These are the fans I have. Although I have yet to reach 5200 RPM though. Most I have seen is 3800RPM's

Clevo swaped the direction for CPU vs. one of the GPu fan in the newer models.

How ironic, I had just put some fans on my U3 and rigged it (clean of course ;p) to a voltage controller I had laying around yesterday.
I'll post some pics.
Update: Here's a snap of the set up.
Note: If you don't mind the fan noise of your laptop and/or keep your laptop fans on Max anyway, never mind trying to find quiet fans for your U3 as the db's of your laptop will be much greater.
I'm going to order up a pair of the fans @Mr. Fox has in his parts list as they seem to pump out some serious air... great stuff.
Awesome.
Great stuff.

The reason why the modded laptop coolers work is because they cool everything and not just the fins....
@iunlock No way we could get away with the way you have yours. In my case I would be losing ike 95 percent of the fan pressure. And we use to do it like that back in 2011 with the M18XR1Papusan likes this. -
Yea it all depends on the set up. My focus is clearly not meant to try and jam in more air through the fans lol...honestly this set up is for giggles and more so for my XPS.
-
Ah, so I see. Then the factory one should have worked fine for that, right?

Well as we all know who are familiar with the stock U3 fans, they are worthless.
So no, the stock factory fans do not do justice, other than aesthetics.
-
With clevo's QC we might get wildly varying thickness lol
Do you have a heatsink revision? The "bridge" only has 2 heatpipe as opposed to 2 here.

I got a few good years out of them stock fans.
-
Interesting. Didnt notice that.
-
Yea, with his (or our) never revision. The pad might be different.
I ordered some of the cheap china pads in 1.5 and 2.5, will let you know how it turn out.

No pun intended.
It moves air, to be fair. haha...
Cheers -
Ill dig out my 2nd VC heatsink and take a picture tomorrow morning.
I actually have a **** tons of those.

I have the same older heatsink as you with two pipes on single side.
That stock picture from the newer model (single pipe or one pipe on top and one on bottom?) is from EVOC as all my cams are broken.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Is the new model better than the 2 pipe?
I want more pictures of that new hs revision. -
If they removed one pipe then it would offload less heat to the CPU and <>.
In that case they had to change the support frame from the top row to support the pipe and keep it from bending/breaking.
It's not in the latest service manual or parts list, I'll ask them to make a top shot...
EDIT: Did you receive those BIG BOY FANs, yet?Last edited: Apr 15, 2017Mr. Fox likes this. -
Good stuff here... U should start selling modded Laptop coolers
.... I bet you would do pretty good I would buy one and I'm sure a few other people here would too.

OK, using solder paste that melts at 138°C was a success for soldering the shim on the warped CPU heat sink donated by @Ted@HIDevolution and @Donald@HIDevolution and @thattechgirl_viv
I tested using the method recommended by @John@OBSIDIAN-PC and this time I used the ChipQuik solder paste @bloodhawk suggested. I tested it first on the warped leftover P750ZM heat sink and immediately noticed a difference. The pasted turned silver and flowed as soon as the temps went above 140°C (checking with infrared thermometer).
The temps are decent. About what I would expect with a heat sink that fits correctly.

Have you measured the thickness difference?

Nope don't have calipers

I was posting it more so about the information he was talking about. People assume it's microsoft 100% of the time and yet it's more the employees and other underhand individuals doing stuff on the DL.Mr. Fox likes this.

They are both pluses and minuses regarding what may be true regarding Micro$haft. But no one is and can be 100% sure. I want the facts on the table before I should believe on M$. Perhaps we in the future will know the truth? I do not know. But M$ is in deep water if only some of this is true and comes to the light...ajc9988 likes this.

I am worried very little about security and far more concerned about the overall OS being a pile of feces that belongs on a junior high schooler's smartphone more than a PC. It has such a huge payload of stupid garbage that there is hardly any room left for goodness. When you strip away all of the worthless bloatware filth what you are eventually left with is less stable version of Windows 7 with a butt-ugly UI only a shade better than W8.X was, or a shade worse. I am also more worried that the people that make it are retarded and don't have a pulse on what matters. Otherwise, the clowns would not keep slipping multiple versions of trash our way.
I am also more concerned about their god complex and shenanigans to try to force adoption of W10. What they are doing through Windows "Updates" to Sky Lake and Kaby Lake owners on Windows 7 that are not intelligent enough to block them deserves a bullet to their Nazi skulls.Ashtrix, temp00876, TBoneSan and 1 other person like this. -

They're too busy working on silly filth like Candy Crush, Cortana the Digi-Slut and Hello, destroying Windows gaming with UWP cancer, and refining their cartoon UI, to be bothered by with eavesdropping. At least for now.
-
I am going to guess it will eliminate the need for it. May also eliminate the need to remove the c-clips or using thinner thermal pads on the CPU heat sink. When mine arrive I will put the c-clips back on the screws, use stock heat sinks (no shim) and use stock pads to test the fit with pre-scale film. I suspect the extra height may solve most, if not all, of these issues.

So, the tools were put up for sale by this group last year and they released a taste of the toolbox while auctioning the best tools off, I believe, in August. The most recent dump of hacks was because they got pissed at Pompeo, in part, the new head of the CIA, former Kansas congressmen, with some of his recent statements.
One reporter talked to a hacker which said this contained more zero days than he's ever seen released at once. News outlets are spinning that it only effects old M$ systems, so move to Windows 10 (HA)! M$ said they have already addressed the majority and are working to patch the rest.
This should not be confused with the CIA vulnerabilities exposed, including the use of a repopulating code sent through M$ update. These are different exploits, with some possible overlap.
Next, intelligence agencies don't necessarily ask for the built in back doors all the time, but even Hillary Clinton pushed for a back door situation when talking about a partnership with silicon valley during the election, during the time the FBI was seeking a court order for Apple to unlock a cell phone. Now we know the CIA and NSA both have ways to infiltrate Apple OS.
Instead, intelligence agencies don't do white hat like this jackoff suggests all the time. They actually purchase zero days on the black market and will disappear a person that crosses them after purchase. So they stack zero days "for security."
So, the NSA/shadow brokers situation is the continuation of a story from the past couple years. No, not everything had been fixed. Yes, the security fixes are also found in the March and April security updates. Yes, Microsoft is using this as a way to attempt to lock older OSes out from using newer hardware. Yes, our government made security on devices less safe in the name of national security.

What company makes it and where can I get it?
-
Where can we buy these?

It figures, I tried buying both, a Sky lake IHS and Kabylake IHS and they're both out of stock. Don't know if the Skylake IHS will work with Kabylake but it's 1mm higher. I'll see eventually
