I hate to rain on your Christmas Day Parade, but those do not count. You need to submit and it needs to be validated online. :D

But it does look like you are getting closer.

well yeah somewhat, it did boot, but after i booted i set in TS the static voltage to 1.32v to get about 1.37v under load, i even tested some fast 32M via TS and got about 5.7sec i think, i have to check if i screenshotted ;)

so far even i just tried to set a daily OC value, i can do 4.2Ghz at -150mV which is under load about 1.16v now i'm settled and look for 4.5Ghz which seems (didn't stresstest much yet) stable so far at -90mV which is about 1.21v under load, light load ofc sits about 1.26v due to LLC ofc, i think this chip is pretty good so far, me previous 6700k was not that great of a OCer but stayed cool, this so far seems both but i have to include the fact the P775DM cooling is more potent than the P771DM one.

I think there aren't any useful bios updates yet for the P775DM3-G?

I think you need to go and look at everyone else's and then look at yours. And you will have your answer as to if your score is legit or not.

My nOOb OC skills obviously are showing.... I got the CPU-Z suicide run/unchecked deal figured out I think. Didn't realize in the CPU-Z validation settings that "extreme OC" checkbox is what was causing that.

So turned that off, and managed to "only" be able to get 4.9GHz validated without getting CPU throttling. Seems like something (BIOS/EC?) likes to throttle/downclock it if it the CPU runs over 1.4V at the desired multiplier (EDIT: in my case anything 50x or higher)

4888.04 MHz @ 1.363V, 63*C.... Not sure how good that is as far as temps/voltage for a stock machine/BIOS on air is though

    http://valid.x86.fr/a0pha9

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3404637_texsc98_cpu_frequency_core_i7_6700k_4888.04_mhz?recalculate=true

Settings I used to get there (1.05.02 BIOS, 1.05.04 EC):
    49x4 @ 1.2852v static
    40x cache @ -125mV adaptive
    Set with Throttlestop

Yep. I knew that's what the problem was, but had to let you figure it out on your own. :)

As to the rest. I don't think anyone has been able to actually bench 5.0 ghz anything. Other than the quick test runs I did. Only talking about a 6700K though.

so you suffer from the exactly same problem as me ;), i almost thought the P870DM3 offered a better VRM solution in general as my P775DM3, can't get past 4.9ghz either, that little extra for 5.0ghz validation i need ends in throttling due to high voltage/amperages (?) to 4.6-4.7Ghz, so far -90mV wasn't stable too for 4.5Ghz, i now just set it back to 4.4Ghz with -90mV after 3h of Wildstar (yeah i dl'ed it again, fun from time to time) i got a freeze.

nono, 4.5Ghz wasn't stable at -90mV which resulted in about 1.21 depending of load ofc, temp wise i was sitting at only 67 °C thats more than ok, so if 4.4Ghz sit's stable at 1.21v or can even UV a bit more, it should be more than sufficient for me for 24/7 settings :D, but i would almost bet that -80mV should work too for 4.5Ghz.

Nothing decided yet dir 24/7 the 6700k reks my 3770k anyway and it's still pretty strong besides unoptimized MMOs out there, for benchies i opting for 4.7-4.8ghz anyways

You guys say you can't get past 4.9 ghz? Where are your actual benchmarks where you are actually running 4.9 ghz at?
    cinebench 115 / R15
    wprime155 1024
    Vantage cpu test
    3dmark11 cpu test

Cpuz is just a speed test for 3 seconds of hold time.

pretty hard to achieve tbh, i not even wanted to "acutal" bench only get validation stable :p

but can't really get past 4.8ghz before the Residency power limit kicks in. I dunno sometimes it works without a hassle than if i restart Residency lights up like mad and cpu stays at max x41 multi, only reboot works then, anybody had success with removing Hotkey driver?

I just hope that with the most brutal of tasks I can get 4.5GHz minimum without hitting 90c when I get mine. I'm talking hours of streaming and gaming at 120fps in like 33c ambients.

I probably desire unrealistic things, but that's what liquid metal and FN + 1 is for amirite :D

Hey guys was talking to a friend about this, but how long does liquid metal stay good for? I was under the impression that it can last several years with it being okay, while he's saying that it won't last a year. Any input?

I had CLU on my GPU for 1.5 years without any degradation in cooling. My CPU needed repasting after about a year and a few months but my CPU heatsink isn't the best.

OMG I love this laptop. I just got the 04 EC from HID and immediately made the throttling 90% better. Heck no tuning at all, just a quick overclock and I'm #7 on Time Spy and #18 on Firestrike! Holy cow, what a difference that made, like 15% in my overall scores. Wow!

I'm still only better than 99% of other systems, I just cant seem to get that last 1%!

(Please no one beat my scores for a few weeks, so I can revel in being near the top with the benchmark gods!)

What's next? Marslake? Plutolake, Intel's coldest CPU line ever, capable of 6GHz at1.2v, but IPC is back to Haswell? xD

I know this is old, but in case others are trying the same thing, the instructions I received didn't include the actual EC update(BIOS only), so after three tries with no change I was simply updating the BIOS 02 to the same 02.

After digging into the BAT files and looking at what everything was doing, I realized there was a EC upgrade that I wasn't even applying.

Long story short, I had to run the ECflash as well, which is really the only thing that mattered in my case, and it made a huge difference for me. I know this may not apply to you Phoenix since yours seemed to be improved from where I was on EC08, but in case anyone else is struggling with the same "upgrade and no change" issue I wanted to post it. I already told HID that they should add a line in the instructions for other folks.

Kudos to HID for helping me so fast. I'm not sure why they don't apply this EC from the get go, but I am thankful they trusted me to flash it and improve the situation 90% in my estimation. Prema BIOS should get me that last 10% and more options, stability too.

If it's the whole file it should have ran on everything. Including the me/bios/ec/ec2. Unless you were suppose to do just flash the ec only?

Here are the instructions I got:

How to flash whole ROM that include ME:
    1. Make sure plugin AC adaptor.
    2. Run MeSet.EXE under pure DOS, the system will auto cold boot.
    3. Run FlashMe.bat under pure DOS.
    4. The system display flash complete message after flash success.
    5. Press power button override 4 seconds, and then re-plugin AC adaptor

Doesn't say anything about an ECFlash in the batch file, only the BIOS flash. I took a chance and ran it after I realized what was going on (nothing was changing, same EC and same BIOS after each time). Maybe something else is screwed up, I tried running them from the root of the USB boot drive just in case my sub dir was causing an issue. No change.

*Also I did get one error at the start of the flash saying that the file was too large to fit or something to that effect. Maybe that was the root of my issue, not sure, I do have a screenshot of it, and sent it to HID just in case.

After ice lake you have tiger lake! Haha! Either ice lake or tiger lake will reintroduce the FIVR of haswell/broadwell also, lowering voltages while impacting heat output. Also, these are both likely to be on 10nm like cannonlake (and coffeelake is the 14nm version of cannonlake, meaning cannonlake isn't a shrink of skylake or Kaby lake most likely). Intel said they aren't doing the tick tock anymore, but inserting a third step at each die node. But by my count, broadwell, skylake, Kaby lake, and coffee lake make FOUR! Granted no-one cared about broadwell and coffeelake won't either unless it works on Kaby lake boards, but it's the fact they are trying to use marketing flash for the fans. Meanwhile, whenever the FIVR are reintroduced, the prior chips board is useless. So ice lake may be able to technically work on a cannonlake board or tiger on ice, unless Intel wants to be dicks about it, but yeah...

Hence why my desktop itch needing skylake-x or zen or both and waiting to find out whether cannon or ice will allow two generations before my next laptop...

Ah, I see. it is missing a few things. In that example it's trying to flash the -me. So I don't even think you were flashing the bios either.

    Step1 sets up -me
Step2 sets up the bios for flashing and then makes a call to x.bat
x.bat flashes just the -me range, but it needs the 8 meg file for this. Then makes a call to the xx.bat
xx.bat then flashes the the first ec and then makes a call to xxx.bat
xxx.bat then flashes the 2nd ec and then shuts down.

I wonder if that is an 8 or a 5 meg file???

    I don't see either, the largest two files are a 2,509KB file P870DM2-01.ls2 and a 3,683KB file P870DM2.02

The EC appears to be a 43KB file eP870DM2.04

From not having a benchable laptop. Finally pulled the trigger on a 16L13.

Honestly, it feels like have a lot more QoL features compared with Clevo.

    CMOS reset button and all.

@jaybee83 are you missing your HWE yet? Lol was helping a friend build a new pc for streaming/art and went w/ the 6700k then D2 had to remind me that it was mainstream so we kicked them back to a 5280k and pushed forward.

I'm getting SUPER excited for Skylake-X though...idky given how far out it is, but god damn 10 cores <3 was HOPING for 12 but I can live with 10.. question is when BWE came out how far were people able to push it?

    BWE is not very overclockable.....

Clocks around 5% lower than HWE and have around 5% more IPC. Evens out I guess......

Not worth it if you have a 8 core already.

For 2k for their X chip Skylake X better have a pretty damn high starting point then, hopefully the IPC will bring higher yields, I know BW was a bust, but most assumed that to begin with.

If not I'm swapping to Xeon at that point..
