I dont have it

It's called HW-P-States on P7.
Also maybe use DDU and re-install the 362 or lower driver from scratch but without the geforce experience stuff...Last edited: May 1, 2016 -

all settings seem stock, follow the below settings but set the CPU multipliers to what you feel is stable, if you are not sure, just set them all to 42 for a 4.2 GHz on all cores settings. the important thing here is we are raising the Turbo Power and Power Limits and Current limits to the max. No harm there, that system will only use what it needs but this way you are ruling out the fact that the system may not have enough juice.

might be an old version of the Prema BIOS
Can you post an image of the first main page where it displays the version of the BIOS and ME Firmware?jpsm likes this. -

@jpsm
This happened before? Sorry, didn't follow whole issue, but video reminded me of same sh** happening on my old bga crap while gaming+torrent download using ethernet connection. Same screen freeze with that sound, only reboot, dunno but it could be something with drivers, still i hope you use latest.jpsm likes this. -
i am using 362.00. i hope its nothing serious too as i dont want to return my laptop because i am in a different country now from where i bought it
-
@bloodhawk @Papusan @Prema @Phoenix @Meaker@Sager so after a 52min game of dota2 no freezes! Thank you very much phoenix for the help!. What conclusions can we draw from this?
because Initially i just copied everything from the video you posted(except for the ram part). But look at those temps after playing a game. 99c peak at core #1!
.
on a side note: this community is amazing! still cant say i regret my purchase so far! Knowing that there are always people here to support/help you is amazing!sparky_boi and Papusan like this. -
Run a Cinebench 11.5 and wprime 1024M stress test. And follow the temperature. Post the results with Hwinfo and the score.
Put up Hwinfo like the image. Easier to show and follow the hardware

@Papusan here it is. hwinfo after doing prime test.

Probably not a good idea to copy the settings over, in most cases the chips are very different, so the same settings will not work for everyone. @Phoenix made those video because he was too horny or something and wanted to spread the knowledge. They are meant to give new comers an idea of what setting does what.Cass-Olé, oveco, Spartan@HIDevolution and 1 other person like this.

The voltages seem a tad bit high still, what offset are you at right now?Last edited: May 1, 2016jpsm likes this.

-70 off set as @Phoenix said/posted. Should i increase it to -140 or something?
-
Voltage is to high for your clockspeed. Try -140 or even-150 and see how it goes.oveco, Spartan@HIDevolution and bloodhawk like this.
-
alright. what can i do to see if its "ok"? run the tests again?
-
Yeah. + light load and also gaming. You need different workloads for finding stability. If your machine is stable in all workflow, maybe go further down on voltage with same clockspeed.jpsm likes this.
-
so here are the temps after running wprime at -150 offset. what is the "ideal" voltage?if there are any.

Ideal voltage is lowest possible
But Skylake is touchy on voltage. I can see throttling in latest test. Probably too low voltage this time. You need to learn to know your processor. Testing, testing and error. Fiddling with the voltage and find what suit your chips. But your temperature is still high.
Edit: My bad. I see now you thermal throttling and not from to low voltage.
1.25-1.26v is enough for about 4.5 Ghz on an average 6700K. Remember voltage change at 5mV can be the difference between success or fiasco.Last edited: May 1, 2016 -
so this is at -120. no throttling and much more cooler temps at idle 43-48

I'm more interested in max temperature
you're still only 3 degrees from throttling. Try to find out how far down you can go on voltage without throttling with different workflow. Not only bench tests
I remembered my Oc on Haswell. Everything worked well in benchmarks, but when i run a fully virus scan I get problems. Then I needed to change a bit.
Edit: what is the temperature in Cinebench?Last edited: May 1, 2016jpsm likes this. -

so increase the -120 to -125? cant wait for my clu to get here. heard great things about it
-
Lowest possible voltage is your goal. And yes. Liquid ultra is amazing. At least if your heatsink fit nicely on the processor.
Edit: @bloodhawk Sorry!!

CLU on the IHS, wont make much of a difference unless the heat sink is perfectly flat and makes perfect contact with the IHS. If you are up to the task, i would suggest de lidding the processor and putting CLU on the die. But that comes with a lot of risks.
My processor can run 4.2Ghz @ offset of -160, this will be different for your processor, but most can do -150 to -125.
Also change the ring offset to -125 or around that. Should help with overall thermals.

that voltage offset is for a 4.4 GHz overclock.
For 4.2 GHz on all cores, -140mV is the sweet spot.
No harm in running -70mV, but why give more voltage when it's not needed, if we do -140mV your temps would go high
keep the turbo power max/power limit 1, 2, 3, 4 PSYS Current limits the same as me though
That way, the only setting you need to change when overclocking is the voltage and multipliers -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
The conclusion is that the stock voltage for Skylake is way too high for its stock clocks of 4 GHz / 4.2 GHz on Turbo. Furthermore, not enough power / turbo power / current by default so that would cause throttling if not changedjpsm likes this. -

Now I understand. They make their own Silicon lottery chips. Why pay higher prizes from the real deal

No they have 2 options:
1) Delidded CPU
2) Silicon Lottery Delidded CPU
So they do their own in-house CPU delidding but that doesn't mean that you get a good overclocking CPU. If one wants to get a guaranteed good overclocker, then it's best to go for the Silicon Lottery Delidded CPUgod1729 likes this. -
They could test out a lot of chips, thereafter choose the best overclockers and then sell it for a price lower than from Silicon lottery but higher than the stock one. Not a big problems because they have access to a lot of them
This is a very good offer for their customers

anyway, you guys( @Phoenix @Prema @Papusan @bloodhawk @Meaker@Sager ) are amazing! only regret i have now is not going for the 870dm. Was hesitant at first because it was more than i was willing to spend on the machine and if gets destroyed i would be crying for days LOL and if something goes wrong ill be alone and have nobody to turn to but seeing how it is around here, i wish i pulled the trigger on that machine. Will definitely try to pay it forward here in the forums the best way i could. God bless you all!
-
You have nothing to regret. P770DM-G is a great socket machine and provides very good performance for less money. And not BGA garbage that you really would regret that you bought... So remember this. Always buy Clevo as long as they support socket hardware. Or go for a desktop rig... Do not support OEM's who destroys everything for enthusiasts with their love for cheap BGA junk.
+ Rep because you wisely chose a socket hardware machine and supported a laptop manufacturer who still want to offer this for performance enthusiasts... God bless you too

Thanks for the kind words. Sorry I am so busy with work right now. Should improve in a couple weeks. I am replying from the cabin of an A321, with another 7 hours to go before I can relax.
You're in good hands with @Phoenix, bro. He does an awesome job of paying it forward with the Community. -

your next machine should be an EVOC from HIDevolution with a Silicon Lottery CPU, 3000 MHz. G.Skill RAM, and a pascal GPU
get a 3 year warranty and you are in safe hands and you got us by your side as well.

Question for the bench leaders with the desktop 980 .. @Papusan @Mr. Fox @ssj92 @Phoenix @Meaker@Sager
Are you guys using the stock thermal pad configuration with the heat sink or have you guys changed them to better ones like I did ? -
