haha True, its more important for people using 4k panels, since loads on the GPU are much higher.

does anyone have an idea as of how to change / fix this?

This is an ill affect of the stock bios so it can under clock the CPU to save power. I saw the same issue before prema released his bios.

I recommend if you managed to get the Prema BIOS to download the latest drivers and keep them ready then format your machine to totally get rid of that XTU virus as it messes up the fan tables. Uninstalling it only will not help:

That's a good thing did you both purchase from the same place? The stock bios I had acted in the same way as mentioned before.

Does your bios power limit throttle?

    @Prema

I remember when I first got my Sky X9, Eurocom sent me a separate EC Firmware update, from then on, it was just BIOS updates

so my question is, do those BIOS updates also include the latest EC firmware or must one flash the EC firmware separately?

here is a screenshot. also this are the normal values of my cpu on xtu. 42 on 1 core and 40 on the 3 cores and processor core ratio at 41x. is this normal? I set everything back to normal because its really hot now in the Philippines around 36c in the afternoon and maybe thats why core 0 and 3 peaked at 91 and 92 respectively. oh btw really appreciate you helping me out. ;)

Turbo boost Package short and long is too low. At least double the values and test in bench (I understand that it's hot where you are, but these values are too low anyway). CPU core and Cashe is right for stock speed :).
Now I begin to understand why you wanted to start the thread :D, you will be mod and put all the rules, LOL

    Those setting are default.

I would strongly recommend throttlestop made by uclewebb instead of POS xtu.

And that asic is quite low, whats the load voltage?

Actually @Mr. Fox said this rule to use whatever tools available when a forum member was complaining that this thread is not fair because people with a P870DM have the edge as they have better hardware, he then said, buy whatever you wish and use whatever tools, we do it for fun.

you smoked me in every benchmark, at least I can beat you in one :D

@Phoenix You might be interested in this, i changed my IHS thermal paste from CLU to GCE and my temps are way better. This confirmed what i was afraid of - the CPU heatsink isnt making good contact with the CPU IHS.
Since your temps are also high with CLU might wanna give GCE or Kryonaut a shot. I am waiting on my kryonaut tube to come in, but before CLU i had that i on the IHS and the temps were about 4-5 C lower than GCE.

@ssj92 question for you, can you please check what your max power consumption is for your GTX980 at the last stable OC after the FireStrike bench?
    Would really appreciate it.
I managed to stabilize mine @ +273Mhz core but my power draw is going way over 250W.

I have the 330W, so it isn't a big deal since 4.5ghz on the CPU doesn't push the bar that much.

But i remember seeing your benchmarks had a max consumption of about 205-210 W. Which would bring down the thermals a lot.

Feel free to do it whenever you can.

    Give or take 10-15 W .
I have a feeling its because of the 4K display ? But then again, @ssj92 should have similar or more power draw, since he also has the same display.

    sure thing!
strange behaviour..but i suddenly remembered that i already had a similar behaviour with xtu once before on an alienware where suddenly some stock settings were messed up until i reflashed the bios. just un- and reinstalling xtu doesn't do as @Phoenix correctly stated.
now saving money for a silicon lottery cpu ;-)

@Phoenix last night i played the division, and it did it again, went down up to like 3.6ghz on some cores for 1 or 2 seconds each (using riva statistics server to display hwinfo stats while in-game). really funny, as the game doesn't use a hell of a lot cpu resources. and surprisingly if i use something like realbench to really put some stress on the cpu and also gpu it won't happen. but yeah, nothing new as lots of people report this happening i guess :)
will talk to you later bro :D

Test your processor with Wprime 1024M(select 8 threads in advanced settings and run 1024M) Monitor package power+temp with Hwinfo during the test. Post the result and pict of Hwinfo afterwards.

This was awful . The processor runs for only half performance. And the processor is also all too hot compared to the actual performance. Either a poorly executed paste or warped heatsink. If your processor was going on right speed would the processor be unnecessarily warm. Ambient temp?
Increase Package Power short and long to minimum the double and run a new bench. Rather use Hwinfo64 for monitoring http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/hwinfo64-download.html
