That is true, selling it as parts will get you more money, but on the other hand, you will be spending more time with shipping, handling and also it will cost you extra for each part. I can't evaluate right now, but I know the CPU will sell for around 200 pounds, the screen probably around for 75-100 euro, the GPU for around 150 pounds maybe 200 if you are lucky. The ram for 50 euro, blu-ray 50 euro, momentus for around 50 euro as well, the mobo most likely for around 100 euro (but few people want to buy this nowadays, so it will be more like 75 euro I think).

    250 euro (cpu) + 87 (screen) + 200 (gpu) + 50 (ram) + 50 (blu-ray) + 50 (momentus) + 90 (mobo) = aprox. 775 euro - 10% (shipping and handling) = aprox. 700 euro

    Hi Luis!

That sounds great! I wrote them an email, and they look serious.
In the worst case I'll loose 50€, not such a big deal.
If it doesn't work, I guess I'll buy a new PC instead of buying a new graphic card which is more expensive than my kidney.
Thanks for the help! I'll let you know how I figure all this out.

Their ebay feedback looks great. That was the main reason to go with them :)

Blacky, i would go the extra mile to sell the parts. Nevertheless, i love my laptop :) i just wish it could be more.... transportable? :D

Hello. I have a an np5796 with nvidia 9800m-gtx, and I'm pretty sure the video card just pooped the town. The driver has been crashing and sometimes recovering for 2-3 weeks, then today started getting crazy colors and patterns on the screen, updated the driver with no change, and now the screen doesn't even come on and I don't think the computer finishes booting.

Aaanyway, suggestions for where to get a replacement video card? Either the same one or something compatible? Thanks!

    ----

Ok, reading back a bit I see I'm not the only one with this issue. Fabulous. Also, sounds like fx2700m from niffcreature is my best low-cost option? Does it have reasonably decent performance? I'm not really gaming, so it doesn't have to be great. Any other suggestions for cheap?

    Check out this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/655636-np9262-video-problem.html

You don't seem to be the first one that had that problem as of late. You can try baking the 9800 if you're out of other options. Worst case scenario is that you still need a new card.

I can't freakin believe that actually worked. I'd assume I should still have a replacement on hand, but...wow.

    Thanks Anthony!

Excellent! It's only a temporary solution though, as it's hard on the graphics card. But at least you have a working one again to hold you over until you can get a replacement.

It sounds like a crazy fix, but I've seen a lot of people have success with it in the past.

Quick thought. Is the M570RU 8700M GT GPU compatible with M570TU? As I have a functioning M570RU together with a M570TU. Gonna part out the M570RU this summer and thinking if I should keep the 8700M GT for spares...

Just to say I received my 9800GTX from computer-systems.gr, which proposes to repair graphic cards for 50€.
I tried their service using this ebay link. I am by no means affiliated to them, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway, since I had nothing to lose.

Well I'm very happy with the result! My card came back within 5 weeks (yes, you have to be patient), but it works great and the repair is guaranteed 3 months. I hope it will last for a long time.
Just for the record, if you have baked your card in the oven, they cannot repair it anymore.

    Hope this can help!

hoedus, same results here for me :)

I am very happy with their results and they even replaced a memory chip (i supplied the part) for me for free.

Very nice guys over there and also, very competent.
Certainly an added value to Europeans with problems with their cards.

I haven't done anything with the card, mostly cause I'm way too busy, but a fellow Greek repairing video card sounds good. Only problem is I'm in the US. Shipping would be a killer.

I believe you can find a similar service in the US. Nevertheless, you only pay shipping one way :) and it shouldn't cost that much (20 bucks maybe).

Remember that you're also getting 3 months of warranty on the card.

Spent the day trying to map FN+F12 Bluetooth key with AutoHotkey and create a script that would toggle Bluetooth ON whenever the PC is woken up/powered up.

Sadly got stuck at the most important part: the FN key on M570TU does not generate a code when it is being pressed (at least AutoHotkeyRemoteControlDLL.ahk script did not detect anything).

Anyone want to try out the AutoHotkey "Mystery of the FN key" tutorial and see how far they can go? Maybe could not get the FN+F12 value, because I am running 64 bit W7...

So my 9800M GTX went up in smoke today (Black Screen and purple artefacts after uploading some photos to Facebook). I have ripped the 8700M GT from my M570RU and it does work, but Windows 7 64-bit does not recognise it as a Nvidia GPU and installs Standard Graphics driver. For some reason Nvidia drivers find the hardware incompatible... Any ideas how could I make 8700M GT fully work on M570TU W7 64-bit?

Heard about some eBay Greek fellows that repair GPUs anyone had any luck with them?

IT's easy actually. But, you need to edit your driver to add your device subsystem.

    Hi guys,

I can vouch (for what is worth) for the greek guys (find their info 1 or 2 pages back). My card is like new and they warrant the card for 3 months after the repair.

As for the driver, somebody else as already moded the inf. Check LaptopVideo2Go: NVIDIA & Laptop News ;)

luisqcosta, thanks for the advice, everything seems to be working fine now. Probably 3 days of Distributed Calculations killed the previous GPU. Looking for a backup in-case 8700M GT decides to visit its counterpart. I think time has come to get some backup ATI HD 4570

    Hi
Also owner of a Clevo M570TU, but a UK "Rock Computers" laptop.
I am having real difficulties getting my USB 3.0 Express Card to work as a USB 3.0 port on my laptop.
I have tried 4 different USB 3.0 cables, checked all my laptop's drivers (including the one for the Express Card itself) and the Express Card is powered by the power adaptor supplied by the Express Card manufacturer.
Whenever I connect a USB 3.0 device to the Express Card it is immediately recognised but I get the message "This USB mass storage device can transfer data faster if connected to a super-speed USB 3.0 port".
My last remaining thought is as to whether the laptop's BIOS could be the problem? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1, and the BIOS was recently updated to version 1.0.17. I have seen reference to a version 1.0.19 - and indeed I have downloaded it onto a bootable flash drive, but I am nervous of trying the update to that version (including the "EC" update that is also included) in case it bricks my laptop.
I contacted the laptop supplier and they had no updates of the BIOS from the original (2008) version 1.0.06 so were of no help whatsoever.
    Help please

Hey, my BD DVD drive isn't reading or writing discs most of the time, so I need a new one. I'd much prefer the "Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti 8x8x4x2.4x +/- DVD R/RW - 24x10x24 CD R/RW Drive w/Softwares" that most M570TUs come with, but I do not know the model number of that optical drive. Can anyone help me out here?

I want a drive that can read just about anything (I don't care about Blu-Ray). Right now, my MATSHI*TA BD-CMB UJ130AS from Panasonic is capable of reading all but DVD-R DL, but it takes many tries just to get the disc spinning (the laser goes back and forth a lot) If nobody knows that model number, a list of compatible devices would be great, though I prefer to just have the model number of the one I was asking about (unless it's Panasonic, as they never work right). This can be seen in your Device Manager.

You can use any as long as its a SATA connection and 12.7mm. You then take the bezel off your existing drive and put it on the new one.
Double check to make sure its a SATA connection on that drive though. You should be able to easily identify it by taking it out and looking at the connection type.

OK, but can you suggest any? I'm not sure what brand and model would fit my needs here.

Like if I were to get an LG, what would be a good model to go for?

    BTW,
From what I understand, if it is MXM 2.1 type III (check the connector pattern), it should work

EDIT: Does the CT10N look good?

    Hi everyone!

I've been trying to install 2 sticks of 4gb of ram (CM3X8GSDkit1066) on my M570TU and the BIOS doesn't even get to post, the screen just stays black.
I currently have 2x2gb, I tried an old 2gb and a new 4gb at the same time and had the same result (even tried the 4gb on each slot and all those combinations...)

I know my reseller (which I can't contact now) had them with 6 and 8 gb at the time I bought mine, so I know it's possible to do this upgrade. My motherboard revision is V3.B2-1, CPU Q9100 and NVidia GTX 260m.

    Any suggestions?

I have read about the bios updates in iso format hidden in the boot sector, this would work for me to update my m570tu, but cannot find a download for it. Eurocom has not responded to my requests for the bios updates. I need a update that autoruns right from powerup.

Hi, I bought the Sager 5796 (Clevo M570TU) from xoticpc back in 2008 and through use the right corner right near the hinge has become damaged... I don't think the actual hinge is broken, its more a case of the plastic chassis / shell cracking. I am wanting to get this repaired as I am no longer able to use the laptop as it is intended(it sits with an external monitor attached like a desktop), I can't open and close the laptop without the hinge busting out of the laptop's enclosure. I took some pictures of the damage and attached them. I dont know what to do.

Any information/ideas as to how to go about getting this fixed or fixing myself would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not much you can do except get replacement parts. On our site under "contact" you can open up a RMA request. You can at least do that much to see what it would cost to do so and arent obligated to do it.

Mine also started to develop cracks around the hinges about an year or so ago, maybe more. I poured super-glue in and over the small cracks (mind you, they were just forming) and the cracking has stopped.

I JUST BOUGHT A CLEVO 570tu LAPTOP with 9800GT in it. I think the video card died. I get question mark on device manager 9800GT - Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). I wonder if anyone can give me any advice. thx

reinstall driver, remove and reset the card ... there are many things to do before declaring the card dead.
