation NVIDIA Pascal mobile graphics card, but the exact name of this model is yet unknown.
According to the leaked photograph, this new NVIDIA graphics card would feature 2048 CUDA cores, which is less than GTX 1080, but also more than GTX 1070. So this is likely not the GP104 graphics card that would sport the same specs as GeForce GTX 10 Series desktop variants.
Few days ago PCGamer ran a story that GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 could arrive to notebooks with unchanged configurations. If this picture is correct, then those rumors are most likely incorrect, and we should expect GTX 1080M and GTX 1070M with slightly lowered specifications.
The GPU installed in Clevo notebook features 2048 CUDA Cores, 8GB of memory and 256-bit memory interface. The clock speed is slightly lower than desktop Pascals (1442 MHz), but memory clock is similar to GTX 1070 or RX 480 (8 GHz). -

tempted to pull the trigger on a clevo P870DM-G but i really want to get a pascal GPU
-
It's a true test of patience right now. If you do hold off for the refresh you should have the option for a 120hz panel too. Although the current monitors seem to overclock pretty well.
I've held off getting the 980 mobile. Just using a 970m for now which for gaming is itself has exceeded my expectations.
If I can get that kind of performance taking up 1 GPU slot it will have been worth the wait.
Still.. The waiting game isn't something I like doing.steberg likes this. -
How is the 970M max temp in bench with your new BABY?
-
I haven't really played or benched at all but I played a little Doom to test it for a while and only saw 72 degrees with the GPU at 98% (Prema vbios). The surprising and amazing thing was there was no fan noise. That's also with the CPU at 4.5ghz. I had to keep checking the temps weren't running away because I couldn't hear anything. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't remember my Alienware m18x r2 coping this well (at least in regards to CPU cooling vs sound). From my limited time, I would say the cooling is fantastic. It runs cool without the fans needing to even do anything. So turning this thing into hard unit is going to be exillerating. I've got high hopes and am still thrilled I picked this up. This machine has me smitten. Although there's no competition, it's earned it's rep as #1 for the right reasons, rather than being the least crappy machine one can choose from the sea of Fisher Price BGA man-phablets.
Kind of unrelated, I ran into a few problems migrating data from my old build's HDDs so that's been keeping me unnecessary busy. Ive learnt GPT protective partitions are bad news. More so if you transfer an internal HDD to an external enclosure and expect to pull data off it you won't be able to without serious unnecessary complications - heads up - don't do it!
I've finally managed to retrieve my 3tb's worth of data by the grace of God and alot of 4am nights. I really dodged a bulletLast edited: Jun 23, 2016Papusan likes this. -

Where there is a niche there is a way and Clevo have been in the game far longer than others at this game.

The base clock of the Pascal mobile GP104 card will be at 1442MHz and boost clock at 1645MHz which is several hundred hertz higher than the GTX 980 Notebook card itself. While the memory clock has not been revealed, it can be expected that it will be higher than the 980's 1750MHz probably at 2000MHz.
NVIDIA could then be launching both a full notebook version of the GTX 1080 for high-end laptops such as the ASUS ROG line and a less powerful GTX 1080m for budget and mid-end gaming notebooks. The lack of GTX 1070m reports could also point out that the company will roll out the 1080m laptops first before the 1070m just like the original desktop Pascal cards launch.

I don't think Nvidia are drowning in chips at the moment anyway.
-
Wow... P650RS-G with 1080M GPU.... this is what I'm waiting for. I'm in the market for the most powerful and lightest notebook and this seem to fit it.
Now I can cross MSI GS63 from my wanted list and get this instead.

The GS and the 6xx line have always had different TDP limits for their GPUs.

The GS line has never had a x80m series in it either, just caps at the x70m cards.

Some more news:
http://wccftech.com/gtx-1060-laptop-specs-leaked/
wccf is kind of a troll site sometimes so take it with a good helping of salt but its fun to see.
They mention a full 1060 for both laptop and desktop. I am really interested how nvidia is going to play their cards on the naming and laptop gpu's for this generation.jaybee83 likes this. -

We have been a long time without a propper 60 series chip around launch. The 965m took a bit too long to come out, we will have to wait and see what nvidia do this time.

Well it depends what you think is proper. In my opinion 860m (maxwell) was quite good. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
But they could have done much better, the GM206 out strips the GM208 by a significant margin and can basically fit in the same designs. Never has the gap between the 60 and 70 series been quite so large.PrimeTimeAction likes this. -

I see no sources listed in the article... -
Yep, me neither. Not sure where the author got the information from. Might be a NDA break and he wanted to cover someone.
-
Well even if its only rumor, its more than I've found scouring the web.. my NP6110 is limping along on its last leg and I will be upgrading to a 15" 1080 notebook around the holiday sales. I'm just starting the research process now and was wondering if I was wasting my time looking until after the NDA lifts... now I can hold tight for a month and not waste time looking when no new info is planned to come out.

This thread is just great. A simple question by OP; and people who actually know something for sure are like:

This is different to other launches how?
-

Well for normal/regular cards, its known for sure that these cards will have a successor, the suspense is always regarding their specs/performance. But desktop 980 for laptop was an anomaly and people are not sure if Nvidia will continue this as a trend or is it a one off fluke. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well until they are out it makes no difference as you can't order anything that's not out yet

I'm contemplating making this a part of my signature. But seriously though, anybody who knows anything probably can't wait to talk about it, but can't. We're just excited as anybody else to see new tech.hmscott, Papusan, jaybee83 and 1 other person like this. -
If MSI hold up their end if the bargain with the Titan (gpu upgrades) then I would assume Clevo would want to have something to compete. All assumptions but that's what I've deduced.
-
P870DM will definitely be compatible anyway. Cards are physically larger and since the 870DM can accommodate the 200W 980 then it makes sense for it to fit.
Now the same can't be said about other clevo models..maybe the 770DM might get lucky. -
Yes thankyou... nice catch. I forgot that little detail.. I was referring to the 870DM..

Did they actually promise deskptop class cards or just the whatever flagship card in Nvidia line up.
And larger card in one ODM doesn't necessarily mean other will be following them or it will be anything special. Some of the Asus MXM card sizes rival the size of actual desktop cards.

It's funny that desktop cards are getting smaller and notebook ones larger if the trend continues from the 980 desktop series. We will have to see if they meet in the middle

At which point there can be ....... only one!
I have had a bit of a chuckle reading this thread noting the pointed questions from the consumers and the slightly evasive but promising answers from the suppliers. But on a more serious note I am in the market for a new laptop to replace my current one and I will need to pick it up no later than early November so I am hoping that the 1080 or 1080m will be readily available in time for me to order it and have it delivered by early November. I have got my fingers crossed anyway.PrimeTimeAction likes this. -

On the flipside, they are "testing" the stuff for us too so that we don't exactly have to

Ah the pain and frustration!
On the pascal laptop GPU news side:
http://videocardz.com/62483/mobile-geforce-gtx-1070-to-feature-2048-cuda-cores
Can it be possible?? more CUDA cores for a mobile then desktop!
I have been thinking of going back to desktop . . . but a some fun overclocking on a "laptop" 1070 seems like it could be fun!
**Of course take the rumor with a dump of salt, but speculation is fun! -

I suppose it could be possible, but you are exactly correct where everything is just rumor and not any kind of official specs.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The mobile cards have had more vram so anything is possible but people are best waiting for the launch before making any conclusions.
-
Well when is the launch? Even I have to admit that I'm getting a bit impatient... Come on tell us when the NDA ends
