Just testing max volt & stable board pull capacity atm...![]()

Thanks @Meaker@Sager
There is nothing wrong with the sensors. Not sure why you would think that as we use this line of testing for every thing we do and all of a sudden out the blue it's wrong?

Some testing to verify if extreme conditions are met..... No Throttling. Will revert to normal condition testing later today.

Here is the start of normal....
Max fans no AC
You are not concerned by the score....Only the fact that prema removed the throttling in the Limit Reasons Box

So, I have a clevo p775tm1-g, anyone know how to reset the bios? Messed with the power and it won't post now. Saw something about fn+d, but that didn't do anything for this model.

Unplug the cmos battery with the main battery and AC disconnected is the sure way of doing it.

Oh fun. Was really hoping not to have to completely disassemble this thing

@Prema FTW. What a Godsend this man is for us all. Life in laptop land would truly suck without his talent, and it already does suck where his contributions do not exist. To call his talent amazing is a gross understatement.almostoast, Ashtrix, Scerate and 4 others like this.

Total teardown is not needed IIRC. -
Seems like I have to get the keyboard out, but can't figure out how. Have all the screws on the underside removed (unless there are some under the GPU. I see tabs on the top side holding it in, but can't seem to wedge it out. Have the upper portion of the chassis half way off, but appears to be something in the middle holding it together.

So keyboard came out with some slight shaking... Now just dealing with the battery connector. I take it it's not a good idea to remove the tape on the battery

No, don't remove the tape on the battery.

Ok. Thanks for the help. Mini crisis solved. Might have to create some CMOS reset switch myself. I got spoiled by all my desktop

If you haven't already tried it:
Try with the power turned off. Hold down FN+D, turn power on and continue holding FN+D. After 30 seconds release FN+D and wait up to 2 minutes for the system reset, reboot and give you the on-screen warning about NVRAM being reset.Johnksss and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -
Now we just need an HEDT CPU with quad channel memory for P870 and we will be set. @Phoenix might even put up with Clevo keyboards that he hates so much if we had that. Don't know how we would keep it cool, though. Over 100K read speed is pretty nice.

Ok, its back to the living.
I tried the FN+D thing, held it down for 3 power cycles, nothing. This BIOS hates me. Nice CB scores. Have you found a way past the 118w limit on the CPU in boost? Seems to be holding me back and power throttling me. -

I don't have money now to buy a mouse, let alone a taptop. I just tried building one on HIDevolution's site with 64GB RAM and Dual 1080 GTX and the cheapest SSD and it costs north of 7500 USD

I either go for the best, or I don't go at all. -
I am seeing more like 180-190W from my 8700K. @Prema BIOS for those that bought their system from a Prema Partner should perform the same, (with some thermal management restrictions using air cooling,) as my desktop 8700K.
In order for FN+D to work consistently, usually have to cold boot. Often does not work during reboot/power cycles.Last edited: Dec 16, 2017Scerate, Johnksss and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -
But, but 8 cores ain't here yet. Start save $$$
And next gen Nvidia on top
I'm sure you will get one.

Yeah, unfortunately I had no idea about Perma partners until after I bought this thing. HID even had the monitor I wanted, no one else offered it. Chips got plenty of head room. Managed to get it locked at 4.7 at -100 offset (was thermally throttling towards the end of the run though). Now its delidded and I cant figure out how to lock the clocks now.ole!!!, Mr. Fox and Donald@Paladin44 like this.

yeah let me start selling my kidneys in preparation for it. Dude no amount of Santa Clause gifts will enable me to afford that laptop. I'm not like I was in the past days. I used to work for the congress. not anymore

what are you power limits set to? did you try without the undervolt to see if it throttles? It probably needs Prema Magic if all those are in check
And how can you miss on HIDevolution, their link is in the OP and they are the first ones to release this laptop the images are all courtesy of them and they're a Prema Partner for a long time nowPapusan, temp00876 and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -
I'm using ThrottleStop to OC as everything else is kinda not working right. Dont see an option to increase the power limit. But the default setting for the max power for turbo is 118w, so thats what it gets to and then it power throttles. Not an expert with throttlestop by any means though, could be missing something.

I have 0 knowledge about ThrottleStop now as I haven't used it in more than a year. I guess wait and see if Mr. Fox has any suggestions for you -

Set PL1 and PL2 (long and short power duration) to the maximum. Maxing it out has no effect on temperatures to the extent it does not power throttle (in other words, it might run cooler due to power limit throttling, but throttling always sucks). I run all of my CPUs with PL1 and PL2 maxed out. It is a maximum limit, not a static value like voltage. The CPU will only drinks as many watts as it is thirsty for. If your CPU ever needs more power than what you have manually set it to (or stock power limits) it is going to throttle due to starvation.Ashtrix, cj_miranda23, Scerate and 3 others like this.
-
Where are you seeing to do that? I'm using Throttle Stop. I did just find the TPL screen which lets me increase my power limit while under turbo, so I'll see if that helps when I'm done with this game.
-
-
Click the TPL button and you will see that Window. Here are the maximum values allowed.

You also have a young family and things that are more important. I was really into drag racing, street rods and motorcycles when I was single and free. I got to spend my money however I wanted to and did not have to take care of anyone else. It's totally worth it having a family, but if you behave the same as before you became a husband and daddy, you'll suck at both of those things. You're being wise to be frugal. Save as much as you can for retirement. It will come like a thief in the night, and after a few blinks you will be Grandpa Phoenix. Saving a little every month now will also amount to a lot more in the end versus starting to save later.
-
Wow. That price makes me want to puke... ludicrous even. I spent like $1800 on my desktop, LOL.
But, you sold your desktop already.
I guess it depends how one defines "best" and "best at what" though. For example, the laptops with the best battery life in the world, thin and extra lightweight for the ease of mobility (or weak wimps) are all totally worthless pieces of trash by my definition of best.

Yeah, I'm just going to have to wait for a better bios. This thing is just all over the place. Even setting static voltage doesnt work (and causes worse throttling for whatever reason). Thanks for the help though guys.

This round Prema is trying to get this out by Christmas...Unless you want me to prolong it and start going back and reloading my factory bios and actually start recording the basic stuff. Then move through the next 20 phases before getting back to the unlocked version? I can do that if you like?
It will be some time next year when it comes out then.

We should all run Windows 7 benchmarks to make all of the people with the castrated Windoze OS X piece of feces feel bad about using a garbage OS. Other than just a few benchmarks (I can count them on one hand, with leftover digits even,) Windows 7 defeats it. Crappiest OS I think I have used since Windows Millenium Edition, and every update to it makes it more of a piece of trash.
Nah, don't do that. You're on a roll right now with some awesome results and Christmas is coming soon.
Plus, everyone that owns one with a stock BIOS can do their own testing if they want to see how much better
@Prema BIOS is.

Noooo...please don't do that...the only thing that really matters is performance of the EVOC High Performance Systems P870TM1 with the Prema BIOS! -
Exactly. Anyone that does not care about performance can save a couple of bucks on a crippled stock Clevo with cancer firmware from a non-Prema partner shop.Ashtrix, Papusan, Scerate and 1 other person like this.

@Prema and all the others. I know this is absolutly the wrong place to ask but i tried like everything to get a bios mod from you.
As on your Mod page is no download for bios anymore i dont know any other way as to ask here for help. I got an P151EMx Schenker laptop. Maybe you can help me. I got really annoying fan problem and cant controll it. Would be really apreciated, thanks for reading.

thanks for the advice but sadly it didn't do anything still stuck at x40 max :/
edit: holy cow i went from 17400 firestrike to barely 16000 with same settings what i had with my personal record, i guess windows 10 strikes again
don't think a newer driver can do THAT sort of a difference

I don't think I've ever seen the Almighty @Prema so fired up before.
Must either be Christmas Spirit, or him REALLY enjoying these new taptops....
About this throttling thing....
Even on the 4 core 7700K...Cinebench throttles at >4.6 ghz on a stock Bios??
Is Clevo stock really THAT BAD??
I feel really bad if someone bought one from a non prema partner in that case. Even jokebooks like MSI's GT series don't throttle THAT bad.
(was able to pull 115W completing cinebench at 4.9 ghz with unsafe temps and voltage).
