Yup, unfortunately for benching, but for everything else it does a fine job. I got it to stick at 44x and am working on 46x at the moment. If it can hold 46x, that would be pretty respectable for this chip.

Hope you get around to taking the Asus to the track soon. It's always fun to new records being achieved.

For the love of the game...Cheers. (<-- Ice Tea Lemonade)

I would really like to see a viable solution for a desktop that is easy to move anywhere and use from a couch or desk. A standaed case with a handle and folding keyboard/monitor combo (empty laptop) connected by as thin a cable bundle as possible seems ideal to me.

    Hey!

I have a question for those of you who know

    [Is this even OC?]

I want to buy a display. It is supposed to be full adobeRGB. Will my colors clip? Or they will look oversaturated?

This monitor cannot display normal colors in it's sRGB profile as it's broken - trying to do that results in washed out colors, washed out black and washed out white...

Your colours will look oversaturated if you've not used adobe RGB 100% before, but you'll get used to it (or so I have had it reported to me).

Content designed for regular colour spaces can certainly look off. Some calibration is usually advised.

They are just looking saturated - or they are clipping to max color values too early?

Calibration using Spyder or some of those calibration thingies?

My point of question is more along the lines of: Do the colors look saturated as in red is stronger than on a cheaper display, or they oversaturate and after half of red is met there are no more differences and the red clips to max red so there are no shades?

They look over saturated usually yes as the scales are so different that each panel covers.

    Okay....

Thank you for helping me out!

Then - this means that I shouldn't buy any monitor that is above sRGB if I don't want oversaturation? I mean - I really love punchy and well saturated colors - but I don't want them to clip to the max levels - I really need a good distinction between shades in my field of work.

Is it a similar situation with the 4K panel on P870 and P775?

Yeap, mainly because Windows doesnt manage its desktop color spaces properly. But you get used to it pretty quickly.

    But is it better?

How bad is the situation when doing color critical work - for example when tweaking an image to appear on the internets?

That's the same issue you deal with when working in any sort of medium reproduced on the user's equipment. In audio you listen to some reference tracks you know by heart and calibrate your ears to your monitors. You can do the same here.

Yeah but in Audio I know very well what I'm doing - it's a matter of years of audiophile experiece... with monitors I'm really new to this - I have no idea what to do - I don't have a spyder - and even if I did, it seems like calibration for video is much harder without something to call perfect I.E. an ideal image or reference, something you know how should look...

    Thank you!

    That is somehow helpful !

What I still need to know is what monitor to buy to get best colors but to not lose anything on the road - as I also produce content for internet and PC usage and I could assume that 90% of people have less than 60% of sRGB covered by their displays ...

No, you can buy wider gamut displays, but you have to organize your color management! This means calibrations for the display, which take different forms. You can use an .icc/icm file, which some programs ignore, or use different software to apply the file other than the OS. Create a 3D LUT (look up table) for each gamut you need (also in different versions for different programs, such as Adobe programs, MadVR, etc.). You load the appropriate calibration file to work in the gamut you need. It takes a lot more work to do it right, but also allows to release multiple versions of the content, in this case sRGB and Adobe RGB, but others also do it for DCI P3 content).

Do more research on what is needed to do color management properly, but you shouldn't be deterred from getting a wider gamut. It is more future proofed than you know. You just must learn a lot more to do it right! :)

First off, consider an i1 display pro (i1D3). Second, start digging around AVS forums, they have industry leading calibration experts that chime in a bit. Third, learn the history of the standards, going through both gamut and gamma calculations, gray scale, different display technologies (IPS, VA, TN, OLED, quantum dot) and the benefits and drawbacks of each. Some of this is easier to learn by researching television sets and standards. It applies equally to computer displays, but it is broken down more to make it easier for consumers to understand.

Hope this helps. If not, PM me

Anyone time to measure the M.2 slot height in the P870DMx?
Having my finger on the Alphacool M.2 heat-spreader order button:

    3.2mm looks about right
Slots have 15345T written on top if that helps.

    FYI
2mm height from the highest point on an Intel 535 in SSD1, to level with metal frame
6.5mm height from motherboard surface to metal frame, both slots P870dm-g

I think the one I ordered for the 960 Pro in the ECTF5 will be here tomorrow. I will physically verify fit for you to confirm it will work in the P870. I think it will fit, but just barely.

Thought this was an interesting read about KBL/DDR4 overclocking. Considering many of us are getting better results with a P870DM3 than some are getting with an enthusiast desktop mobo, I guess we really should not feel 'special' in a bad way. Seems hit or miss for everyone. You either love it, or not.
