Heads up: I opened my 9280 and the left hinge burst. I am very gentle...but. I found another case in this forum and another in a different one. I do open and close my case all the time as I move about.

Sager said the warranty does not cover The Case. I have had many problems with other computers, Sager has been the best. There is obviously a weakness here.

About to pull the trigger on a 480m upgrade kit. Sure would love to go the 485m route instead, but so far no success stories as far as I know. :(

Where are you going for the upgrade kit?

From what I understand it requires a bit of modding, do you know exactly what we need to change?

Is there that much of a difference between the two? If the reviews are accurate it should only be a few FPS tops.

EDIT: I contacted Xotic, they said the 485 will NOT fit in the 9280, so its just not going to happen.

Has anyone had issues with horizontal screen tearing due to LCD angle? If my LCD is between straight-up 90-degrees and a couple inches back, every once in awhile I get some crazy horizontal line tearing on my screen. If I play with the angle (tilt in or tilt out more) it goes away. Maybe a pinched wire?

Well no since holding off then, thanks for that.

I was thinking of selling and moving to the X7200, but I dont want the 1080 screen nor do I need SLI. So I think I'll be better off with the 480m for my uses anyway.

OT, but I have the modded BIOS with advanced chipset and cpu features. AFAIK, it does not permit manual FSB adjustments.

what about the 6970m does the d900f support it? or has no one tried, what is the issue with the 485m not being supported by this laptop, the power adapter is adequate enough yes?

so there's no way to overclock any cpu except a EE edition, via bumping up multis in bios, no software like eleet can allow to overclock standard i7's? any beta bios

i found this "Clevo D900F BIOS D90F0904 MOD"

anybody got any updates or info, i hear the x7200 has bios mod to allow overclocking, i think of non ee models.

No there really isnt any provisions to overclock the non elite processors in the D900F at the bios or software levels. Even the Extreme processor arent able to yield stable results beyond the 3.6GHZ range. I have the modded bios FWIW.

i don't see how thats not reasonable, 3.6ghz and up requires voltage increase on a x58 chipset, whats the modded bios FWIW? you' have to be more spefiic

I want to sell my D900F. If anyone interested, pm me. Besides regular spec, you'll also get the GTX480M, 12GB sodimm at 1333MHz, 1920x1200, bluray burner. Currently, I have 980x and HDD in it, but I intend to keep them. I'm looking at $1600 for this without the 980x and hdd. I'll throw in Vista Ultimate OEM and 500GB Western Digital hdd too if I can sell this before Monday morning.

Hello D900F users. Any successful installation of 6970? What GPU does Bios support so far? Iam planning to purchase the D900F. What do users think of the 1920x1200 quality?

    Hello all,

I've noticed the battery life on my 9280 rapidly declining, but didn't realize how much so until this morning. While, by necessity, I always plug it in, I've occasionally (every month or two) run it on the battery to kind of cycle it. At best I could get about 1 hour out of the battery, which has been the norm since the beginning and about what everybody has reported.

However, after I booted up this morning I decided to watch the rate that the battery dropped to see how it was holding up (I've owned this basically since this model came out 2 years ago.) It took about 10 minutes to get to 74%--but then something strange happened. After I'd read that reading of 74%, within about 15 seconds of me reading that value, it immediately jumped to 7% and started warning me of a dead battery.

Has anybody else noticed something like this? Is there a remedy? Obviously buying a new battery is a fix, but short of that is there any procedure you guys could recommend that would fix this?

Will the bios update work for a Sager 9285? I think it's basically the same thing as far as I can tell. It's like D900f v.2

Edit: The motherboard is exactly the same down to the revision number. I went ahead with the flash and had no problems whatsoever. Thanks Kizwan.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I liked having the unlocked bios but I don't think there is any real setting in there that is really worth playing with. You still don't have any CPU or Memory clocking functions and all of the other settings are things that shouldn't be played with in the first place. Has anyone else found anything in this bios that is worth tweaking in the interest of performance? If not, I might try flashing back to my Sager bios if that even works. It might give a checksum error. Oh well... Feedback anyone?

Edit: Oh, I have the 980x so if there was going to be an overclocking element then it would show up for the extreme edition.

Woops, I didn't mean to make another post. Can this be removed?

Alright, i have a D900F and im trying to get some speed out of my 280m....

Whenever I overclock in the nVcontrol panel games stutter like crazy, even for small overclocks.

Am I doing something wrong here? I'm trying to get a few more fps out of my laptop for BF3

Did you get the new beta drivers from Nvidia? Or do you still have the stock driver?

Also, try MSI Afterburner too, that's what we use in-house and it works pretty well.

Hi guys, im a D900 owner since like 1,5 years or 2 years. Today i had problems for thr first time. The system won't start up. I hear the fans and the LEDs under the Display are suggesting that the system started up normally.
Display doens't show anything though. At first i thought, that the display is broke, but if it would be i think a press on the Num Lock button would have an Effect on the Num logo.

What could be the Problem? Where can i look next? I hope i can find help in here, i planned to keep the D900 for at least another 2 Years.

The inly things i changed till today are : i updatet the RAM to 12 GB 2 or 3 weeks ago and i installed a seagate momentus xt...

Hook up an external monitor if you can and see if anything posts to that screen. If the external screen doesn't show anything, it means the GPU may be going bad. You'll also want to try reseating the RAM, or maybe removing all but one stick to see if it has bad RAM. Last but not least if you do get picture on the external screen it might mean the display has gone bad or needs reseating as well.

Thx for the answer. Hooked up another screen which unfortunazely didn't show anything. Changed the RAM to the old ones, didn't help though.
If i push "fn" and "1" the fans switch to fast, but nothing else works. No reaction from anything. Still any ideas of what could be wrong?

Oh! It just hit me. You can try two more things. First, remove both the battery and the AC adapter and press the power button down for about 15 seconds. This does a power drain which has helped for some in the past. Also, you can try reseating the CMOS battery if you wish, sometimes that can help as well.

    Disassembly guide here: D900F_ESM.zip

I will try reseating de CMOS battery this afternoon ( i live in Germany )

My guess is, like you said before, that the GPU is gone bad....

Looks like I just needed to overvolt a little.

Running 675 core 1550 shader 1150 ram currently, not much of an improvement, but with any luck it will hold me until I can afford my next order from Xotic!

I just wish a replacement MXM video card didnt cost nearly as much as a brand new laptop :|

You'd probably have the best luck getting one used. I'd check the NBR marketplace first:

    NBR Marketplace

You can always post there looking for one. Other members have had luck from other online sellers as well.

Does this seem low, or about right? I'm overvolted to 1.03
