Barney style please.. im still trying to get a hold of this.. can you elaborate?

-30 on Processor.
Ring max at 42 and -150.
And uncore at -10.
Keep the ring low for now and take it up once the main cores have stabilized. Also my offset might not work the same for your chip.
But worth a shot.
Unlike @Papusan I won't keep them from you and hurt your feelings. -
@Mr. Fox @Papusan @johnksss @GTVEVO
hey guys phoenix logged into my system, and helped me to increase the VR current limits to the max (8191) and increased power limit 1,2,3, & 4 to 300,000.
we also disabled cstates but still the cpu is throttling when i run it off of the battery power. what phoenix realized is i don't have the option to see or change
the turbo power max and turbo short power max settings.
@Prema is there a more updated version of the bios that enables me to do this, because i am trying to avoid using XTU as much as possible.
do you guys think that increasing the turbo power max and short power max would help keep my cpu running at 3.5Ghz even using battery? or is there something else that you would suggest trying.
P.S.
i noticed that with the clevo control center, the Power Conservation cannnot be set to Performance, it is greyed out, not sure if you can see it well in the image but this gives you an idea. On Phoenix's lappy he can select Performance but I can't. What gives?Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Have you tried, uninstalling Clevo Control centre and then going to the power profiles section. Make sure the Processor max is at 100%. -
yep, we checked on both of those. its also a new install of windows, i barely reinstalled around 9PM EST. just to see if that would resolve it.

i can't get throttlestop to run, it says my cpu is not supported. and ya, we tried installing a newer build with the same results. i can understand if i cant hit the full max turbo boost, but whats really killing me is its putting max at 1.6Ghz on batt.
-
-
It works fine over direct power ? -
-
I have never tried to run max clocks of 4.0ghz or above during heavy loads with just the battery. Without my machine and just figuring the power requirements in my head says it won't work. I would assume the EC won't allow it to happen without the AC adapter plugged in. This machine is really not made for battery use, it's just there for portability.
Will anyone's do what he is asking?

Don't make any effort to use the battery. It's not going to work well for anything more that basics like web browsing, office productivity apps and email. Machines like these are designed for performance and things will not go well using the battery. It has always been the case with high performance machines. They do not make batteries stout enough for this. Using battery is for Intel HD Graphics and BGA CPUs turdbooks. It may also be very bad (too stressful) for the battery to try to do anything that requires any muscle.

There is zero chance to run the processor at Base Frequency with Throttlestop(Disable Turbo) due to no functionality with Throttlestop? Maybe take a ride in Throttlrestop guide and talk with @unclewebb about this.
Or maybe try to disable Turbo Boost completely in the bios and see if this can work.Last edited: Apr 22, 2016Mr. Fox likes this. -
EDIT: Oh that's an HQ CPU...not sure then, at least the multis are locked on them...
(Unlike Haswell and before now ONLY Skylake-K models are open).
Intel advertised it so nicely (after just renaming XM/MX to K and killing ANY OC on non-K):
http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/intel-skylake-k-series-unlocked-cpus-coming-to-laptops-too
Anyway, I have sent you a new BIOS...
You may also get better clocks on Battery with CCC uninstalled and system set to performance in Windows power settings.Last edited: Apr 22, 2016CaerCadarn, _deadbydawn_, Spartan@HIDevolution and 2 others like this. -
Off topic:
Now will Acer launched a new AcerBook with Gtx 980 and not Gtx980m. Welcome after. Acer will use fans of metal because of all the heat in the cabinet, HaHa.
One thing Acer have understood compared to other OEM's(I will not name the brand). They increase the thickness of the laptop... All other shrinks the thickness with every new model. This have I been waiting for long time now. That laptops will become thicker again, LOL

But this does not look so promising Fox, in relation to that new graphics card should be launched soon. Why Put GTX980 in new coming laptops now??? Will there be a crippled high end mobile Pascal as they still will use Gtx980?? -

Mobile high-end Pascal is not as close as people want it to be...

Here is my latest overclock. What do you think of the max GPU Temp @Mr. Fox @Papusan is it ok or is that too high?
4.6 GHz for CPU on all cores with a -30 mV undervolt / 4.1 GHz Cache with a -30mV undervolt
GPU Core = +300 MHz / GPU Memory = +400 MHz with a +125 mV over volt
Fire Strike = 14258

Welcome to the 1.5k+ Mhz MAX-WELL club as @Prema so nice saidProcessor temp is still ok, but Gpu is a bit in the higher end now. But still ok and this is quite normal with such high and nice clockspeed on gpu
I don't recommend you to game with this clockspeed on gpu

ok, um i am having an idiot moment, i can't find the option to disable uefi in prema...... you guys know which menu that would be under?

yep, i found it. i was just having a major blonde moment. thanks GTVEVO
-
@Phoenix can you give me the exact settings u got. with pics if possible... I get confused without them
-
ok so i just got off the phone with sager, and ya, the way the notebook is designed it will force underclock to 1.6Ghz on battery, which really kills me especially if i want do do atleast some light gaming. basically it turns a $1400 rig into a glorified netbook.

ya, this is my first actual "gaming laptop", so i will admit i didn't know that going in. either way, for what it is its a nice rig. shoutout to everyone that helped me with my issue, especially @Prema , @Phoenix , and @GTVEVO. thanks for putting up with a noob. lol
