No, I was not referring to myself.
And you would need to following the hwbot benching to understand what it meant.![]()

In my honest opinion, your reply consisted of a bit too much ego that was unnecessary, because the intent behind it was clear as day. Also, you need to realize that people don't post results only with an intention like you're making it out to be so it's not correct for you to think or assume that.
hwbot is one thing (I like it a lot), but that isn't the sole basis behind why we as people who share a common interest, do what we do. I think you're putting way too much stock into this mateIt's not that serious....hwbot doesn't mean everything (especially when notebook benchers, bench with the mobo outside of the chassis) compared to the love of the game/sport of OC'ing, and with you posting up screen shots to try and prove a point did not prove anything but display a great deal of jealously and ego. The truth is, no one cares mate to the extent that is being portrayed..really not a big deal.
I have a great deal of respect for this sport and understand it pretty well. Your achievements are great and it's good to see what is possible so I appreciate that. However, just know that posting up and sharing results is for fun and NOT revolved around the intent of how you are perceiving it. - I wish for this not to turn into a long rant so shall we just squash it at the bud eh? It's not a big deal... If that's not what you've intended then please explain yourself to clarify.Last edited: Sep 21, 2016hmscott likes this. -
If I wanted to run the ego card. I would be making threads of every single world record I broke in the last 8 years.
It has nothing to do with ego. The people involved already understand. Nothing further need be said.Mr. Fox, ajc9988, temp00876 and 1 other person like this. -

My OC on the CPU's seem to be sticking okay, but the GPU often defaults back to stock after running FireStrike.
In BIOS, I have all the multipliers and power limits set accordingly and have been using the Clevo OC app as that is the only one that seems to stick, however, for the GPU the Clevo OC app doesn't seem to be sticking so I'm having to change it after every bench. (GPUZ reports the clocks being changed when I hit apply on Clevo OC apps end, but after the benches it defaults back to stock.)
I'm using Throttle Stop for under volting, but only for that...
I'm about to repaste with Grizzly Kyronaut to start and later after testing different pastes, I'll test the psi with my pressure paper before going LM. -
Not bad eh?

Well, most don't really like it, but I use XTU with a cross of TS.
And EVGA Precision along with msi afterburner 4.3 beta for 1070's/1080's The newer versions lock out the pixel clock to keep people from bricking screens I gather.
I only use that Clevo app when I'm not benching so i can set fans to custom while i'm playing a game.
The gpus you want to revert back else you may get into a spot where you can't get back into the system right because the card is stuck on a faulty overclock. If you use one of the other apps the clocks should stay. Even across a few soft crashes.

Wow a lot of mix of flavors there I see...I'm the same way....XTU does a fine job, I really like TS and AB as well. Glad to have options. -

Strange...so I'm adjusting the GPU to find the sweet spot, but it's not being nice today. Last night I was able to obtain much higher OC's on the Core and Memory, but today it's being a pill...
This silicon is very sensitive on the Memory clocks when OC'ing...it's being very picky. -
Lower memory and see if your core clock holds much better.
You cant just monitor stability, you need to look at whether its holding clock as well.
OT: Cant wait until my 64GB of ram gets here... -
And just what do you need 64 gigs of ram for? -

In BIOS, do you guys normally max out (999999) the Power Limits (PL1 and PL2) or set it to a specific value?
Current Limit Throttling, due to no Prema Magic -
I think he's hunting for a 64GB quad channel 3200MHz 16-18-18-39 kit.
Did you try raising your CoreICCMax value anywhere? I'm almost certain it's available via XTU even on the stock machines (throttlestop's TPL window might have it too; check with TS 8.20).iunlock likes this. -

I easily fill 16GB of ram in 10 minutes after opening my computer
Maybe you have page file enabled, this lowers the actual RAM usage by writing RAM data to the HDD or SSD, depending on where it is.
One of the must things to do when installing windows is disabling page file, if you have enough RAM. Photoshop can easily eat 16 Gigs of ram if an image has enough resolution.
I wish I could go with 64 Gigs of RAM when I get my new laptopy.. But sadly, it seems odd to manualy install the RAM under the keyboard
By the way, my understanding is that we can overclock any RAM to higher speed, but it would increase CL latency, is that correct? (CAS)ajc9988, Spartan@HIDevolution and Papusan like this. -

Granted, wish I had more but I'm on my phone and can't find the early August articles which mentioned Ice Lake and Tiger Lake (including one of them switching to FIVR again like haswell). The 2066 pin socket rides to 2020. As such, a behemoth like that, as you said, would crush BGA.
Here's praying for that laptop...

A really good friend just gave me an Amazon gift card, so I figured that I should start getting things in order for 1080 SLI. The way the die is made seems a bit more risky for Liquid Ultra, as everything is exposed and there is no support rim around the edge. (I am really puzzled what the rationale was for removing that support rim. It makes 1080 look like the cheap low- and mid-range GPUs without it.) So, I will start with Kryonaut to see if that is good enough. If necessary I will use an RTV silicon dam around the edge of the die if I need to break out the big guns with Liquid Ultra to keep it in line.

Funny thing you had mentioned encoding because I had just opened up HandBrake to convert some movies haha...
Since the characteristics are different now with the repaste, the UV's are different. Strange I know, but I'll be testing my UV's and posting them up shortly. There's a lot on my plate as I have an in depth review to write along with organizing all the pictures that I took during the delid and repaste. Oh and the temps downstairs is pretty chill with the air on (depending on who's down there adjusting it), but my office is upstairs is always around 22C-23C.
Stay tuned!bloodhawk likes this. -

For some reason your forum images are frequently broken. Might want to consider using a free imgur account. Uploading to the forum here as the web host is always hit or miss. I've been using imgur for a long time and it's awesome. You can actually email photos into the imgur account for an easy way to upload from your smartphone and download a huge zip file with an entire album, or even your entire account, etc. I also love the album feature. After losing TONS of valuable and irreplaceable images on some of the other web hosts imgur has never let me down. My pics that are 3 or 4 years old are still safe and sound.

I would never, under any circumstances, disable my page file, or remove it from a SSD.
Some programs extremely hate the page file being disabled, and it speeds up normal work usage too. When I had 16GB I attempted disabling the page file and I noticed significant performance reductions in some cases. I turned it right back on after I did some searching about it. Though, I suspect for something like Photoshop where fast swapping isn't really necessary, it doesn't mean too much.
Yes and no. One does not need to increase timings when bumping speed per-se. It depends on the RAM, the voltage, the quality of the sticks, etc. It's possible to raise speed and lower timings. But it'd be rather rare. Generally, though, it does mean raising timings (and voltage).Georgel likes this. -
