To bad that is an UK site. But those pads look awesome.
Do you know blacky an american reseller?
-
I am pretty sure those are some of the best thermal pads on the market but I am afraid I do not know where you could buy them in US. But you can always try to Google for them, try and look on US websites dedicated to watercooling they tend to have the best when it comes to thermal interface products.

From my side, sager just replaced the gpu, but the overheating issue continue to appear. They said that in the test, the computer shut down and if I am right, the sys shuts down when the GPU reaches above 105C because of failsafe temp, doesn't it? What else can be the cause for this problem?
-
ask them to replace the motherboard. that way new gpu and new motherboard will discard all abnormally heating sources

I just got it back and am happy for the first time with this notebook. The whole barebone(including monitor) and gpu were changed and now I get 80C in-game. Thank you for your support!
@jupapri good luck with you.... -
i´m happy for you. mine is going to be returned on monday. they change everything except monitor and cpu. the journey of my laptop is longer because i live in colombia.
enjoy your machine, it´s very capable. i can tell you that you can have better temps because the thermal paste that sager applies is too much and low quality. -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
All the peripherals are working just fine. Sager really puts a lot of thermal paste on gpu. I'm also lucky because my prev screen had 2 dead pixels and some more than normal blue pxls and this one has none. With a 81C max, I think I can overclock it a little bit to max it out, can't I?
-
is overvolting what increase a lot your temps. try to overclock to the gtx 260m level (550-1375-800) and see if everything is stable.

-
post a screenshot of your temps. also have you tried a furmark test? did you overvolt your card to achieve those clocks?
are you still with stock giant bubble of sager paste? -

On Furmark with custom clocks I get 87-88C. Very stable on 610/900/1485

Gents, I've seen a lot of info regarding keyboard issues and now have the honor of joining that club as well (5796). It started when I lost the plus, minus and delete keys. Now that's migrated to losing Fn-F11, which as you know, controls my wireless. I pulled off the keyboard and gave it a good cleaning (I didn't pull off the keys, just dusted the frame and underbody of the keyboard. On reboot, my wireless light initially showed as active (i.e. "on"), but went out a second or two later. All diagnostics show that this is a power switch off issue. I haven't been able to figure out how to turn my power back on without use of the onboard keyboard (tried the virtual keyboard, usb keyboard, searching through my 5300 options, etc).
I'm fairly convinced that this is a keyboard problem and suspect it has something to do with that section of keys being located right over the fan. No liquids spilled. Can anyone offer any help? I'm overseas so replacing it is not a fast option, but may be a necessity. I also have not upgraded my firmware (keyboard/bios) out of fear that I'd cause more problems (non-sanctioned bios, etc). We've got some real gurus on here, so appreciate any help/advice you may be able to offer. Many thanks. -
not sure if its related, but the wireless forced off condition coincided with the installation of America's Army, which I tried a few years ago, but had to uninstall because it caused my system to crash.
-
is there any way of turning on my wireless without using the keyboard???? HELP!
-
I am sorry bzane but I haven't seen anyone with your problem. You should also know that a new keyboard is rather cheap.
-
Blacky - many thanks for the reply. I did what I could for a workaround - to no avail. (external usb keyboard; microsoft virtual keyboard, etc).
I have a new one en-route from Xoticpc. $75 plus $13 for shipping. Once it hits Florida, then I have to ship to Jamaica and fork out another 25% for customs. Grrrr.
For what its worth, I've noticed that most of my key failures are occurring in the vicinity of the fans. My impression is that it should be sucking cool air from that location, so I'm not sure what the correlation is, but thought it worth sharing the observation. Could dust be shorting out the circuits? I do my best to keep it clean, but even with the keys off, the circuit board appears to be covered by a plastic laminate. -
You never know, just install the new keyboard and see.
-
just a small update. my laptop just arrived from US. i´ll be loading windows and drivers once i arrive from work. lets see if i´m lucky this time.

I got mine back with no luck. They are trying to cover the damage on the gpu, telling me that it doesn't support directx 10, while it freezes with dx9 too! I can't do anything else. I' ll just try to sell it on a good price and buy a 8760. Good luck jupapri!
-
ok. first impresions. sager sent me back the notebook with a loose hard drive. there are 4 screws missing.
very messy and dirty but my max gpu temp with stock paste in occt was 89C wich is impresive for me. i'll repaste it and then will post screenshots -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
I throwed atitools in my system and it appeared no errors. Also tried to install win vista, but nothing happened.
-
ok. i've got beautiful scratches thanks to sager. the bluetooth module was unplugged. the hard drive has 4 screws missing.
the gpu temps were:
89C stock paste in occt during 20 minutes test
85C with mx3 on gpu
82C with soviet sunrise underclocked and undervolted vbios @0,95V (0,90v was unstable in desktop)
i've bought some bergquist thermal pads, and some copper. i'll do some cooling overhaul and then i'll be posting the results -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
These smell like perfect temps for gaming. And in my opinion, using bergquist thermal pads is the best combination with this computer. Can you give a link?
-
Jupapri, always try to mention room temperature when you quote temps, it helps a lot when comparing them.
-
right blacky. my bad.
room temp was 20C on top on nzxt cryo. (humidity i think plays a good role in temps. south america is very humid, 80% i think is where i'm located)
before sending back, occt could reach more than 97C in the same conditions -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
This thermal pad and material are really cool and it should drop temperature up to 5-7C
-
Actually those thermal pads are not very good, but as Soviet explained in his posts, they are very resistant to tear and you can take apart your GPU several without damaging them.
Good thermal pads should have the W/m-K above 3. -
it should drop the temps in a good margin, the stock thermal pads are garbage. just wait. i'll post the results.

Got another question. Does the M570TU take 1333MHz RAM? Look at my sig for specs.
-
It does take 1333Mhz RAM but it will automatically downclock them to 1066Mhz. I am using 1333 Mhz HyperX memories and they work at 1066 Mhz.
-
I'm sure this has been discussed a lot, but I'm not hitting it with search. I have an NP5796. Is there a guide somewhere of what needs to be done before upgrading to Windows 7? Thank you.
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
If I understood what you mean, here is windows upgrade advisor if you want to upgrade from vista to 7 Download details: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. If you want a clean installation of win7, you just need the neccesary drivers for Windows 7. You can find them in Software Upgrade. The drivers for np5796 and 5797 are identical.
-
Oh, ok. Awesome. I thought I some point I had seen people talking about having to do a BIOS upgrade. Hmm, and the link you gave was for 5797 software. Sager's 5796 page doesn't have Windows 7 drivers. Maybe these would be ok though, since the systems are so similar.
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
No need. Everything will be OK without a BIOS update. My np5797 works fine with win 7.
-
Well, I guess I can email Sager and ask if (at least some of) the np5797 drivers are ok for my np5796.
...and the word from Sager:
"This Model do not have Windows 7 driver provided by the Manufacturer, it would be better to stay with Windows XP or Windows Vista."
That kinda sucks. I know people have done it, but I guess it means it won't just be a simple install-and-done process. -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
you can also find the drivers you want from other sites for your diferrent devices. Try NP5797 DRIVERS if you have already purchased it and try googling if you haven't yet purchased them.
-
I upgraded to Win7 Pro and used the Vista drivers that came with my laptop originally. Was simple.
If I remember correctly, I think I did the Realtec audio and something with the Infared.
These drivers might even be in your C drive and you can pop them over to a thumb drive before you install Win7. -
just a litle update of improving. thanks Soviet, the credit is for you

tell us your current gpu temp when you start to play or stress test.
@samhandwich
yea i' ve tried with the vista drivers and worked fine. the only devices you will have problem audio. But try to run all installations with vista compatibility. -
guys, i have screen 1920x1200 and I am not satisfied with brightness. Is there a way to improve it??
-
You probably have the AUO screen (I have it as well). You can try to replace it with an LG screen which is brighter but has less contrast.
-
Big probability I have LG. when I compare my screen with my sony vaio 13.3''
At least Sony is brighter 50%. After Sony, it is hard to see even at m570 -
how do u guys get the hdmi to work is it plug and play or do u need special drivers?

I have a problem with my M570TU. It began freezing randomly when I started using external sound card(USB stick to plug your headphones into). It seems to be a temperature issue but not with CPU. I have 280m so I guess that would be the cause. Anyone have any advice how to fix this? If unplug the USB sound card, the freezing no longer occurs but I need audio so that's not solution.
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
Firstly, you can run HWMonitor or GPU-Z to track your GPU temp when on different states (gaming, video editing etc.). Secondly, why do you use an external sound adapter, although your computer has one included and works fine with headphones, too?! Last but not least, you've already said that unless the external sound card is plugged to the computer, the computer doesn't freeze. Try install the newest drivers, if any.
-
The original audio jack is so loose that it's practically useless. You can't plug anything in it anymore. I will try to monitor the temperatures some more, although I have tried it earlier and couldn't pinpoint the problem. What drivers do you suggest I should update?
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
All of them as long as you can. Did this problem exist when you had just bought the card?
-
Freezing started soon after I began using the external sound card. Never before had I any problems.
