What the hell happened? Did they think it was a mini tank and poured water to destroy the electronic item? -
moisture buildup, not sure. when I got home and opened the luggage it's like thatVasudev likes this.

Yeah I'm sure there will be moisture due to temp difference.

Was no silica in the checked in baggage unfortunately...

At least you saw that it was wet. Worse if the moisture could not be seen and you've turned on your lappy upon arrival.Ashtrix likes this.

May need something like this on your next trip. Not sure if they sell it out there though...

Did you disconnect the battery?
There's current flowing through that thing if the battery (not the CMOS battery) is connected. Please don't leave the battery connected if there is moisture.
Also may be a good idea to disconnect the battery during any trip where the laptop is not part of carry-on. Then when you open it to reconnect it and you see moisture, there will be no damage if you let it dry out before connecting (check the screen and polarizer too).
I hope it works... -

Why not just take it on the plane instead of placing it in checked baggage? You're actually extremely fortunate it was still there upon reaching your destination. I have had TONS of stuff stolen from my checked bags over the years. I bought TSA approved locks and even the locks would be stolen, LOL. My employer will actually terminate staff for putting a company laptop in checked baggage instead of taking it as a carry-on item. Toothpaste, toothbrush, clean and dirty socks and underwear, shaving supplies, shirts, pants... totally random stuff. I quit buying the TSA locks because it happened like four or five times.
That should do a good job at keeping clothing dry if condensation is a problem.Last edited: Dec 27, 2017Ashtrix, Papusan, Johnksss and 1 other person like this. -
@Mr. Fox
I'm in agreement. My laptop is never going to be stowed! Ever! LOL
I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but will soon.
A buddy of mine used it on his car after it was flooded a few weeks ago. This was after they used shopvacs to suckup most of the water. Then he used a few containers of the stuff to get the water that could not be gotten to and the smell from the carpet. He said it was damn remarkable how well it worked. It would work on a laptop as well, but it needs to be put into a plastic container so that all it draws from is the laptop. I'm gonna test it on a junk one i have laying around and see what happens. -

Anyone know how to raise the overclocking limits on a 7970M non enduro using UEFI?
Cant find anything in hex that looks like it in registry powerplay table
and
Cant use modded vBIOS tools (as they dont work with UEFI)
1105mhz (+255mhz) which is the slider maxed out (in both afterburner and Radeon Settings overdrive) on the core is nowhere near enough to find the limits of my cooling mod, I have over 30 more degrees and 100mV to play with

Already have two handcarry baggage and unfortunately the KM1 couldn't fit into it. Honestly the first time I've seen condensation happen on one of my checked-ins.
Mr. Fox likes this. -
Perhaps it was not even condensation. Maybe something in another person's bag spilled all over the place. I've had that happen more than a couple of times. In fact, I have a large $600 Briggs & Riley suitcase that was aesthetically ruined by the slop from some careless pig's luggage. It looks like a half gallon of dried snot got spilled on it and will not wash off the canvas. I've had clothes that were soaked in booze from the same kind of carelessness.

Some have said it's possible to buy straight from gskill on unlisted products I think.
-
I went straight to G.Skills
That's the beauty of So Cal. Pretty much everyone is out here.
-
Don't you need to order them from straight from Taiwan? They do say Q1 2018 in the article. They even sell 4600 kits for desktops with a 4800C19 kit on display about 6 months ago.Mr. Fox likes this.
-
I kind of don't deal in articles and internet hoopla. If the source says they don't have it, then that's who i'm going to believe.
Also, I have no clue about 4600 or 4800's at the moment. They are not on my radar as of yet.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Even if they were available now, chances are pretty slim they would work reliably, as 4000, 4133 and 4200 desktop modules frequently do not function using their default rated XMP profile speed on a good many desktop enthusiast motherboards. If you look at verified purchaser reviews, the vast majority of those reporting their experience indicate their desktop refuses to POST using the XMP profile defaults and they had to manually select a clock speed of something less than the advertised speed rating before the machine would even boot far enough for them to access the BIOS.Johnksss likes this.
-
I have had 3600's in my desktop for ever and they never posted and ran smooth at 3600.

Speaking of which, I think I have finally found a reliable XMP-3400 profile that plays nice with my 3200 RAM. I can bump it manually to 3500 with decent results. I cannot seem to get MemTweakit to make real-time changes, so maybe there is an obscure BIOS setting that needs to be changed. I cannot change anything in Windows using MemTweakit without the machine locking up real hard.
-
Looking good on memory.
@Mr. Fox you would need the real time change setting unlocked. (Or equivalent setting name) -
-
-
I have that unlocked already. There is a menu item for something to do with XTU with options numbered 1 through 7 that make no sense and are not explained anywhere. Thought maybe that had something to do with it. There are no memory configuration options in XTU, so I bet those are related. But, Thaiphoon Burner works.

regardless it's coming in the cabin baggage now
will not let this happen againMr. Fox and Falkentyne like this. -
I just did a test run and mine and it still works on an X99 board. Mem Tweakit V2.2.0.1
-
I will check my version and try V2.2.0.1 to see if it makes a difference. It could be that Z370 does not allow real-time memory changes even with that switch enabled.
I hope it turns out to be worth the effort. If not, it has some novelty value. @Phoenix

Windows 10 Pro,
What's different about it? -
was consider buying one then i read reviews people saying not powerful enough, but i trust your word way more. this thing as powerful as the original air can duster?
edit: nvm re-reading it now... 500w.. -
must GET, well heres an older one https://www.tweaktown.com/news/59666/skill-launches-super-fast-64gb-ddr4-dimm-kit/index.html
its for 3200mhz 64gb ddr4 sodimm CL16. both are similar in terms of performance but i dont even know if i can get 3000mhz + working in this laptop with 64gb -
yrekabakery Notebook Virtuoso
This thing is waayyy more powerful than a can of compressed air, and doesn't lose its power and get freezing cold over extended use. I got a DataVac years ago, same as the one in the picture I'm assuming but with a different sticker, and it has more than paid for itself over time. Sadly, seems they have significantly gone up in price.

They can announce as many products as they like, but they don't seem to release them.

Who said that?
Whats an air can duster?
I bought 3 of these things and never looked back. They work for more that just blowing out electronics. -
Not much really. The " for Workstations" part is different. So far, it seems to have nothing of any value that I can use, but it may have some hidden performance potential to be discovered. I am hoping it has less CPU performance cancer and runs more like W7 does instead of ruining physics performance like every cancer OS these imbeciles have released since W8.X forward, but that's probably wishful thinking on my part. Most likely will just be one more gimmick these losers can peddle for extra money, since cash flow is really all that matters to the Redmond Mafia.
What Is Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, and How Is It Different?
-
Humm, i'll give it a test later today if I get time. That actually might work out well for a server based network.
Thanks.
