Put it this way. No one running through these forums are 100% on the "up and Up" And just like them, they make plenty of mistakes. The difference is....No one is pointing them out in the news every day. 50 times a day. Do they have some shady practices. Sure. They do, but so does about 90 percent of the world when it comes to their own personal agenda. People think companies put up cameras to protect them from the outside world......NO, it's to protect from within more so than not.
And at the end of the day, it's not just Microsoft. It's pretty much everyone is selling off your information. How do you think your creditors found you? Now whether it's the heads of overzealous employees trying to make a buck....is not not fully known in each situation. -
If we would invest as much to teach younger generations some basic values early on in their lives, then maybe we wouldn't have to be so paranoid and spy on everyone to 'protect' us from ourselves in our adult lives.
What is happening now looks more like we are creating what we are trying to prevent...over and over again...two wrongs don't make a right.

I can attest to this. Internal loss is almost always greater than external loss. Also, groups like Thompson-Reuters and Lexis can and do sell information on people. I can purchase their current information on a person if I have enough base information that way I can serve subpoenas, file cases, send demand letters, etc. That is the legal side. Have you ever made purchases online? The more you do, the more likely that information has been skimmed. Doesn't have to be phished, companies have been hacked so often, it was taken from them in a lot of cases. It is just a matter of your information is in the block group sold for card numbers and a person tries your numbers before they get rid of the list. I've had my bank card numbers stolen that way once. Noticed it and cancelled the cards with only $50 charged, which the bank ate. But credit cards and banks eat huge losses like this annually, costing billions upon billions.
Security is to make people feel warm and fuzzy, secure. Same with privacy. Truth is, it doesn't exist. You can and should do what you can, but know you cannot stop those that are determined.

I think this is less of a concern than many think. The majority of kids are good. Religion, on the whole, is going away with Millennials being the least religious generation on record, and those coming after even less. Morality, instead, is being practiced through a sense of philosophy and justice, not on the basis of punishment in the afterlife. Further, this is why concepts like Universal Basic Income, Expanded Basic Human Rights, a rejection of capitalism in favor of a socialistic hybrid economic form is being sought, etc. The youth have a better sense of morality than people give credit. What is scarier is the rise of extremism and the grouping of people in such a way to justify bigotry, hatred, and oppression. If you look, Boomers vote more than any group worldwide. They are electing oppressive individuals all over. Conversely, where very conservative people are loosing is to the progressive left. It makes for a very interesting time. But, I don't think pushing the view it is "those pesky teenagers" or youths is proper.
Edit: We must also look at number of bad actors versus percentage. in the 1960s, lets say there was 3B on earth, 1% bad people. That means 30 million bad people. Jump to today with over 7B. Let's say the amount of bad people declined to 0.75%. Even with this, that is 52.5M bad people. That many people can wreak havoc for the rest. Further, as tech advances, it will be adopted by all, even bad actors. So, it is a popular idea things are getting worse when they may, perhaps, be getting better.Last edited: Apr 17, 2017perion likes this. -
I am not blaming the younger generation at all. I am saying that we are neglecting our own duties in leading the way as good examples. We have to overcome our own small egos and be more inclusive and not only care for people of our own doctrine, family, religion, gender, nation etc and think of mankind as being one universal family where everyone has to be catered for of as to the best of our ability. Then those 'problems' that we are facing today will just vanish in front of our eyes without any form of fight...
-
I believe we are getting there slowly. Unfortunately, with the next couple decades, we may see it increase or decrease depending how we treat upcoming calamities!
https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms14856
But coming to the realization we are one species, fighting for survival, and trying to move beyond the concepts of survival to understand the pursuit of happiness and the meaning of life, as well as exploration of our galaxy, etc., we will do great things. But, we may be approaching the great filter and a colony collapse.

Colony collapse due to population overshoot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overshoot_(population)
Just saying, if we do not achieve what you state, considering global population is estimated to be over 10B by 2050, and inefficient use of resources on earth...Prema likes this. -
Let me ask you this....Totally off topic, but you'll get the idea...
Something about how we all supposedly got here...
If Adam is first.
Then Eve is second.
Then Cain and Abel are third and fourth.
Cain kills able and is banished to the Land of Nod.
Where he takes a wife.
Question number 1 thru 3
Where did his wife come from?
Where did her parents come from?
Who built the Land of Nod? (Lands were considered cities in that time frame)
Now, because of how you are brought up....The true answer will not make sense till you really understand and reverse your way of thinking. The way you were taught from birth. And then and only then can you understand the possible real truth.
That whole situations is the biggest conspiracy theory in the world and yet it's been swept under the rug since the beginning of our time.
Misinformation, redirection & stolen information. That is what the world is about.....It comes at us from all angles.... Everyone is getting lost at big business, but it's not just them. It's everyone else in between.
So as much as people think Microsoft should be held accountable, then so should the employees that work for them and everyone that has stolen from them over the years. I don't see people jumping out to go turn themselves in in the interest of justice and accountablility -
Right, if we don't manage to unite in time then nature will force us to do so, but on its own therms...either way the underlying 'lesson' will remain the same, we will have to learn to work together and think as a whole, especially once we have to pay the price for not doing so much earlier...
On a more serious note

I'm not saying blame M$ for it. Zero days are just exploits they could not find. The only times to blame a company for this is if it is horrible code and would be obvious or if they colluded with the intelligence agencies. Nothing I've said suggests collusion except for what Hillary was pushing for between intelligence agencies and silicon valley. It raises questions on who knew what and when, but other than that, there exists no proof. You could maybe blame them for ****ty code, but some things cannot be foreseen even by the best minds in the industry at the time (ex-hackers turned security advisers). I hold the intelligence agencies, not M$, responsible on these occasions. They are who withheld the information from those that needed to know to fix security issues. So, in other words, the intelligence agencies used software companies, and by extension their consumers, as useful idiots. Knowledge is the true power and currency, as you point out.Johnksss likes this.

I think this is due to trying to shore up margins with upcoming pricing cuts, personally. Likely, AMD gave them a good kick in the cajones when they kicked them in their pants! -
If improved cooling would have been the underlying idea which caused the change, then they would have probably kept the existing 'bridge' and just added the new 'support'...I am going with @ajc9988 's theory of cost savings.

Ah man, a 4th fan would work wonders with one long or 1 long / 1 short fin array, but i , at least, wont be investing any more money on high end clevo DTR's. There are just too many issues / flaws that should not be there in such expensive high end systems.

Thanks Mr. Fox, I ordered both. The Skylake one is 1mm higher, 4.4mm and Kaby was 3.4mm. I'll see which one works better.

We often make assumptions based on frame of reference, and that's a good point. What was done before Adam was formed from the dust of the earth is not explained, but it's silly to assume nothing was going on before then. It's just not part of the account in Genesis. Adam was created for a specific purpose, not the first thing created.
Now, the technology question is why did Micro$oft create such a crappy OS in Windows 10? What did they have to gain by making such a piece of trash? Or, are they just that stupid that they don't have the capacity to recognize what an abortion they created? -
That was said about every single version of windows to this date.....So why would windows 10 be any different?Papusan, Mr. Fox, razorfold and 1 other person like this.

It is amusing how short some people's memories are.
Literally every single Windows OS has been called crap by huge amounts of people for years, its nothing new and will likely never change. Microsoft could literally re-release Windows 7 and call it 11 without changing anything and people will call it the worst OS ever and swear about how great XP / 7 is.bloodhawk likes this. -
Well, yes... But, I think it is actually very different this time. There were reasons before, but until Windows 8.X ruined the experience, I was almost always excited about a new version of Windows. I used to think very highly of Micro$loth as a company and even wanted to work for them someday. Not any more. They suck.
Windows 8.X sucked because of the Modern UI and CPU performance impairments, and it still sucks for those reasons. We had good and legitimate reasons to hate it, just as we do with Windows 10. It's not about resisting change. It's about resisting garbage.
If you look at the reasons we say we hate Windows 10, those are remarkably different than even Windows 8.X was. Previous versions of Windows did not have all of the Nazi filth like keyloggers, Skype, OneDrive, Cortana, advertising ID, telemetry and forced updates. Even the wrong drivers get forcefully rammed up our asses. Those are the things (besides a tacky cartoon UI with Lego tiles for icons) that make Windows 10 such an atrocity. Micro$haft is now doing their best Nazi dictator impression by trying to force adoption of Windows 10 through intentionally breaking systems with Sky Lake and Kaby Lake and Ryzen CPUs. That qualifies their OS as malware.
So, today it is more about their objectionable approach as a company than it is their crappy OS. They've gone way too far and need to be crucified financially for their crimes. Their actions are not those of a customer-centric company. They are the actions of a retarded dictator that deserves to be executed by a firing squad. They are the Kim Jung-Un of the technology world.Last edited: Apr 17, 2017 -
I was on board with Win 10 during the tech preview (not to be confused with the insider preview). Everything went downhill after. Now that I created a properly gutted version, I don't mind it. You guys might not be happy with the mods I did though. All apps are removed. I removed all remoting components that I could (save one, which is supposed to be for legacy internet connection, but without it, you cannot have internet). I found the anniversary edition requires a breaking of the Windows Update after install. It won't automatically work, but is functional until you do. But once broken, even the third party downloader won't work for updates. So I have the benchmarking one fully stripped and the other for daily use up. Nothing gets downloaded because Ent. edition (or I haven't been forced yet to date). But that allows me to download any necessary updates I feel should be installed on the other build. But no skype, no onenote, no remote desktop, no remote registry, no remote etc. I break a couple other things, like no Cortana (which sucks because no search until classic shell is installed, making it a necessity). I also gut Edge and IE. Only the necessary part needed for windows search is left from IE. Now, if your software requires iexplore.exe for registration, you're SOL. But, it really is about like a non-streamlined Win 7. Plus, for the software that has optimized Win 10 over 7 (there are a few programs), you get that benefit. Also, no server healing and no asimov telemetry. Some of the files you are supposed to use command lines to prevent telemetry being sent you don't have to do because the files DO NOT EXIST!
But, my point is all the extra **** they crammed in ruined what I was hopeful for. I now have a fairly secure product, no windows defender, I have one version with and one without windows firewall (have another program performing that function), and really have a product I don't mind now. It takes both DISM and NTLite to get all my mods to work, full removal of certain components, and injection of custom driver support, but it works.
As for the list of decent MS OSes: 3.0/11, 95 (pre-release build), NT, XP, and 7. Win 10 has potential, but they have ruined certain aspects and I have to customize it to feel good about it moreso than any prior version. I'll update after the Win 10 Ent. Creator's edition comes out May 1 and I change the .esd update file to a full modified iso. But that is a couple weeks out. Around then, I'll also finally set up either a DLNA or check out a third party software that works with my home network and TVs.
Now I'm just rambling... -
Yeah, at the end of the day I could care less really. As long as it works for what I need it to do, then that is fine with me. And what does not work I can fix.
Right now I'm more concerned with why 3dmark does not want to work. Who cares about Microsoft at the moment.
-
Me too... works great for me. None of the filth that I don't want. My way or the highway. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to keep all of the utterly worthless trash that Windows 10 ships with.
Unfortunately, not everyone has our talent. I really do hope that severe financial harm comes to Micro$loth for their behavior. They deserve legal calamity and financial tragedy for their asinine approach to business. I feel really bad for the people that are smart enough to see and feel all of the problems and have no idea how to fix them. -
They're not intentionally breaking systems, they're just not providing updates for those systems with newer processors. You do realize that Windows 7 is coming up on 8 years old now right? Why should a company keep adding in new hardware support for an OS that old for free?
Same thing happened with XP in 2009, mainstream support ended and no more updates were provided unless you were an enterprise customer with extended support. Windows 7 mainstream support ended in 2015. Same thing will eventually happen with Windows 10.
Also like you've been told several times using crap like Micro$haft, Nazi dictator, and M$ makes you look like a mentally challenged child, good to see that it still hasn't stopped you. Use words like an adult if you want people to take your argument seriously.
No I agree there are many things wrong with Windows 10, but what I'm specifically talking about is how short people's memories are. When Windows 7 launched there were millions of people who swore it was garbage and reminded everyone about how great XP was. When XP launched there was a huge backlash against the "fisher price OS" and how Win 2000 was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
People hating on a new version of Windows is nothing new, its existed since like the release of Win 95 and quite possibly even before that.bloodhawk likes this. -
Im having issues with the update. No matter how many time it tries to install, the installer crashes. Tried multiple reinstalls as well.

I tried that tool, but wasn't satisfied with the results on its own. I actually learned more about DISM and used that for removing components (not just the packaged version above) to finish clearing components after using NTLite and found that it fixed a couple issues I had with just my NTLite build. A lot of people don't want to learn the whole process though (and I google a lot to remember some of the commands I need while doing it), nor is there a need because of good people in the different communities creating great tools like the one you just highlighted.
I hear you. I listened to the complaints about Win 7, but I was an early adopter. It actually did get better from the tech preview to the final, although it still needed work. Hell, if you tweaked the settings from stock, Vista and 7 weren't too different. But the larger problem is how much work it takes to now setup the OS for what I want (including the laundry list Mr. Fox gave on Win 10 issues). I don't mind putting in a little customization, but I had to learn a fair amount to fix this one. THAT is the issue! -
Did you remove components from the build you are on? It can fail if a component it is looking for isn't there to be fixed. I've had the same problem with the update rollups they started doing! If even one of my mods got rid of the wrong file or component, it will NEVER finish! That may be part of the issue. Also, why don't you turn it into a fresh iso how you want it and try that? Also, if you remove the same components and follow the same processes you used to modify the first one, it usually installs without a hitch...
-
Nope same old stock install. Ill just try a Revo Uninstall and then try doing it over.ajc9988 likes this.

An alternative is to use the downloader from M$ and create a USB. Then try it from there.
-
The tool was recently updated and works extremely well with RS2. I also used the exact same tool to update my Windows 7 ISO with native NVMe and USB 3.0 support. It also allowed me to incorporate updates that I want, like Kernel Mode Driver Framework and the latest .Net Framework.
NTLite is very effective. I have used it, but it is more complicated and requires research. I use this tool simply because I don't need to take time for extra research only because it does everything I want, removes all of the filth, and does it in a very simple an straightforward manner. If you tried the previous version with RS1, it was not that effective, especially with Enterprise version.
The nice thing about Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB is that it has none of the Store and UWP filth from the start. So, there is less of a mess to clean up. It irks the crap out of me to have Skype, OneDrive and Cortana bloatware running in the background all of the time, especially since I have no use for that garbage. The Try Office come-on garbage is also ludicrous.
If you want a properly gutted version, I've got an ISO you can try for Pro. I left Store and XBOX so I can play Gears of War 4 and Gears of War Ultimate Edition, but everything else is totally gutted. Works flawlessly. I also found a hack to add that back into Enterprise 2016 LTSB and that also works flawlessly.
BTW - the problem I was having turns out to be the BPX NVMe SSD. I moved it to the Tornado F5 and the problem followed it to that machine. I have no issues with Windows 10 Creators Abortion on the 960 Pro. All the problems are solved now on the DM3. I guess I will need to contact MyDigitalSSD for a firmware update or RMA. -
Wat. No lol. My Windows 10 install is working perfectly fine. The only issue is with 3D Mark Update install ****ting the bed. Every other installer/update works fine.
I did a dirty Creators Update and other than a few tiny glitches, everything is fine.
I should have mentioned in the post above the issue is with 3DMark, like i did in the post before that. :S -
It took many builds and plenty of learning to get NTlite right, but after learning it, I kind of have a template I can use (screen shots on prior builds) that I then modify for changes in components. The components are similar enough between windows 7 & 8 that it is my go to tool. DISM is just a supplement and does better for driver integration. I may have to give the new build a try on that tool.
Sent from my XR6P10 using Tapatalk -
The updated version 3DMark is totally jacked up. Futuremark needs to go back to the drawing board on that.
I hope I am not going to jinx myself, but since I removed the BPX earlier this morning from the DM3, I have not experienced a single IRQ NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL or PAGE FAULT IN NON-PAGED AREA error on the DM3. I have been getting about 5 or 6 of those BSOD every day under Windows 10 and none whatsoever with Windows 7. I had Windows 7 on the 960 Pro and Windows 10 on the BPX, so go figure.
So, it appears that was also the BPX beside the other issue.Last edited: Apr 17, 2017TBoneSan, Prema, Johnksss and 1 other person like this. -

LOL.
Weirdly enough i barely have issues with Windows 10. For obvious reasons, i get rid of the Antivirus crap, telemetry, Cortana. And leave everything else alone, things work just fine for what i use it for. I use CentOS for work. Love OneDrive integration in W10 though, super handy for and i use it every day. -
Mine installs, it just does not want to function correctly.
@ajc9988 I use the Ntlite as well. One of it's best features that no one has spoke on is the fact that you can take an iso on a fully setup os (Windows 10) and incorporate all the drivers right into the iso. So when you do your install it will setup everything so no drivers have to be installed later. That includes installing software needed as well. I have found that it has an issue with the airplane driver and fingerprint driver though. I need to get around to figuring that part out. -
I do that same thing. Huge time saver and makes a fresh install much easier. You can also put the key into the image, if needed, and setup the services in part. It is a really awesome program!
Edit: I forgot my work around on that specific driver. It might be one of them I use DISM to add during that stage of my build.
Sent from my XR6P10 using Tapatalk -
No need to put in a key, it will self activate once it hits the internet.
Also updates and .net
3dmark, benching and monitoring software. LOL
Although that seemed kind of sketchy under Windows 10, but under Windows 7 it would all install. I did not do the commands to make it fully automated so I hit the yes/ok or any other positive answer button and watched it all install.
My work around was to just reinstall it after the os install finished and it would change from yellow exclamation point to working driver. Most of the time.
@bloodhawk Do you still have your external thunderbolt case?ajc9988 likes this. -
Yeap have the board and stuff.
-
Will it run a 10 gigabit card?
-
Not sure why it wouldn't. But i dont have one at hand to test. I have tried GPU's, external M.2 to PCIe cards, Red Encode/Decode Card, and an Asus Essence STX.
-
I'm pricing 10 gig stuff now because I want faster data transfers and was wondering which way to go for the laptop. Right now it does about 185MB using both nics.
-
So im guessing thats a paired up data rate ? Technically you are over 1Gbps :O
-
Another benefit of running "updated windows 10" It has SMB3 Multi-channel link. Meaning the more nics you have the faster you can really go. And that is all plug and play.
1Gbps=113MB
10Gbps=1250MB
I'm looking for a happy medium.
for my new nas and transfers between machines.
