Prema bios is so lovely.
With stock the best I could get was 4.5 and 2133.
Now 4.7 and 2800.
I am talking about a 15inch laptop.

Yeah. I can not see other options than Clevo laptops nowadays. Everything else sucks. That would be a big tragedy if Clevo had followed Dellienware, MSI and Asus on the bandwagon and have created only BGA machines. Thank goodness that there is an alternative to all slim and flimsy CrapBooks

I'm just curious what sort of core voltages are some of you guys (whom have reached insane OC's on 6700k's in P870DM models) in this thread (Mr. fox + Johnksss I'm looking at you) using on your ring and vcore. I've not set mine statically, but using varying offsets my cores haven't pulled more than 1.26-7 max and I get way too high temps at that kinda voltage/speed so I'm curious what u guys are doing to cool those insane clocks?
Sebastiao Liparizi Neto likes this. -
HaHa Yeah, no matter what i did with XTU , i couldn't get the processor running at 4.4ghz with one PSU. Now at least till the GFX load is down, im able to run 4.4Ghz stable @ -75mV. And my 4.3Ghz is fully stable @ -130 mV (around 1.16-1.18 with -20 uncore and 480mA power limit)
This BIOS has some serious rework done. Kudos to @Prema
Most people running super high voltages are either with very cold ambient temperatures or are running it de-lidded. Plus i might be wrong here, but they are just doing it for benches. I might be wrong about both though, these guys are nuts. -
How did you get the bios? Also what psu are you using?

New 3DM Fire Strike score 14037P with my BGA Crushing KILLER (1467/8003MHz). Total 344W max power consumption during Firestrike. I think it's time for a second 330W psu now, LOL

How are you even cooling it at 1.388 V .. And what are the temps like during the run??
-
That's freaking awesome for a single 980, and I think at 20% headroom, you can still pull up to 390w out of the single PSU, but a second one might be safer / more fun.
Can you please record the fan sound at peak power draw during a Fire Strike run and post it?, it must sound awesome.Papusan likes this. -
Although I have little headroom with my 330W PSU, I should still be a little careful because previous I blew my Dell PSU in a bench with my AW17 (it became expensive, LOL). A 330W PSU for Clevo is not easy to acquire here at home + that this PSU is damn expensive. The government shall have sky-high taxes on everything I buy outside Norway (everything i buy over $ 35... I have to pay full tax on top of the purchase, shipping and extra duty fees to the government) + That everything takes time here at home. I already asked my pc provider home about the price for a 330W. But I don't think they have a spare psu, because they haven't reply back
. And the Convert box for psu's must be purchased outside Norway. Of course with high Vat on top, LOL
This laptop is quieter than my Aw17 "Elitist" and a lot of other gaming models (in rewievs of the monster) But I do not care if have to I run the fans at maximum in benchmark tests or gaming.
MSI GT 80
Clevo P870
AW15 R2 BGA machine
Clevo P870 is also quieter than the new AW15 R2 BGA machine under maximum load .Last edited: Mar 16, 2016hmscott likes this. -
Ah, then maybe water-cooling the PSU might be in order
Benchmarking isn't gaming, I know I need to drop down my best benchmark settings for most games, from +135 +400 to +125 +325 works for all games.
What is the Fire Strike score for everyday stable gaming settings, that run without full fan required?Last edited: Mar 16, 2016Papusan likes this. -
Has not downloaded any games yet. I have a mother in the hospital who is very ill and this has taken all my time.
Even my wife has been in the hospital to repair her damaged ankle. There will be multiple surgeries on the hospital for her.
Have only a little time for Web browsing and sleeping. Hope I get some more time later. A difficult time right now. Everything goes in black. I've hardly had time to look at my new laptop after I got it. I have prioritized Deliding of processor, tweaking, new U3 mod and benching, LOL
Edit: I think it should be be ok with 4.7 GHz and +135/400MHz on the GPU for gaming.Last edited: Mar 16, 2016godfafa_kr, GTVEVO and hmscott like this. -

Thanks @Prema for helping. My problem is that if I order something on the web (whatever countries web store outside Norway) I have to pay 25% tax on top of the item, shipping + (the duty fee that all international shipping demand for treatment of taxes to government). Every package I order and already have pay'd for in other countries web store... At the Norwegian border every pay'd package will be stopped and the government will have their tax of the invoice/receipt

@Mr. Fox so I just installed the G.Skill 2800 Mhz, RAM, the default XMP profile showed that it was running at 2400 Mhz only so I changed it to custom profile then changed the profile from 9 to 11, saved and exit but the system wouldn't boot only black screen even after 2 mins.
So I then did an NVRAM reset to boot up. That was a pain in the butt though opening the laptop again, removing the battery and CMOS battery and waiting. So:
1) is there a way to load setup defaults while booting without doing well doing this? Any keyboard shortcut?
2) how to run my RAM at 2800 MHz -
By memory Profile are you referring to the DIMM Profile or the Memory Ratio. I tried a 2800Mhz kit yesterday and using the XMP profile automatically imported all the timings and what not.
I did manage to get it to boot manually before i tried XMP, by manually entering all the CAS, Ratio values etc. -
Now that made me look like I was not actually working...got a "whatever makes you happy" comment from behind me...shouldn't have clicked that link...LOL
You have to select XMP profile 2 IIRC...Last edited: Mar 16, 2016Mr. Fox, Spartan@HIDevolution and bloodhawk like this. -

I changed it from default profile to XMP Profile 2, but then it automatically set it back to XMP Profile 1, I tried many times.
However, using XMP Profile 1, I? am running @ 2800 Mhz:

Bloody heck bro, I applied the same settings that you have on YouTube for the 4.7 GHz with the exception of C-States I left that enabled along with virtualization/AES. I then booted to Windows just fine but noticed in HWiNFO the clock speed was jumping between 4.7 GHz and and 1.3 GHz so I rebooted again and disabled C-States and AES and Virtualization. Upon the next reboot I get a BSOD with some IRQ exception saying BAD_CONFIG pool
I then reverted BIOS to stock but no luck. Tried startup repair with no joy. Tried system restore and it says I must select an operating system first.
I was on a RAID 0 setup on those 950 Pros. Any suggestions or shall I format? -
Im guessing you are on RAID - 0? Its very easy to corrupt data and the windows install on a RAID-0 setup. Mostly if you have to use RAID, you setup all the system overclocks etc, using a simple windows install and then setup RAID after everything is set done and stable. Just my 2 cents.

Well, no two CPUs are exactly the same. My settings seems to work great for @Papusan but not as well for others.
Before you doing anything drastic like an OS reinstall, try putting the old RAM back in and see what happens. Maybe the G.Skill is only stable when it wants to be. If it is only running at 1.200V that might not be adequate for 2800. Is it 1.200V or higher?Papusan likes this. -
They work for me as well - 30 mins Prime95 stable. just that my temps go crazy. Gotta re paste tomorrow with GCE.

The error message says BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
I reverted BIOS settings to stock thus running the RAM at only 2400 MHz but still the same -
Seems to be a corrupt bootloader.
Try getting into command prompt and repairing the MBR etc using bootrec.Prema and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Yet another new Firestrike bench. This time with 260/500 (1488/8003) and 14,118P in Firestrike. The 330W PSU maxed out at 359.9W now
I need an extra soon as possible

For those who want single graphics is the NVIDIA desktop version a blessing + that the card is ready for Oculus(for those who want to use more money). Although the teperature is low outside here in northern Scandinavia, it does not mean inside temperature is very low
. My wife and children requires that there is always warm inside here at home. The Fireplace + conventional ovens is always on, LOL(I hate it, HaHa). Would have rather had an AC that I could use for benchmarks in a small closet
.

Ha-ha gotcha !
But how do you manage to complete benches at 4.8ghz without throttling?.. I'm sure the temps are easily touching high 90's.Papusan likes this. -
Ok Chip + that I use my new U3 cooler and max fan speed (most of bench tests are done around 17 degrees when my wife sleep, LOL). Here at home I try to keep the indore temperature at 20 but my wife turns up, while I turn down. Unless we have lighted up in the fireplace and the temp go up in high 20.
I can see You use a newer driver than me... Have you compared bench results of 364.51 vs the older ones? I use 361.91. Is the new driver from Ngreedia ok and without bugs? -
No bugs, but it's not as good for beches at a couple of version before it. Probably because they royally ****ed up on the first release and haphazardly put this one together. I just play CSGO and DOTA 2 so it doesn't really matter to me.
But I might install windows 7 to do some benches ,now that I have stabilized the machine at 4.7ghz. -
I can not understand how M$@morons managed to destroy a Os so damn when they knew win 7 work well. It had not been so hard to make something better than this pastel colored junk. Very tragic that these idiots wanted to continued to build X on top of the other garbage <Win8>.
You haven't any bench results to show from earlier drivers? -
Unfortunately nope. All my benches before this were on my desktop workstation, that was a 3930k + Rampage 4 Formuka and 32GB MUSHKIN CL9 2133Mhz RAM running @ 5Ghz under a custom water loop. I MISS THAT MONSTER.
I got this baby last week on Friday. Been away from home since Sunday, so can't do much here.Papusan likes this. -
4.8 GHz + 1488/8003 vs. stock clock in Fire Strike, used the beast nearly 124w more power from the wall(Stock 236w vs 359.9w OC'd).
Test table is made by @HTWingNut
That is double the wattage vs Dellienwares PSU Gate (180w slim flimsy psu with first gen AW BGA machines)
Dellienware's engineers could not even calculate the correct power consumption on their new first gen BGA machine(with Gtx980m). No wonder their new AW gaming laptop's was and became a big failure... Soldered hardware was the nail in the coffin, but they spiced this faulty product with Hybrid bios on top,LOL

Damn, considering the amount of performance gained at those clocks, the power draw isnt that much. I cant seem to stabilize at 4.8Ghz. And if i start going over 1.36V, the temps start hitting the 95C wall within seconds. Im guessing ill need to delid my processor.
But the GTX980 seems to be a decent clocker, i was able to do +178/+150 without any extra voltage. Might try and push it to +300 / 200 tomorrow.
You sir are a god to be able to bench at those settings.Spartan@HIDevolution and Papusan like this. -
It's really bad to destroy a MMX graphics card in heavy bench, but it would have been much much worse if the graphics card had been soldered... You would lose a good processor when you replaced the motherboard. Someone who says that BGA is any good? HaHa
-
Now instead of using gelid extreme, CLP (liquid pro) was applied outside the IHS.
The temp went down almost 10degree C.
