Hey guys... if you have a 3K or 4K panel, you might appreciate this tweak. It has made my text viewing much more pleasant without screwing up all of the scaling. I like using 100% scaling ONLY and this made a massive improvement for me. I am enjoying the 3K a whole lot more after doing this.
Open NotePad, paste the code below into it. Save it as DPI-Fix.cmd. Right click, run as admin. Log off/Log on and enjoy. @Phoenix
Code:REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v DpiScalingVer /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00001018 /f REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v Win8DpiScaling /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001 /f REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v LogPixels /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000078 /f

I use Reg Key for deactivate winscript.
So i set enabled to 0 or 1 when i need windows script hosting.
It´s a litte safer in these times.
Code for xy.reg file:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings]
"DisplayLogo"="1"
"ActiveDebugging"="1"
"SilentTerminate"="0"
"UseWINSAFER"="1"

It seems like my system is back to normal again after restoring my image to eliminate the CCC/Hotkey cancer. For those that hate CCC and do not have it installed, look in the BIOS for the custom fan control option. Change that to disabled. FN+1 still works for me and the fans seem to function better. The fans are more responsive and my machine runs cooler doing things like playing games. Even so, they have never come on full blast, perhaps because they work smarter instead of harder.

Got ya, I would have never considered dropping a lot of money on one either when a laptop such as this is available for the same price or less than some of the options out there.

Very successful test with 4.4 GHZ.
The temperatures also remain well below 70 degrees Celsius at room temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius.
Now I will do more stress tests.Attached Files:

Now I have done an AIDAS stress test with 4,4 GHZ on all cores.
74 degrees C maximum temperature with such a stress test I can not classify correctly - 5 minutes at a room temperature of 21.5 degrees C.
Tomorrow and the days I will make more tests.
For today I have to play once again a round Fallout 4.
It´s also a test to gamble a round Fallout 4.
See you later Guys.Attached Files:

Mr. Fox I am an old man.
I am 56 years old and my first computer was an Amiga 500 1987.
I come from the good old DOS time and have still used Multiplan and Corel Draw or other quite old products.
And still I love computer games.
I've enjoyed network parties at a young age, but I've been too old for that.
A colleague has invited me again, but I can no longer gamble until 3:00 in the morning.
The time I still have I understand as a fun time and I am looking forward to every further computer minute.
Understand me now a little.
But I also understand for you.
Overclocking is their life.
I thank you for many nice minutes with them and the others here.
And will enjoy the rest of the time.
My life is gambling.
I created a lot with my own levels in Unreal and enjoyed the many first mod for Doom (First). I am grateful for her fan mod.Therefore I am now also happy to have this beast temperature-controlled under control. The step from the Clevo P375smA to the P870DM3-G is already huge.
I have not experienced the experience of the first P870. Unfortunately.
I will continue my stable test and the goal is almost reached.
Because at 4.4 GHZ on all cores and Fallout 4 I had only 64 Degress C tonight at room temperature of 21.8 degrees Celsius. Cool!Attached Files:

One member of the overclocking community here that we know and love is close to 80 now. Awesomeness is ageless. I raised my sons from a young age playing PC games starting with Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D and Quake. They are now fully grown and starting families of their own. But, dad is still more serious about gaming and overclocking than they are.
Glad to hear that you are taming the beast. Good job. -

Sounds like your sons, Mr. Fox, were raised on the same games my dad raised me on. Loved Apogee and Microprose games back then! Unfortunately I am nowhere near as good at DOS as I used to be when I was a little kid (not to say I can't get around or that I didn't use those same programs @jointhegame).
I'm trying to get him back into overclocking and tinkering, but it's a slow process.
Meanwhile, didn't realize I'm older than you @Meaker@Sager (admittedly not by much). Gotta love the diversity of age and walks of life in this forum!
Please tell me you all remember catacombs!!! There is another early one...

I still like using a command prompt about as much as a GUI. It feels more like I am in control when I type out a command and hit enter, LOL.
My first computer was a Tandy with an 8088 4.77 Mhz CPU that ran everything from a 720KB 5.25" floppy disk. That was about 1983. The games I enjoyed were written in Qbasic and used a monochrome display. My favorites were "Nibbles" and "Gorillas" games. I used a variety of computers for work and started gaming on a beige colored 286-powered Compaq laptop with a trackball on the palm rest. That was quite a novelty. It was sporting the new 5.25" floppy drive. It seemed so fast at the time. This was before HP purchased Compaq Corporation. That laptop belonged to my employer. My second home PC purchase was a Packard Bell 486SX that seemed like it cost a fortune at the time. I think that was in 1991. That was also my first Windows PC. It had Windows 3.11 for workgroups if I remember correctly. It had a car racing game and audio. I was so stoked about that. It seemed amazing at the time.
I never actually embraced Windows until Windows 95 and even then it was still begrudgingly. I did not enjoy using the earlier versions of Windows. It reminded me of Apple crap too much and I hated that. Real men used DOS. I started to lighten up about using the wussy little girl's cartoon GUI by Windows 98. After I learned the convenience of multi-tasking I finally let it go.afloyd, Johnksss, lctalley0109 and 4 others like this. -
Wow, now I feel young. First PC was a family-shared one in 2002. I started on Unreal Tournament '99 and Quake 3 Arena Demo xD. I had a PS2 at the time and I was on games like Final Fantasy X and Armored Core 2 and Gran Turismo 3 and Twisted Metal Black.

After getting back from Germany, my dad started building computers and that was one of the things we did together. By 93 or so, we had three family computers, the one in the living room/dining room area, my dad's, and the one in my room (my older sister had an Apple in her room, but I didn't give it much thought because it was an Apple). I remember when the living room was the only one with a CD drive (eventually I got one in my room). We had shelves of cases and components in the garage at one point (and spare ribbon printers out there)...
Edit: we had Windows 3.0, 3.1, 3.11 for workgroups, but I used mainly word processors and spreadsheets on there (I was an OCD/anal retentive scamp).

Before I started traveling a lot for work about 12 or 14 years ago, I never owned laptops for myself. I bought them for my wife and daughter. I had my own desktop and each of my 4 sons had their own desktop by the time they were in first grade. All built by daddy. At one point we had 5 desktops and 2 laptops for the girls on the home network.

My dad used the extra money from building 386sx with math-cos to get extra for building ours. I didn't have my own until 3rd or 4th grade, but I helped build the ones he sold, etc. My first job was formatting disks for him (literally hundreds of floppy disks). I got paid by the disk, but got enough to buy my first walkman!
The desktop we built for me to go to college was an Athlon 2800+. That chip I had running 3.2 on air and lasted until I got my laptop (chip still ran fine, just was time to upgrade). Spent my extraneous cash on partying more when I was younger...
Now, overclocking and fine tuning my displays and speakers are my hobbies (and politics, news, researching, etc.). Getting more expensive, but it is fun and makes movies and research more fun!

I'm had an idea about @Mr. Fox's age ever since he posted a Firefox meme or trailer a ways back. At 46, seems like the fit is right for the rest of these posts.
Back in the day, I was gaming and writing code on an Apple ][ e back then. Gaming on things like Wizardry, Zork and Hitchiker's Guide. -
Me first computers and games were more along the lines of Pentium 4 and games were more along the lines of Age of Empires II, Diablo II, Warcraft III, Global Operations.
Seems I got a thing for tactical / strategy games.

Ports of Call, Monkey Islands; Pinball Fantasy and others from the series, Lemmings, Bubble Bobble, Alien Breed, Indiana Jones, Syndicate, Canon Fodder, Pirates and many more.
My change to a spurious game PC was an i486 microprocessor DX4 100.
Then the games came out in parallel. My first game on the DX4 100 was Command & Conquer and so on.
It was interesting with Doom. I was allowed to see the test version, where only the opponents stood around and did not move, but then one could already see what that meant for the game world. Only the revolution of the light conditions was worth the game.
You are right, the forerunner of many was Wolfenstein 3D.
It was a pleasure to defeat the bosses like the cook.
And the hidden entrances behind the walls were not easy to find.
The whole development is far from being an end.
The virtual world has just begun.
VR eyewear interests me already.
But I wanted to wait for the child's diseases.
And the first real games, perfectly adapted to the world of the world of VR, are coming.Last edited: Dec 22, 2016ajc9988, lctalley0109 and Johnksss like this. -
@jointhegame
3D came out in 1992 while castle came out in 1981. Back when the walls could make a person dizzy.
I forgot one. Cave adventure something or the other.(75-77) was before Zork (77-79) Text base games before they had minecraft graphics. Asteroids 1980...Yep, i do remember a few...Last edited: Dec 22, 2016ajc9988, lctalley0109 and jointhegame like this. -
