I'll have to do some runs when I get the taller IHS for the CPU and join in the fun :) I don't think my chip is quite up to that though.

On a side note: Did anyone in EU order a spare SKL model Bitspower IHS? Their shipping costs from Taiwan are ridiculous!

I gave up as I'm on the 4790K and decided desktop is the life for me. My next goals are setting up an HEDT home server and putting developer boards all over the house as points of access. I think it is a better use of funds at the moment until they figure out the mxm thing and stop bilking on mobile premium so heavily.

My bad, I meant Gears of War. The game we got for free. Not sure why I had diablo on the mind. Have not played that game like since it first came out. Many many many years ago.

You and all the rest of us. :D
Nice to see you guys finally coming around to the higher clocks.

haha i was thinking the same thing when ordering the BP IHS. actually went for the KBL version with regular height, i was worried that the taller SKL version would interfere with proper unified heatsink installation and thus leave the gpu uncovered... in any case, testing still showed a thermal advantage over the intel ihs :)

You and I have been hanging out together here for a long time. Doesn't that just seem like me? I overclock similar to how I play games. I find high ground, make myself comfortable and do the sniper head-shots from a safe location. (Or, if I am in a playful mood, I go in all Rambo on LSD and end up getting killed pretty quick, but I take out a ton of infantry and tear up a lot of stuff when I go ape-sheet.)

I can always lower my expectation and try 5.4GHz if I get no luck with 5.5GHz, but I'd rather aim higher and skip the stuff in the middle to save time.

    That's hilarious.

Yeah, now that could be a real hazard with no proprietary crap to interfere with part swapping. That's something I'd have to be very careful with myself or I'd end up spending a ton of money on frequent part changes... especially GPUs.

Too little discretionary free time for this kind of experimenting right now. Work is crazy busy right now as well.

Yeah, I really like Gears of War, Crysis and COD stuff. It's a real shame that Gears of War 4 was released as a Windows 10 UWP piece of feces. It borderline ruins it for me. I truly despise Windows 10 UWP filth with every fiber of my being... worthless, scum-sucking, sewer rat pee-pee-poo-poo-cah-cah trash that somebody deserves a bullet to the head for inventing. But, yeah... Gears of War 4 is the only reason my ISO was allow to have XBOX and Windows Store left on it. I normally would not allow either of those to exist. I'm so sick of having to enable the Windows Update service just to play this game, then disable the service again when I am done. It's almost not worth it exposing my system to the Micro$loth digital HIV-AIDS virus.

dont expect any miracles, but its definitely there: somewhere around 2-5C. the slightly thicker SKL version should be slightly better in that regard, so like 5-7C.

@Mr. Fox always a pleasure to read your rants using infantile fecal vocabulary :D

so i just stumbled over this article: https://www.computerbase.de/2017-05/cpu-temperatur/

seems like desktop users finally realised that cpu's only start throttling close to 100C and not in the 70s  always laughing at those users panicking and rebuilding their whole setup when they see cpu temps at 70+. reminds me of that time at work when a colleague saw my desktop widgets and was like: omg, 50+C cpu temps at light load, thats waaay too hot!*

*6700k in a friggin laptop at 4.5 ghz

ps: count me out with 5.5ghz+ *lol* now with summer ambient temps and lacking AC this wouldnt do my system any good haha.

That took all of about 3 minutes, but the problem is the 1.375V cap. It needs to be about 1.4V This would allow for validation and benching of heavy benching at 5.3 ghz and light benching at 5.4 ghz And validations of 5.5 ghz and up to maybe 5.6 ghz

woohoo, finally got ddr4-2900 TM5 stable :D now for memtest overnight and then tighten the timings tomorrow...

unfortunately, tREFI doesnt seem to be adjustable in the current beta mod, so im a bit restricted in that regard. i think thats also whats keeping me from getting 3000 mhz tm5 stable.

in any case, i can definitely see and feel the stronger imc on the 7700k. before, on the 6700k, i wasnt even able to boot the xmp1 profile, now i just click it and bam im in windows

have any of you guys noticed increasing instabilities while increasing the dimm voltage? interestingly, im getting better results at 1.3 than 1.35v at 2900 mhz. gonna check and see if that also influences the tightest possible timings with 1.25/1.2V...

Awesome. Glad you are making progress, bro. For 3333 I found 1.40V more stable, but for 3000 and 3200 I do think 1.30V is best.

    well f*ck RS3 and RS2 in particular :D,

still throttles sometimes but card takes 1.063v itself and when Power Limit sets in it goes to 1.05v, so i just tinkered around a little bit and set it for 1940mhz 1v. but i have to see if it's stable for a while

I don't know if I am on the right thread? but anyways...
I am trying to under-volt my stock de-lid Kaby Lake 7700K through the Clevo dash on windows 10 pro on my P870KM1. I have put the "CPU Voltage" to -200mV. I have used only 10 minutes of the Intel extreme tuning CPU stress test and a few runs on unigine valley benchmark and Deus Ex MD gaming . There is no crashes what so ever. My max temps on the under-volt stock 4.5Ghz CPU is 60 degrees. My CPU voltage is 0.985v on idle and at max at 1.100. I have tried -220mV and the system crashes on the unigine valley benchmark, (But passes on Intel stress test) , so I have switched back to -200mV in adaptive mode and the system is running fine. The moral of this message is; Am I under-volting right?? and do I use "adaptive" or "override" setting when changing the mV?
    Best regards,

ok i just did RS1 too and call it a day, i just put a spare thermal pad beneath it just for safety, now i will just play and look if somethings happening in a good or bad way, but so far what i saw i have 6fps more in OW in training area which is quite a bit tbh.
