Ah, good to know. With 6700K I just use 80 max and 0 min and it worked perfectly and always matched the core ratio. Thanks for the tip.

What do you mean by "lock"? Close the program?

As to wprime 32 - Here is my 4790K and 6700K at 5.1GHz:
    image_id_1522246.jpeg image_id_1745351.jpeg
Now, the 4790K is my ZM laptop, the 6700K is my desktop...

EDIT: That 4790K score was before I learned some of my current optimizations, so I maybe could do better on it...

    Ready for re-installation :)

The blade worked even better than last time.

EDIT: System now uses liquid metal for all thermal contacts, I decided my heatsink fit is good enough now.

Wprime needs to be restarted after almost every single run if you want good numbers. It's only if you run 32 then 1024 that it doesn't matter.

This is me at 4.8 on my 4790K now (a year ago, I was 4.7x at 5.1)... I think with my new tweaks, I need to look at weather channel and do a new 5.1GHz....

It's not a stable OS. 8.1 is. They're basically the same under the hood. I do not get why people keep glossing over all its issues. NO articles like this exist for W7 or W8/W8.1

Oh i dont quite care about the start menu or anything. All i care about is a stable OS without performance loss.
I just hope all my apps and stuff still work on it. But if it is the same underneath, then that shouldn't be a problem.

It also removes multi-monitor stickiness (without adjusting registry anyway) and disables (at your request) the charms bar at the corners of the screen etc. Honestly, I'd consider it essential. Remember it if you get fed up with any of those things =D

Im not sure why everyone loves the start menu, i dont even use it at work on my Windows 7 workstation. With SSD's being everywhere, all it takes is a keypress and typing to get to the desired application super fast. At least for me.

Mainly because it's two clicks for me. I can use a PC without it, really. But it can get annoying with some programs, especially ones that have two executables with the same name (one 64-bit one 32-bit).

Hmm thats understandable. All my programs are 64Bit so its as easy as type and enter.

On another note, the Motherboard comes in tomorrow, so lets see if i have a decent clocker out of the 2.

I am re-placing all thermal pads this weekend (old ones are worn out from development), but having deep respect for using liquid metal directly on GPU and the outside of the CPU. Did you seal the DIEs off after application? Please show us the way! :)

No, I have a little paste left round the edges from previous applications but it comes down to using the right amount.

I actually used pro this time instead of ultra which I found easier to work with due to the applicator having the needle on it.

I'm plugged back in now so I can do a little testing.

I had actually planned to use CLU on the GPU (or GPUs, depending on the next couple of days) and CPU with replaced thermal pads. I think it's going to be required to keep it cool for me hehe.

As a side note I was using GC extreme for a few months. When I took the 7700K out and put back in the 6700K I had run out of GC extreme. I pasted back with IC Diamond 7 and my GPU temps and CPU temps actually went down a few C. Way to close to say there was a difference between the two on my laptop.

I, personally, on my 980m used permatex liquid electrical tape to seal the components around the die (normally covered by the black shroud) and the cpu components. Other than that, I did not. As mr. Fox previously suggested, don't go all the way to the edge of the ihs to prevent it from squishing out the sides. How good is the contact between the components and the heat sink?

Edit: some with that machine have mentioned a higher risk of liquid metal coming out of between the GPU and heatsink. I can't give more than that b/c I don't have the machine...

47x102 in 3dmark timespy, a readout of XTU over the run.
    Ram = 15x102 = 1530mhz 16-17-17-43

It's an old version of 3dmark so the score might not be directly comparable:

GPU is bone stock (single card running as I don't have a second brick with me).

I found the Pro forms a nice shiny mirror-like pool a better than the Ultra. Either way, there's not much between them and Ultra do need to adopt that syringe.

In other news. My PB so far for CB11.5

So, failed bench session this morning. I've narrowed the reasons why I failed down. Looks like more prep will be needed before my next session. Couldn't get 5.1 benchable on my ZM in the garage. Factors I'm considering: 1) different ram and overclock, 2) the CLU I cleaned off the mb back in May/June may have effected certain components, 3) I've had XTU on the system and haven't done a fresh flash since or cleaned up the Windows install, 4) same as number 3 but switch the program the CCC, 5) using a ram disk, 6) settings on priority, etc. All of these could have contributed to the stability issues as to previous stable voltages (potentially needing more voltage for the same multiplier).
The factors that are either unlikely or I don't want to have happened: 1) using TS for adjusting OC rather than bios, 2) degradation of the CPU over the past year.

So, as I said, looks like I've got some work to do before the next attempt...

I tried 4.8 for GB 3.4 fine at same voltage as last year. Couldn't get 4.9 to work. Got pifast at 5.1 same voltage as last year, but couldn't get wprime 32m or GPUPi for CPU 100m stable at 5.1 (BSOD 0x101). Didn't try 5.0, but should have. Unfortunately, it is only -3C here now and will be above freezing within the hour. Increasing the voltage by 30mV (10mV intervals) didn't make wprime possible. So, I decided to come in from the cold, go through potential factors and regroup...

Maybe go back on priority settings for those benchmarks if you have changed them. I remember I got stability issues with raised priorities for Cinbench - my Aw17. Start with what is easiest to change.

That was my #6. Was running them as realtime whereas last year I ran them without changing priority. I plan on trying high instead, which realtime is known to cause potential instability...
