Attempt to help bloodhawk #2: the Vega based GPU with HBM2 and the 1080 Ti will be coming soon. You will lose the value from the 1080 between buying it now and selling that to get the 1080 Ti later...

I was more joking with @bloodhawk than actually buying another set of 1080's.
I wouldn't get anything lower than Titan XP's, but what I wonder is.....Will Nvidia make the same mistakes in the past with allowing the TI to outperform the flagship GPU. -

They did at least wait some time so that Titan owners wont feel too burned. -
I have feeling they will delay Volta to Q3-Q4 and release a Pascal V2 or the Ti. Along with the notebook counterpart.
Or the Ti might just be announced after GDC. -
-
Maybe...But that TI is coming in or around March though.
This has yet to be proven out in the wilds yet....
That's why I benched the 1080s on day one then got rid of them quick. To wait around for the XP's or the TI's. And since our local Microcenter never got any, I just held off.Last edited: Jan 13, 2017 -

Changing that cooler would be the first step, it can't cope with a properly clocked chip on the titan-xp. You place that thing under water and up the power/clocks and it jumps up another generation of performance.
EDIT: My peak CPU temp was around 90C for the 3dmark CPU run by the way.Last edited: Jan 13, 2017 -
Just finished delidding my i7-7700k and got a 17-20°C drop! I am using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut for quick tests (it cleans easily) and will switch over to IC Diamond when I am done playing around. Very pleased, considering it was thermal throttling when running RealBench and now it doesn't.
-
Considering that the Titan X Pascal needs power modding and a cooler change, if the 1080Ti gets released to AIB partners and they raise the TDP or make it 2 x 8-pin, then it very well might under water. It all depends on their ego, I think.
Wasn't Titan X Pascal only launched when it did because of a mistake in a board meeting? xD I don't know if it counts xD
I dunno. I don't think Vega will pass a Titan X Pascal with a cooler change and power limits set to max. If that's the case they won't really change anything. If Vega passes the Titan X Pascal with a good cooler on it though? I'll be so happy it's not even funny.ajc9988 likes this. -

Will have to see when they get a bunch more tested but for 100 dollar premium or less depending on where you buy top 26 percent is not bad. When I bought mine it was 51, 1.424 that they were testing them at.ajc9988 likes this. -

I hope I can bench at 5.1 but more or less just hoping for a daily driver at around 4.8.ajc9988 likes this. -
You should try to go for 4.9GHz 24/7. Have you tested how low Vcore you can manage with 4.8GHz which is your goal? 3 bin up from previous [email protected] as 24/7 should be the target.afloyd, jaybee83, ajc9988 and 1 other person like this.

Just waiting till next week for the bios to release from sager before I can start testing but 4.9 sounds nice.ajc9988 likes this. -
This is why I said waiting for enough to be binned is a better call...

Don't feel bad, I haven't got one either (a DM or a 7700K). My estimation of tax liability has come in higher than I previously thought, so plans on any upgrades (water chiller or 7700K) are on hold... Yay life!

Hell yeah.
Dang thats hard.
I have 2 x 7700k's sitting on my desk, one of them waiting for the desktop parts (for someone else) and the second one mine (actually whichever one clocks better will be mine xD)
I actually was planning on getting a water chiller after @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER used his voodoo magic on me, but there is a chance i might be moving to Vancouver in Feb so the Xeon build and the chiller are now on hold

I'm looking at the S&A industrial chillers. Don't know how loud they run, but it holds 6 liters and pushes 13L/min (3.4 gallons/minute) and is rated for 1400W heat dissipation, range of 5-35C water temp, etc.
Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk -
Yeah noise is a big factor for me, do you know much those (S&A) cost?
Another prospect that sounded fun and promising, was to build my own chiller. -
5354.33Ghz
http://valid.x86.fr/cnqv7r
building your own you could do for the cost of an old window ac unit. Disable the the temp control and you will get subzero temps of about -30. I think you could get away with 100 bucks total if you look real good. -
So, if buying from resellers on eBay, you can get the one I'm looking at new for just under $600. CW-5200DH. The 10L/min version of that is just over $500, but the 16L/min is over $700. If buying directly from China, the cost is about the same as the 800W water chiller from Koolance. The CW-3000 is only around $200 for 800W heat dissipation...

Johnksss@iBUYPOWER Well done there. I got close ...

That is indeed an amazing price for the Koolance ones.
-
What I meant to say there is buying an S&A directly from China costs closer to $1300 like the Koolance 800W chiller...

I'm working on it. Man, it feels good to get back into the 5ghz range of things. I missed that from the AW days with the 2960xm.

Not in cpu validation. Because that's only a speed benchmark.
It needs to be in one of the harder ones.ajc9988 likes this. -

I know the gains in skylake trailed off at around 4.4GHz IIRC so that should be similar in Kaby. -

Pretty sure this is the CW-3000 that fugger used for this score of 4.6 on a 6950X @bloodhawk, @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER
