    No-no. Try this.
    -30 on Processor.
Ring max at 42 and -150.
    And uncore at -10.

Keep the ring low for now and take it up once the main cores have stabilized. Also my offset might not work the same for your chip.
    But worth a shot.
Unlike @Papusan I won't keep them from you and hurt your feelings.

    @Mr. Fox @Papusan @johnksss @GTVEVO
hey guys phoenix logged into my system, and helped me to increase the VR current limits to the max (8191) and increased power limit 1,2,3, & 4 to 300,000.
we also disabled cstates but still the cpu is throttling when i run it off of the battery power. what phoenix realized is i don't have the option to see or change
the turbo power max and turbo short power max settings.
@Prema is there a more updated version of the bios that enables me to do this, because i am trying to avoid using XTU as much as possible.

do you guys think that increasing the turbo power max and short power max would help keep my cpu running at 3.5Ghz even using battery? or is there something else that you would suggest trying.

    P.S.
i noticed that with the clevo control center, the Power Conservation cannnot be set to Performance, it is greyed out, not sure if you can see it well in the image but this gives you an idea. On Phoenix's lappy he can select Performance but I can't. What gives? [IMG]

Power profiles messed up. I'm not sure about your laptop, but on battery were you able to see the Performance mode before ?
Have you tried, uninstalling Clevo Control centre and then going to the power profiles section. Make sure the Processor max is at 100%.

yep, we checked on both of those. its also a new install of windows, i barely reinstalled around 9PM EST. just to see if that would resolve it.

When the the processor comes up to a higher Oc, it may be that the voltage must be increased a notch or you still can use stock voltage. Most processors have the intersection at 4.6GHz, so an under voltage can be problematic.
Have you tried Throttlestop + tested an other CC? Maybe the firmware is put like this, because maxs Turbo boost can kill the battery? Aka the battery is to weak for max power in use.

i can't get throttlestop to run, it says my cpu is not supported. and ya, we tried installing a newer build with the same results. i can understand if i cant hit the full max turbo boost, but whats really killing me is its putting max at 1.6Ghz on batt.

Im bummed at this point. Might wanna use Throttlestop as the heartbreaker suggested.

This really sounds like a Max Trubo power limit set low for battery usage.
It works fine over direct power ?

I have never tried to run max clocks of 4.0ghz or above during heavy loads with just the battery. Without my machine and just figuring the power requirements in my head says it won't work. I would assume the EC won't allow it to happen without the AC adapter plugged in. This machine is really not made for battery use, it's just there for portability.

Will anyone's do what he is asking?

Im guessing thats that, out of the 45Wh, take some out for efficiency and then some for other components, and you are not left with much for the processor turbo.

Don't make any effort to use the battery. It's not going to work well for anything more that basics like web browsing, office productivity apps and email. Machines like these are designed for performance and things will not go well using the battery. It has always been the case with high performance machines. They do not make batteries stout enough for this. Using battery is for Intel HD Graphics and BGA CPUs turdbooks. It may also be very bad (too stressful) for the battery to try to do anything that requires any muscle.

The battery is the same wattage as the BGA processor. Quite obvious that there is a blocking there. You cant run a 45w processor with Turbo boost + rest of the hardware with that weak battery. If the processor had run full Turbo boost on battery with that machine, would the battery been killed reasonably fast.
There is zero chance to run the processor at Base Frequency with Throttlestop(Disable Turbo) due to no functionality with Throttlestop? Maybe take a ride in Throttlrestop guide and talk with @unclewebb about this.
Or maybe try to disable Turbo Boost completely in the bios and see if this can work.

Huh? It's all right there in your BIOS CPU section...

EDIT: Oh that's an HQ CPU...not sure then, at least the multis are locked on them...
(Unlike Haswell and before now ONLY Skylake-K models are open).

Intel advertised it so nicely (after just renaming XM/MX to K and killing ANY OC on non-K):

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/intel-skylake-k-series-unlocked-cpus-coming-to-laptops-too

Anyway, I have sent you a new BIOS... ;)
You may also get better clocks on Battery with CCC uninstalled and system set to performance in Windows power settings.

    Off topic:
Now will Acer launched a new AcerBook with Gtx 980 and not Gtx980m. Welcome after. Acer will use fans of metal because of all the heat in the cabinet, HaHa.
One thing Acer have understood compared to other OEM's(I will not name the brand :D). They increase the thickness of the laptop... All other shrinks the thickness with every new model. This have I been waiting for long time now. That laptops will become thicker again, LOL

A big change for Acer. At the same time, such a shame and an absolute waste of engineering brain cells, calories and a nice GPU to deploy something with crippled a BGA turdbook CPU. We are surrounded by garbage-loving imbeciles on every side, LOL.
Intel has really done a good job of convincing the OEM Kool-Aid drinkers to fall in line and kiss their behind with the plethora of BGA filth they are puking onto the public. They (OEMs) should be ashamed for peddling BGA trash with deceptive hype. Seems all they need to do ia tag it with the name "gaming" (doesn't need to have good specs) and post a CGI image on their web sites with some game cartoon flying out of the screen and all the kiddos go wild for it, LOL.

Yeah. But ACER will beat Alienware the second or third time in bench with their new Gaming Books, HaHaaaa
But this does not look so promising Fox, in relation to that new graphics card should be launched soon. Why Put GTX980 in new coming laptops now??? Will there be a crippled high end mobile Pascal as they still will use Gtx980??

Meh... I won't be excited about Pascal until I have a good reason to be. Right now I have no reason to care. Until I know it comes in readily available in MXM form factor, functions correctly under Windows 7, overclocks higher and better than Maxwell and works for upgrading older machines I don't give a baby-sized rip about Pascal. I'm so sick of NVIDIA's retarded approach to doing business... stinking crooks and liars, they are. They need to go back and fix all of the crap they messed up over the past couple of years, whether due to incompetence or by intent, before they'll see an ounce of respect from Mr. Fox. I've had a gut full of their nonsense. I'm expecting Pascal to be a mess and everything that came before it to be ruined by cancer drivers... par for the course with these d-bags.

Here is my latest overclock. What do you think of the max GPU Temp @Mr. Fox @Papusan is it ok or is that too high?

4.6 GHz for CPU on all cores with a -30 mV undervolt / 4.1 GHz Cache with a -30mV undervolt
    GPU Core = +300 MHz / GPU Memory = +400 MHz with a +125 mV over volt

    Fire Strike = 14258

    Fire Strike - GTX 980 (362.00) CPU 4.6 GHz-GPU OC 300-400 [W10].png

I am assuming the system is a BGA processor with a 45w tdp after reading the comments. Just wanted to ensure you clearly understood why you are being limited? There are a few topics going on in this thread so it can get confusing.

    Very nice score and
Welcome to the 1.5k+ Mhz MAX-WELL club as @Prema so nice said :) Processor temp is still ok, but Gpu is a bit in the higher end now. But still ok and this is quite normal with such high and nice clockspeed on gpu :D
I don't recommend you to game with this clockspeed on gpu :p

ok so i just got off the phone with sager, and ya, the way the notebook is designed it will force underclock to 1.6Ghz on battery, which really kills me especially if i want do do atleast some light gaming. basically it turns a $1400 rig into a glorified netbook.
talk about grinding my gears.... :(

there's no high end gaming notebook that is designed to work with stock speed on battery. even doing just surfing the battery on this machine only lasts like an and a half hours felt...so immagine while gaming... probably after all of the intro stuff is over the battery would be dead haha ;-) ^^

Those were minimum numbers. As it, when it boot up, it may go to x8 for a couple seconds. I wouldnt worry about it. I saw it on my system as well and its doesnt mean anything.

As long as at load its x45, its fine.
