I read your post but was somewhat confused by the fact that you live in some kind of black hole. But then I thought that our entire universe is probably a mere singularity point for some other universe....![]()

Yes, you are right, I forgot to update my location
Nontheless I haven´t stated that I can´t be at two places at the same time (which seems as a suitable property for a space-time singularity)
Now, seriously, I hope they will reply to my inquiry till late Monday. If not, we will have to be patient.
Funny enough, no one here seems to care about that fact that their starting price is 1650 € (~2222 $) (cf. original topic), and the machine with that configuration is not exactly barebone. I am not sure a X7200 can be had even in US for that price. And before someone asks, no, they don´t mention HDMI-in anywhere, not even in the specs sheet, so one can certainly assume they don´t offer that option as of now. -
Yes, I noticed the price, but thought it was some kind of website error like the one happened on Sager website a few days ago.
-
That would be a shame
The thing is that they also offer a X7200 configured with GTX285M instead of the GTX480M, so this significantly reduces the starting price. In any case, it is worth a double-check. Let us see if they update the price within the next few days. If not, then I may consider purchasing one.
-
At least you know your getting the most powerfull laptop ever made in are singularity. Not like theres an over abundance of x7200's. They don't come around every day, might as well splurge if you can on something as great as this!
-
Place an order if you actually want it... If it's their mistake then they will have to tell you. Then you cancel the order and BAM nothing happens.
-
Hey,
I have just received an email to my inquiry about the anti-glare screen.
Naive translation: the glare polarizer in the original display is swapped out for a matte polirizer.
I think this puts an end to all debates
-
LOOOL again no one has one yet. Luckily i have played with a single gpu version as we all know the SLI is fable told by resellers. If your not kissing a resellers ##s your waiting.
We will see sli versions on here end of the week and alot late next week.
Anyway I played with a single for a few hrs and not impressed, will cancel my order and wait for 470 or AMD solution cost for these 480m and performance does not match price.
This machine should never have been released with 480m alot of pissed off early adapters. The screen is horrific and I do mean horrific. The touchpad is quite useless but most of us use a mouse.
This machine needs 470/5870 option, 120hz screen, 400w power brick
The 480m are the 9800s of the mobile world, overpriced , under perform. -
How did you come by this machine? What did you do on it to come to your conclusion?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
This was already known and is what people had been saying from the getgo. And the point of this machine is not to wow you with one 480m, it is to wow you with 2. If you only needed one you would have already bought a D900f -
Thanks for the update! Hmm...tempting...
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
Here you go X7200 sli vantage benchmark that's what you expect of this machine or you want me to overclock more

I don´t know about him, but I definitely want MORE, or should I say MOAR
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
if you want MOAR here you go :tongue:Attached Files:

-
Lol, that can´t be real for a X7200
It rather seems to me like you have benched your desktop. Besides, I thought you hadn´t received your X7200 yet...
EDIT: Just to clarify: I want moar from a X7200, not just moar for the sake of moar
-
Lol, of course. x7200 GPU Vantage score will be half of that with max OC' and Speedy is risking to greatly reduce the number of buyers for the Clevo with his desktop benches
-
Still, that cpu score is plain insane. Well, at least we had moar lulz
-
Right then, that should take care of things. (Sweep, sweep).
Carry on proper.
-
There goes my chance to practice Japanese... Oh well, I only studied it for a few months.
Thanks for the sanitation 2.0. -
All my japanese came from anime lol
I am chinese... I guess my english isn't childish at least lol -
Japanese? What did I miss?

^ Don't start the flame again. lol
I kind if wish that I waited for a bit for this laptop. -
How's your NP8850 now?
why don't you put it up on your siggy? -
lol at least put it in Hiragana lol...
I mean 平仮名 lol -
That would be much harder to google
-
Do you want to sell your NP8850
I would buy, depends on how much
-
I bought Speedy's D900F, I already put a 980x and better SSD and HDD, I can probably use the spare parts[i7 930, 500GB HDD] to sell the D900F and buy the X7200. What I'm after is the USB3 ports and the HDMI-in on the X7200.
-
Well the USA X7200 does not have HDMI-in so your not missing anything there atleast ..
-
Me too
I want the USB 3.0 too
-
I am not sure what the big deal is for HDMI?
Xbox or playstation in? Buy a cheap LCD with HDMI. You can get a much larger screen for not very much money. Same for watching TV or movies. I would not want to do any of the above on the 17" screen.
It has already been stated that the HDMI in is only 720P so what are you all going to be using this for? -
Two points (not in direct response to anyone):
1) Actually, a really big deal with a true (1080p) HDMI-in is the capability to use an external desktop gpu with your laptop screen. So far, such a setup has always required an external monitor to achieve good performance. Not to mention that with all the ports and internal slots of X7200 there is a real opportunity to fully utilize an external desktop gpu.
2) I don´t see why anyone would want to plug in a console given the existence of emulators and really powerful dekstop cpus. This kind of reminds me of Origin´s Big O: two extreme Xeons and Quad SLI and then they also built in a console (like "wt*, dude!"), so I can play Super Mario 64
Anyways, I think a crappy 720p HDMI-in is worse than nothing (literally). In fact, I think Clevo/Sager/resellers should have never mentioned a word about it or included such an option, so we wouldn´t have all that ado about it now
Also, I don´t think we will be seeing any 1080p HDMI-in anytime soon because of all the copyright paranoia in Hollywood (which is ridiculous since it doesn´t influence piracy at all). If I am not mistaken, this is actually one of the reasons why we are not seeing a 1080p HDMI-in in X7200.
Just my 0.02€

hi!
two days ago my (sample) X7200 arrived
config: 2x gtx 285m sli
intel 980x
1x ssd
2x hdd
tv card, bluetooth,...
3DMark2006: 21.200 (default)
the x8100 with 258m sli reaches ~ 16000 points
>
i cant install the nvidia (stable) driver
the 260er beta driver works fine
anyone know how to overclock the 980x cpu?
i have no bios-options in the bios? -
Why 285 though?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
If i understand you correctly, you are talking about using a desktop gpu along with the rest of the laptop? This will not work at all.......reason, the video coming from the desktop gpu is completely independent of whatever the laptops is doing. The hard drives, memory, cpu of the laptop are not interfacing at ALL with the desktop gpu. ALL the HDMI in option enables is the use of this many thousands $$ laptop as a 17" 720p screen.....which is nothing to call home over in my opinion -
Perhaps I was too unspecific. What I had in mind was something like this:

http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...gure-out-how-make-diy-vidock.html#post5061567
The HDMI-in port would close the chain back into the "internal" monitor instead of the external one. I admit taking things that far is still highly speculative, yet realistic
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is interesting but seems like a considerably difficult project. And, if you are going to go through all that trouble....why bother getting a laptop this strong anyway. Also, the PCIe x1 limitation makes that pointless as even the best cards will be so choked for bandwidth that this laptop would still be faster on its own
-
push push push ^^

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Using XTU. It should be on your resource disk. if not there has been a link to it posted either here of in the owners lounge. -
MSI is planning a ready made option for those that don't want to do the tinkering themselves.
MSI GUS (Graphics Upgrade Solution), First External Graphic Card for Laptops - DeviceMAG
USB 3.0 and Lightpeak should help make these things more popular in the future....but personally I'm waiting for someone to try and get Lucid Hydra in the mix by using one of PowerColor's HD5770.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is true, USB 3 would also be much easier for the end user to use. I still see it as somewhat of a clumsy solution though. I prefer to have everything internal to the laptop. I do not even like the XBOX 360 wireless receiver being out lol let alone a full size graphics card
-
Ok, I haven´t said that it´s easy. It can be considered to be still in development... As for the x1 limitation, it has been partly overcome with more "friendly" laptop hardware. It hasn´t been completely overcome because there wasn´t that suitable laptop hardware...until now. X7200 is a great hardware platform with its 2 USB 3.0 ports, wireless and tv-tuner card slots, desktop mobo, 2 MXM slots and lots of room, hence plenty of possibilities and opportunities for innovative modifications
Now that I mention this, could it be that it doesn´t come with ExpressCard?
-
Well, of course, it is a matter of taste. Given the size of the X7200, an external gpu solution is kind of perverse
But let´s be honest, who cares when all that matters is performance?!
-
Asus had the XG Station years ago.. they just never made it to market.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Now that you mention it, yep. No expresscard slot
Same crap Asus pulled with the G73 that pissed off alot of people - but we knew they would cut corners to get the price down. Why would clevo bother trying to cut costs like that.....it is not a cheap machine haha. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
There was also the amilo xgp stuff with fujitsu, although that used MXM cards and was not user changeable. -
I waited the XG Station for two years and then it was like "wait what?"
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well that XG station had the same PCIe x1 limitation. It does indeed look like USB 3.0 will be the future of this sort of technology. At 5 Gb/s it is a little faster than PCEe 2.0 x8 (4 Gb/s) link speed which is quite ample for any of todays graphics cards
-
Nvidia is working on this currently, maybe they'll get lucky this time around
X7200 Pre-sale price is here!
