Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
maybe the D900f is going to have about 30% of performance compared to my desktop -
Charles P. Jefferies Lead Moderator Super Moderator
I did some overclocking last night.
Default:
425/1200/850
In the Heaven 2.1 benchmark, that nets 20.9 FPS.
I overclocked to :
Max OC:
471/1330/942
. . . which got 22.9 FPS, or a shade over 10% more. For some reason it didn't get more than an additional 500 points in 3DM06 though.
Now, the way I overclocked it was I kept the ratio between the memory and shader clock the same as the default. I pushed it a bit higher to 482/1360/963 but it crashed within a few seconds. I think if I gun the shader OR the memory I should be able to get higher. The shader clock will probably yield the greatest performance increase.
All of this is at stock voltage. -

that sounds about right the cooling system on clevos seems to be the best ,
can you explain what program you using to overclock the 480 ? -

I am using Nvidia Inspector 1.7 - very simple tool but works well.

Hey guys,
I bought a D900F from Kobalt.co.uk in october last year, after being guaranteed by them - and multiple other sources including other vendors - that it would support an external 30" monitor in its full 2560x1600 resolution. I don't know if it does now but long story short at the time I bought it it didn't, I thus switched to another product fitting my needs and it's since been sitting home unused. It's been used for a grand total of a week.
Below are the specs. Assume I want to sell it within a month or so, what's the easiest way to do so, and how much should I be asking for it?

I bought a few months old xxodd d900f from someone at a good price.
But on closer inspection i found that the fourth fan was missing.
I thought the newer ones came with the fourth fan, so whats the deal here?
Or just mail xxodd about it. -
No, 3 fans is correct, the 4.th fan space is not used.
-
ah
oke thanks
-
Is the screen upgradeable on this unit?
-
Yeah this machine can handle quite a few different screens depending on what your looking for ....
1440x900 1680x1050 1920x1200 ...
My favorite 1920x1200 panel i have owned was the LG TLA2 model... Very bright(close to 300nits) and you can find them for a decent price on occasion ... -
Can I put the RGB LED screen on it since I saw some people selling it on eBay?
-
Honestly im not sure about RGB LED ... It really depends on the connectors and what else the RGB needs vs a standard screen..
-
I have been searching for one for almost a year -_-
Can't stand the glare when working on renders and layouts.
Will this plug right in to my D900F?
LG 17" WUXGA display / screen LP171WU5 TL A2 1920x1200 on eBay.ca (item 150467776533 end time 13-Aug-10 23:06:55 EDT)
Matte screen is preferred! -
That is a very nice screen and the same exact model i bought for my Alienware M17 awhile back based on many recommendations but!! that is a glossy screen so you will have the same glare...
I have a LG TLA3 screen sitting in my closet that is very nice but is not reflective or rather is semi gloss so its got nice colors but very little reflection.... Its got 1 stuck blue pixel in the corner though ... I have been meaning to put it up for sale on the forums for awhile.. It is 1920x1200 as well... -
Will these CPUs work on it?
Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Intel,Processors - Servers,Six-Core,LGA 1366,95W -
This site says it is anti-glare:
LG 17.1 Laptop LED Panel LP171WU5 (TL)(A2) - LG-17.1
So what screen should I be looking for? How many connectors does the D900F have for the LCD? 40 or 30 PIN?Last edited by a moderator: May 5, 2015 -
All the TLA2 versions of the LG model your pointing to were glossy ....
The TLA3 LG is not glossy though but not matte either so if anything its a hybrid ...
The Pin layout i cant remember but i know all the screens were are talking about should work pefectly fine in the D900f ... -
I'm looking to expand the storage capacity of my Sager 9280 - Clevo D900F. If possible, 2x 1TB, no Raid, at least 5400 rpm. It currently has 1 HD (non-SSD) for OS/apps.
I need to store and access HD video files for work, so I need rock-solid reliability. Any recommendations? Thanks! -
didn't realize how huge this thread is...has anybody happen to have the promise 378 non raid driver for vista or 7 or am i chasing a shadow ? thanks for the help

Now that we know more about the 470m I was thinking of upgrading from my 285m. Anyone know if the D900f will be getting a 460/470m bios update? I'm hoping that the x7200 doesn't cannibalize support for us 1920 X 1200 purists.
-
Should work, but in your case I would just wait. The GTX 285M should still perform pretty good and you desktop CPU makes the laptop very future proof. So just get the GTX 485M if it there will be something like this, which would be a GF104 with 334 shaders and 192 bit or 256 bit memory bus OR wait for MR HD 6000 series which probably will still use the MXM 3.0b standard. Of course bios support is always a question but as far as I know there are ways to go around that.

Eurocom has a great CPU list on it´s website:
-
Does anyone know what kind of screws the hard drives take? I need to add some more drives, but there aren't any screws inside.
-
Anyone experiment with Nvidia 3D Vision on their D900F? Mine has 285m on it. Would that be compatible?
-
I think you need a 120Hz display for Nvidia 3D Vision. I don´t know whether the D900F display has 120Hz.
=> 3D Vision Requirements -
Yeah, I saw that list, too. It didn't seem clear whether the mobile version GTX 285m would support 3D Vision, though.
I do know for sure that the laptop does not come with 120Hz display by default. I'm looking to get a monitor specifically for the purpose of trying out 3D gaming. But it would suck if I make the purchase only to find out that the mobile version cannot drive the 3D Vision capable monitor. Hence my inquiry. -
Any idea if this screen will work in the 9280?
Supposedly, it is matte.

Did anyone see the new ORIGIN EON17 Gaming Notebook? Looks simliar to the D900F, but has 24GB RAM as an option:
An Ungodly 24 GB of RAM in One Desktop-Whipping Notebook
ORIGIN EON 17 Custom Gaming Laptop Product Details and Features
Build option: 24GB Triple-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 3 X 8GB - Extended lead time [+$2,861.00]
Pretty pricey, but I'm super excited that 24GB kits are starting to come out! -
-
didn't know you could have up to 24GB ram on X7200 M58 chipset.
but unless I'm software/designer/photoholic* (heavy image Renders.. My way of saying it) 12GB's overkilled most gaming and normal tasks.
But I'm not gonna complain when we could have more when needed.(the more the merrier)
-
Although, having the 1920x1200 resolution is nicer for CAD & Video than the 1920x1080...fit more menus on the screen...
I'd love to have 24GB...$2800 is a bit excessive though. $1000 maybe ($600 would be nice!), but $2800 is a second D900F lol. Plus, with an SSD, having stuff go to virtual memory is actually pretty quick. 12GB is just too easy to max out with Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Color, etc. open and swapping files.
Do any online shops sell that ODD to HDD bay adapter to add a 4th hard drive? I haven't been able to find it online. It'd be nice to put more storage in...as much as I love SSD's, I think I'll go back to the 640's to gain more space. Or 750's now, I guess. When are they going to make 9.5mm 1TB's anyway -

Nah, way to complicated and totally unnecessary with the Sager NP9285 (D900F). Just go to NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks and buy the caddy. Then the installation is much easier.

They aren't really model specific. If you need help, call them.

What kind of remote control can be used with a d900f.
Would something like a harmony one work. -
Now i have a GTX 460M in my D900F, but i can´t install a driver. Any ideas?

-
just take the desktop driver and take any of of the already inputed gtx460 drivers and change the last 4 characters to match your device string. then install away.
-
You are my hero
...now the GTX 460M works in D900F
-
lets us know what kinds of numbers it pulls in there. thanks!
-
Next problem
The card clocks only between 202/404/162MHz and 50/100/67MHz.
In 3D the 460M don´t clock up to 675/1350/625MHz
