It's also a really nice colour blue. I like that colour. This has no functional benefit, but it'll be bonus points if it's better than CLU.

if it isnt' and it sticks to the heatsink like that...
AND IS BLUE
is this new amazeballs sauce? Do we storm the castles and make OEMs buy out all the stocks? xD -

I'm curious , have you had issues with grizzly yet ? I personally haven't.Dr. AMK likes this.

Nope. None so far, but I only put it on the cpu and cpu die. Never on the gpu.bloodhawk likes this.

I have it on the GPU for a long ass time now, and the CPU every time i have repasted.
I might have a KM1 coming in in a few weeks, kinda curious to see how well it performs with the VC heatsink.
End of the day, its seems be that it needs a good fitting heatsink, since only a few people have reported issues with it.D2 Ultima likes this. -

Is that a Prema-modded MSI? Am I seeing such shining radiance?

Very nice and very tempting. Cruising at 4.8GHz quite easily eh?
So I've heard about the F7. That's very intriguing as well.
Happy Birthday as well.

Yup, 4.8 is my base ThrottleStop (Profile 4) and validated 5.0GHz with almost no effort. Was just waiting for the Prema Magic to unlock some things so I could up the power limits, etc. Default settings were way low and a lot of stuff (including memory) was not adjustable at all with the stock BIOS. I had no "Current Limit Throttling" like we have been fighting with Clevos, but lots of "Power Limit Throttling" with the stock BIOS, and had no way to increase them properly.
Thanks. It was a very happy birthday this year.tribaljet, ajc9988, lctalley0109 and 3 others like this. -
Couldn't let them gift him a stock system for his birthday, could I?
That was my little gift to brother Fox.
(This specific model (1080 LGA combo) was actually co-developed by Eurocom and can not be ordered from MSI directly. Only Eurocom and EVOC offer it.)Last edited: Jan 29, 2017TomJGX, ajc9988, CaerCadarn and 12 others like this. -
Excellent. Very tempted to get my hands on the 7700K. We should be seeing you topping the charts here soon.
Great stuff Prema.
Hope all is well.

I feel some interference in the force (cpu frequency). I recommend a pinch of Prema BIOS.

Depends what the CPU is setup to do
If it's stock it can be related to number of active cores.

@DRevan Interference in the force? Pinch of Prema bios? What are you talking about?

So what's the judgement? Regular paste is as good or better on the GPUs?

Won't know till others post temps, but it seems to be holding steady for me.

I was hoping it would surpass CLU T_T

I agree in spades.
Happy belated Birthday Mr. Fox
From the Alienware forums now to Clevoland, you have always been one of, if not my favorite, forum member to follow and know. From your direct candor to your BGA rants, it has been a pleasure to know you.
The Tornado is a wicked and deserved gift and props to Eurocom. -
K|ngp|n Cooling Thermal Paste

The difference will probably increase with higher clock speed.
It would have been nice to see this K|ngp|n Cooling Thermal Paste vs. a standard paste as Gelid extreme, ICD and Grizzly Kryonaut. Perhaps an alternative for those who do not use Liquid metal today (not applied from the reseller or they do not dare to try). -
lctalley0109 Notebook Evangelist
Looking at the website I do not see the paste available yet. I would be willing to pick some up and do some pre test with IC diamond and then with kingpin thermal paste. -
But isn't it running quiet a bit (5c+) hotter with the blue stuff?!
Last edited: Jan 29, 2017hmscott, lctalley0109, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Against liquid metal, yeah. Kryonaut is the non-LM thing, Conductonaut is like a runny CLU with a higher rating.jaybee83, hmscott, lctalley0109 and 1 other person like this.

Overclocking & Temperatures - 7700K
"Out of the box we threw the DeepCool Captain 120 EX on the Core i7-7700K and measured the idle and load temperatures. At idle the CPU ran at 31 degrees and load temps went as high as 77 degrees. The 6700K was then installed in the same system, it idled at 30 degrees but under load hit 81 degrees. I had read reports indicating that the 7700K was a much hotter chip than the 6700K, but that certainly isn't the case when comparing the two chips I have"

Power Consumption
![[IMG]](images/storyImages/Power_01.png)
"When it comes to power consumption it looks like Kaby Lake uses a few watts less, not bad given that it's clocked higher but not exciting either"jaybee83, hmscott, lctalley0109 and 1 other person like this. -
Tbh comparisons between 6700ks and 7700ks and even between the same chips are really pointless at stock voltages. Specially since everywhere we look everyone seems.to be running at a different stock voltage.
Some.people are fine at stock, others are overheating to all hell.Mr. Fox, jaybee83, lctalley0109 and 1 other person like this. -
I know
But much can be fixed with delidding, thermal paste - Liquid metal, customize the cooling better and adapting the voltage for your chips. Not always plug and play

Very nice! Always great to see screenies...
Keep in mind that Liquid Metal is not the best for benching as it has a rating of only (10C) <<NOT minus<< (at least with Grizzly Conductoanut).
Whereas Grizzly Kyronaut has a rating of -200C.
If you bench using LM at 10C for an extended period of time, the LM bubbles up and turns into a strange texture. I have a pic of it somewhere that I'll post if I can dig it up.Last edited: Jan 30, 2017jaybee83, Johnksss and lctalley0109 like this. -
I can guarantee you I'll never have a PC below -10c for any length of time. If I ever use it in under -10c by the time it's been on a couple minutes it'll be much hotter xDjaybee83, lctalley0109 and temp00876 like this.

Ah I stand corrected....haha...I don't know why the typo...maybe I was thinking of LN2
Thanks -
I don't think benching under 10C is the biggest problem for us with laptops
Perhaps if you are in the garage in the winter like
@Rage Set with temperatures well below zero, but the main use of your machine is inside home with normal temp
or with AC. Aka Liquid metal her we go
