Be sure to let us know how that works out. I'm sure a lot of people are waiting to hear from us after hearing of the issues with the 16GB G.SKILL 3000. Mine will be here sometime tomorrow.

Benches do not let this hold them back.....They adapt.... At least I do.

Hope the Corsairs work for you.

I just tried some Patriot Viper 2800 Mhz and they worked plug n play. On xmp and stock, no errors.

Mine runs, but I had to make changes to make it compatible. As Brother @Mr. Fox pointed out. The new sticks are not plug and play. Next would be to test 4 8 gig sticks to see if they fair better.

I told you! And moving files from nvme drives with that kind of connection is just flat out ridiculously fast!

Haha wish my cable came in last week when i was copying over data to an external drive and then to the desktop.
The best part though is the seamless-ness. With the Core it was super annoying to get the Ethernet port working, but TB3 to TB3, as easy as plugging in the cable!

This one seem to be lengthier. Ill return mine since it just 1m, and get this.

Im still running the custom firmware on the Clevo and the desktop has the Thunderbolt EX3, worked like a charm the first time.

Wait. Does that 1M cable have a 3 on it? If so, keep it. That is a true TB3 40 gbps cable.
    I have 1 of each.

I have purchased from them quite a few times and it's usually just a couple of days. Or, you're close enough to just go to their store in Rancho Cucamonga instead of buying online. Their prices are hard to beat.

I'm guessing you've probably even got customers in that area.

I max it out at 8191 (1023A in Windows values). Remember, that is a limit (cap) and not a static setting. So, you're just taking the lid off by setting the limit beyond what you can actually use.

Yay! I can hardly wait for mine to get here. This should make @Prema very happy as well. I am hoping I find the same success. Will be nice to put the G.SKILL nightmare behind us. Way too many calories were burned on trying to make that defective RAM usable. I'm surprised that @Swick1981 didn't take a sledge hammer to his P870DM3 on account of all the problems it caused him. I should have ordered the Corsair the moment the second 2x16GB G.SKILL kit turned out to be trash a couple of weeks ago.

HID and others who sell these ram sticks should remove G.Skill Ripjaws Series DDR4 3000MHz sticks from their PC configurator. As problems have now been highlighted.
Maybe @Ted@HIDevolution can say something more about this.

Edit. You can as well add the Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz to your PC configurator (Test out these ram sticks and see if they are a good enough first).

The first set of G.SKILL I had with my P870DM-G that I sold to @Rage Set were awesome. Something happened and we probably will never know exactly what. It could be a batch of defective eeprom chips, defective memory chips or even something as messed up as a disgruntled employee doing naughty things. I am very happy that yours work right and wish everyone was having the same experience. I'm sure once G.SKILL figures out what is going on they will correct the problem and everyone will have modules that work correctly like yours, @Phoenix and @Rage Set. @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER was able to tweak his into submission, but the exact same tweaking failed miserably for me, so it's definitely an "accident" of some sort on the manufacturing end and I trust that they will sort it out... hopefully, in really short order.

we don't need any tweaking to make $550 RAM kits to work to be honest. I dunno what Prema did in the latest BIOS to make them work for me as you know they weren't working previously

Yes, I know. But, they were not as bad and your system was still fairly stable. Others were not. There is still something different since you and I purchased the earlier revision. The newer versions are far worse in terms of misbehavior. I agree on the tweaking. I don't appreciate paying big bucks for defects that have to be tweaked to correct. I want to tweak to improve performance, not make something broken simply usable.

    Ahhhh!!! He did it again...

Wanna join the best Team on the planet: http://hwbot.org/team/premamod/ ;)

GUYS! The amount of heat this system generates during a night of WatchDogs2 with proper SLI, g-sync, everything on maximum quality and in 3K/120Hz with high-res texture maps is insane...and so is the quality of game-play! :D

EDIT: AT one point I got a bit worried about the wooden surface of my desk being treated by the fiery furnace blowing non-stop out of the vents, so I put it on an Aluminium cooler to save the table...could literally have fried eggs on the heatsinks Minutes after being switched off :p

EDIT2: And to the guy who tried to hack my in-game-base: You deserved the virtual bullet. o_O

EDIT3: THX @Ted@HIDevolution for the game & @ ALL of you for this wonderful system. Had my first gaming session, after receiving it and continuously working on the Mods, and LOVED every bit of it!

Wow, my head was spinning trying to figure out what you guys have been doing. @Phoenix and @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER - that P870DM3 with dual 1080s is one insane machine! @Phoenix - are you using all 4 330w bricks at the same time? =O

I think now I see where the real laptop OCing is at - my little P650RS is not meant for that =D

I had something similar happen with the G.SKILL where Windows was crashing and lost its activation. Maybe removing the system battery, CMOS battery and AC power is advisable after changing over to the Corsair. The G.SKILL sticks we had are really messed up and something stuffed in the NVRAM might have done it. It could have also been some overclock settings that the Clevo CPU OC utility had tried to force that were conflicting with the custom BIOS settings or the new RAM.

I am still testing the Corsair. I flashed the stock BIOS first, for the benefit of P870DM2/3 owners that are not eligible for the firmware mods. I am happy to report Memtest86 and TM5 both passed with flying colors with the 32GB (2 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000. Those that want 16GB 3000MHz memory modules should be OK going with the Corsair Vengeance based on this information. I recommend staying away from the 16GB G.SKILL 3000 modules, but the 8GB G.SKILL 3000 modules seem to be fine for everyone using them.

I then flashed a mod @Prema provided to try to force the G.SKILL to work correctly. (That test BIOS has BCLK adjustment disabled and higher spread spectrum, so not the ideal situation for enthusiasts.) That passed TM5 and Memtest86 with zero errors as well.

I will now flash the current Prema BIOS mod to confirm that all is well, and then begin overclocked CPU testing with the Corsair.

That could very well be possible. Because the new ram might have taken on some of what the old ram left...speculations of course.

Unless you guys are gunning for super tight timings and 3100Mhz, won't it be much easier to just get the 2800Mhz kit and OC that to 3000?

Well, the whole point of our exercise here is attempt to find what's wrong and either fix it or let people know what to do to avoid it. Yes, we could do that but it would not get to the bottom of the problem and I know @Prema wants the BIOS mod to be 100% stable, as we all do. Literally everything I have seen from this long, drawn-out mess points to something being goofed up with the G.SKILL 16GB 3000 sticks, which should be good information for anyone considering purchasing it. It's very frustrating, but in the end it should be worth it for everyone.

Yes, but I think it is sound speculation and suspect that may be what happened. NVRAM can hang onto some things, and while that can sometimes be advantageous it is a two-edged sword that can sometimes be extremely undesirable. It's unfortunate technology has moved this direction instead of the trustworthy old volatile BIOS settings. Things were much better and simpler when everything was gone as soon as the CMOS battery is unplugged and safe defaults are applied with no opportunity for "remembering" things that should not be remembered.

I will be looking for new ram when Kaby lake comes. I might expect the "new" G.Skill 3000MHz 16GB sticks also is a problem in DM1? G.Skill 3000MHz 8GB sticks are safe? And will Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz sticks work with older DM1? Or put it the other way... Have some tried those in DM1?

What happened? Were you able to restore your OS image? Maybe post in @Prema BIOS thread and let us know. I'm thinking your NVRAM was stuffed from that nasty RAM. That's also what happened to @Swick1981 and his G.SKILL cancer sticks. He could not even reinstall Windows until he removed them from his system his were so bad. Even Windows Setup was crashing with BSOD.
Seems compatible from everything I have tested so far. I haven't overclocked the CPU yet, but all tests have passed without errors. Going to overclock the CPU now and confirm that doesn't adversely affect anything.

My Magic 8 Ball got broken the other day. But, I have not seen any reports of 8GB G.SKILL 3000 causing problems.

Come over this weekend and I will let you borrow the Corsair to see if it works OK in your machine. We can grille steaks while waiting for Memtest86 to finish. ;)
