    They will most likely

    1) notify customers and tell them they will get single GPU or give them the option to upgrade to dual GPU for additional cost
    OR
    2) Cancel all the orders at the wrong price

I am leaning towards 2 lol

I really think, when there are some new driver for the 480m the power will still rise a little bit. ATM I only use an inofficial driver because the one from nvidia doesn't work.

Also the recording has less fps than the game creates. And on the other side the RAM is stillt not working perfect.

Mafia II 1920x1080 : YouTube - Clevo X7200 Mafia II Bench 1920x1080 Ultra

If some one can tell me how to open the windowmode @ metro2033 i could make a video of ingame. Or do some one know a good recording software?
I 've testet Hypercam and snagit.

I will do a bench with Just cause II soon.

Lol not to show the performance ... FRAPs will slaughter your FPS ...

Best just to run the benchmark then take a screen shot of the final score..

How big are videos with fraps? Once I recorded ten minutes of quake 3 and got 600MB of video.

Well I agree about the score. That is the point of the benchmarks, the score is objective where watching a video is highly subjective.

Upper1 maybe you should do some runs on the card with a little more realistic settings instead of 32AA :)... Maybe 4xAA max or no AA ..

These cards certainly were not designed to be playable at such settings .... Great effort though and keep at it ...

I'd love to see some 16X AA in action with this laptop. Although with a single 480M that's not quite realistic.

WE SHOULD HAVE JUST STOPPED AT DOS GAMING AND NOT GO ON ANY OF THOSE GRAPHICAL ADVANCES.

Here is the same benchmark, but on an Alienware MX17XR2 with inferior notebook cpu, and one mobilty 5870.

    YouTube - Alienware M17xR2 HD5870 - MAFIA 2 Benchmark.

It is 2fps faster than your setup?!?!?! You must have driver issues

Why your DVD drive cannot read the disk is beyond me but maybe you can contact one of the resellers on here to host the file for you?

you need to specify single card machine on your description because if some people see that and they may don't want to buy the machine anymore

also the program you using to record your video may killing some performance so you may need to record a video with a camera or just post a screenshot of the final results

I thought the price was to good to be true, I was going to post my config in here but I figured a mod would edit it. I had blue ray burner, intel 80 gig ssd, sli, 980xm and 6 gigs of memory lol for under 4k, it was like 3998 or something on the sager site.

because it is to good to be true x7200 basic with dual 480ms is 3.5k hes adding a 980 and ssd thats another 1k at least so hes saving 725 dollars. To me 725 is alot of money , if you do not feel this way then you must be very wealthy person. You should use your money to buy a loaded x7200 and oc it to the max and let us see how far you can push it before it dies.

On another note that single bench UPPER1 is not impressing me in the least.
I agree with speedy its gonna put people right off. But I do think UPPER1 may be inexperienced and I am loving the videos I am certain this machien will spank the alienware on every level except disco lighting.

There is no reason for it to not spank the AW. Never argued that lol, it will definitely have more horses under the hood. The only advantages AW has right now are:

    known quantity
    generally lower price
    longer battery life/lower power draw
aesthetics (if you are into that sort of thing)

Hopefully an enthusiast IE semi crazy person will get a hold of one of these machines and dump it into a freezer or throw it on top of an air condtioner to show what its really capable of :D...

I am looking forward to that as well.... Speedy wont be that guy though i can assure you of that lol...

Well last winter I could just sit on my front porch bundled up like an Eskimo...it is just easier (and year round) to use the chest freezer haha

It is also much more consistent cooling :)

Still wish I knew what I was doing in Wyoming last xmas, would have cranked some good benches out at 0F haha (instead bricked a ssd....lessons were learned!). Got a set of GTX 280m's now though so kind of get a redemption on it ;) (stay tuned for what they can REALLY do). I want to pull off 13k GPU with the GTX 280m SLI

    haha

Interesting you point that out because when I used turbo boost on my i7-902XM, I get 14.8k Vantage GPU with no OC on the GPU. Still though, the GTX 480M will be higher if both GPU solutions were compared using the same platform.

Are you saying you had overclocked cpu (via turbo multis) and stock gpus? The 5870s respond VERY well to more cpu power as the difference in gpu scores from the 720 to 820 to 920 show

I am very interested in getting a perfect comparison between the 2 sets of cards when people start getting the x7200 with 5870s in it

Was nice that there is kind of a similar setup for comparing with the W870 and W880 laptops for single cards (although I have not seen anything except a dummy comparison on toms hardware - no overclocking or in depth testing like we would do here)

I don't think it's fair to call Alienware "cheaper". If Sager/Clevo would just put in 5870s then it would be the same price if not cheaper. And, unless I'm mistaken, you aren't required to pay tax on Sagers whereas you must pay the hundreds in tax on the Dell which raises a $4,000 up $200-$400 depending on the state/county/area.

One thing Alienware does have that Sager or just about any Clevo OEM is a financing option for those who don't want to pay $4,000 up front which isn't an unfair request.

Another thing Alienware has over Sager/Clevo is the customizability. I think it's pretty that you can put a custom name on the notebook a la Apple and Sony. But you can't possibly argue the highest-end mobile processor is comparable to the highest-end desktop processors because it just isn't true or fair.

It's really hard to compare the M17x to the D900x or the X7200 because you're comparing apples to oranges, mobile processors to desktop processors. They are two VERY different machines so it's hard to compare them when, besides the processors, the screens size/ratio is different (16:10 vs. 16:9), when the RAM is different (dual channel vs. triple channel), when the hard drives are different (2 HDDs vs. 3), when the graphics options are different (ATI vs. NVIDIA), etc. The more you look at it, the more you see how these machines are more different than similar, at least in my opinion. What if Clevo used a 16:10 screen on the X7200? Do you think Clevo might've used an RGBLED screen a la Dell? Could the reason Dell uses an RGBLED screen on the M17x be because RGBLED is cheaper at that size/ratio? What if Clevo put only 2 HDD slots in the X7200? Do you think the notebook would be lighter and less bulky? What if Clevo used the ATI 5870s like Dell? Do you think the power supply would be different? There are so many different factors that make the notebooks very different from each other and very difficult to directly compare.

This is just my opinion though.

I just wanted to pass on a little bad news. The SLI Dual 480M setup was sold out in the shipment on Friday! Only full system orders that were ordered very early on got shipped. No barebones. The factory is expecting stock as early as later this week.
The single 480M's are in stock only. Sorry... :(

By your standards then, NO 2 different notebook models can be compared.

Just because one cpu is desktop and one is laptop does not make them radically different at all. They are the EXACT same architecture and when ran at the same clocks, perform the same - who knew! If I simply put my FSB at 1333 on my QX9300 and put the multi at 9.0 (easy OC to do) then my laptop is a PERFECT comparison to a desktop Q(X)9650. The difference in memory channels is pretty much marketing bs and nothing else, read some tests.....The third hdd is also nice but is not the reason that the laptop is either big or heavy. Yes the screens are different ratios, but how is that relevant to what I was saying - RGBLED is not cheaper at any ratio, it is plainly more expensive than WLED or CCFL in every scenario. And I did not call the Alienware "cheap" - it is not, it just cost less. "Cheap" implies low/poor quality which neither of these laptops have - they are both very well built.

The financing option is what keeps the Clevo boards from being flooded with new people ...

If they had the same setup as Alienware this place would be totally different...
