Putting this on my calendar for that date, to tell you that date is there and the NDA is up.

Yes, that model has MXM and is upgradable. Still waiting to see if any new graphics cards are compatible, but at least you have the option to upgrade it.

Soooo, was it a long mouse reach from the box for today to that day?

Did you need to flip a page, to another month? Or, did you need to flip 2 or 3 pages. o_O

You didn't need to break open a brand new digital year pack for 2017, did you??

    Didya? ;)

We will consider any panel opins that make sense. Of course they need to be mass produced, power efficient, reliable and not insanely expensive.

We're only just seeing OLED panels make their way into the 13.3" / 14" sector - nothing in the 15.6" and up range is in a position in the market at the moment. When they do become viable then you also have to look at integration with the chassis. Tooling currently has to be designed to be compatible with IPS or TN or both, with OLED you would need completely different tooling to both IPS and TN so it's making more financial sense with large volume 2-in-1s and some laptops but it's going to be a nit longer until they become viable in the larger performance models.

Haven't seen anyone offering OLED in "normal" screen sizes yet, wouldn't hold my breath just yet though, even the little ones seem expensive.

I expect we'll see "standard" size OLED panels in the near future. Mostly to be used in "workstation" Dell/HP offerings as design machines. Currently OLED is the only real hope of getting HDR levels of contrast and HDR seems to be getting a pretty universal push by all the big players (Samsung and LG are going pretty hard at it).

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that around mid-August we will get official info. I will go even farther out and say the night of August 15 would be the day/time.

I do not have any insider knowledge but am basing things upon the way things have been done before, the timelines of how long it takes to do things and other things. So, yes, I am making a SWAG here - scientific wild _ssed guess.

Intel IDF is August 16-18. They'll be officially announcing all of the Kaby Lake SKUs then. Which will probably also end NDA on any new systems using both Kaby Lake + Pascal which is probably all of them.

Intel just started shipping Kaby Lake processors to manufacturers, at least that was kind of the news on it a week ago. I don't think there would be enough time for anybody to have models ready in that time frame.

I haven't seen anything on a H type processor, but it is all early leak info. To be honest, I haven't looked in to it much at this point, I usually don't get too caught up in they next releases until they start getting close to launch. Leaks can be wrong, specs can change...

Indeed, from the land of Oz here. I bought my P750DM straight through Metabox. My previous machines were bought through AffordableLaptops though (Metabox didn't sell direct to public back then).

AFAIK Metabox don't have an official rep here though.

I bought my current laptop through P4Laptops three years ago. Back then, Metabox as mentioned didn't have direct sale on their website. And P4Laptops at that time had a better deal than all the other distributors, so I purchased the laptop from them.

Logical Blue One used to sell Clevo laptops as well in Australia. But sadly that they have ceased operation. Metabox is pretty much the only option available now (except for Venom which doesn't have a wide range of choices for Clevo laptops).

Huh? There is a Prema BIOS for the P775DM1. If you buy from a Prema partner of course. Even Eurocom offers their P775DM1 (DLX7 Unlocked) with the Prema BIOS.

The P775DM1 is right below the P870DM.

Technically yes but you can't get access to the BIOS anymore as Prema trusted one dude once and gave him the BIOS then that dude distributed the BIOS as his own work so Prema doesn't blindly trust anymore. Please sell your laptop and re purchase it from HIDevolution who are the best Prema partner

Ah I see. Well, I won't be reselling because to be honest nothing against hidevolution but I'd rather purchase a clevo from a european reseller as I did. Just for my own peace of mind and because I need the laptop to be constantly in a working state, sending the laptop to the USA won't work for me. XMG is superb.

Anyhow, I guess the available vBIOS is of more use to me.

In short, people flash BIOS's or vBIOS's because 1. they expect higher overclocking potential (higher performance) or 2. the new BIOS sometimes adds compatability for new hardware (like a graphics card) or 3. to undervolt their notebook to increase battery life (decreases power consumption and temperature, also sometimes used for overclocking).
