Is it the 1680x1050 glare or non-glare? And where did you buy it from? :)

guys, let's make a new thread and later on it can be a part of FAQ.

for me personally the quality of the screen is the only thing that does not allow me to say: Sager is the best laptop money can buy.

may be u remember the story with Samsung screen 226BT, when they had a shortage of their own screens and they started to put it from AUO and Chi Mei with way worse specs. at that time my friend got original Samsung screen and he's happy till now.

ideally it will be nice to get part# and then find it's full specs in order to avoid purchase of quiet expensive toy blindly.

    here's another interesting link:
    http://www.screentekinc.com/Sager_NP8660--15.4-inch--1920x1200-wuxga-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml
for me it's another evidence that there variety of screens for 8662.

Is anyone currently using the HDMI output on this model with a 22-24" LCD? Does it look OK? Just curious.

I use HDMI out with my system (using DVI-HDMI adapter... same signal).

its a digital signal, so it should look fine on an external digital display.

Outputting to a 22" Samsung LCD for normal use. Although this is with DVI, as Gophn said, it's the same signal. Looks gorgeous.

Outputting to a 40" Sony XBR4 LCDTV for watching movies. This is with HDMI, and also looks amazing.

I fired up TF2 today and played for an hour or so then took a break. I came back after about half an hour and fired up TF2 again but there were some weird white spots all over the top of the screen. They weren't huge, but kinda like a fuzz. There were also artifact looking things that came up every now and then. They were huge black shapes popping up everywhere and the in-game steam friends list was all jaggy-looking. I'll try to get a screen shot but for now: Is my graphics card pooping out on me? My clocks are all stock BTW.

I rebooted twice last night and it didn't change anything. I started the thing up again to day and it was alright for a few hours but I got some minor artifacts in-game. Nowhere near as bad as what I got last night but black tears across the screen came up every now and then.

I forgot to mention that the ATITool wouldn't even work last night because of all the artifacts; tonight, however, it works fine so I guess I'll save my worrying for some other day.

Hmm, well if it happens again, I think it may be time for an RMA. If you're lucky, maybe they'll be out of 9800 GT and you'll get a free GTX260M.

Im just wondering. Max multiplier are 10 on the M860, why cant we use more than 9.5? And why doesnt RMclock recognise the 10?

Depends on what processor you have. P8400, P8700, T9400, P9500, T9900, and X9100 have half multipliers, and RMClock can't read them correctly without an update for newer chips.

On the other hand, my T9800 has full multipliers, so it is read correctly up to it's max multiplier of 11x.

Oh, snap, I have the P9500. Everest says max multiplier are 10 (it peaks at 10 on CPUID too sometimes) but it uses 9.5 as standard. There should be a way to use the last half multiplier. That way we wouldnt lose 130 mhz using RMclock, but gain 130 mhz.

Yah I was thinking of that :p. It might be a long shot though, people might still have small stocks of at 9800M GT's, and they would definitely have the 9800M GTS (GTX160M).

But they cannot replace a 9800GT with a GTS without your permission as it is an inferior card (and you would have to at least get a rebate)

i wasnt sure where to post this question but im about to order a NP8662. I needed some help on which processor to choose.
    45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9800/ 6MB L2 Cache, 2.93GHz, 1066MHz FSB ($360)
    OR
    45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q9000 / 6MB L2 Cache, 2.0GHz, 1066MHz FSB ($170)
I assumed the quad processor would be faster but why is the half the price of the dual processor? Which one is actually the better performer?

I asked this same question myself some time ago too.

XoticPC. Had US funds bought when 1USD<1CAD.
You can read my review and my shipping guide for some infos about the import process.
There's also Eurocom and Pro-Star where you can a Clevo or Sager.

    Thank you SO much!

your guide was just what i needed.
So im assuming that sagers are made in the US so i don't have to pay duty?
So if i buy a 1527$ sager 8662 laptop from xoticpc it would be 1812.85$ Canadian since the exchange rate is .84 at the moment. And then i would be charged 5% gst and 7% pst which i think would make the end cost be around 2030$ Canadian which isn't too expensive.

I looked at eurocom and the total came to 2414$ Canadian and it didn't even have the option for the GTX 260m graphics card(All the other specs were the same though) which is way over priced and im not buying the laptop if i cant get the gtx 260m

I also looked at pro-star but it looked pretty much the same as xoticpc but costed a tiny bit more.

    Is anyone tried Np8662 + qx9300 + win 7 x64 + Rmclock?

I'm kinda even not able to make it work proper. Rmclock starting, but it's not memorizing any changes and never closing. Always sitting in the tray. Only "kill the process from task manager" helps.

I'm using CPUGenie 1.1 x64 as an alternative right now, but dunno, something wrong with this tool for sure. I mean I'm already undervolted it to 0.712V and it's working as none-problemo-senioro... Let's be honest -- miracles over the board.

    0.712V??

My lowest V is 0.9 and that is 1.66ghz. Rmclock doesnt allow me to set it lower.

H-Emmanuel has a QX9300 and a GTX 280M in his ETU. PM him for help. He also have a thread in the hardware components and aftermarket upgrades forum reagarding his comp.

^I'll be interested in comparing temps with you.

I have a barebone M860ETU sitting in front of me, but I'm too tired to put it together until tomorrow. I have the 250GB 7200.4, so I'll also post temps and speeds.

I'm really excited to put the GTX 260M through its paces, because it seems like no one has raised the voltage and pushed it to it's limits.

Sure. Picked up the new HDD today.

Now I`m cloning my old HDD over to the new one. 16% total in 45 minutes. Does`nt look too good regarding tests today because I`m going to work in a couple of hours.

Would be really nice to see how far the GTX 260M could be pushed.

Ok, my new HDD, 7200.4 has different connector than my previous HDD, 5400.4. So it does`nt fit the connector in the laptop. The 7200.4 has to be pushed in horizontal but my 5400.4 has to be pushed in vertically.

WTH? Are all new HDD like this so I can only use my crappy HDD? Or is it a way to connect it that I dont see.

Here is a pic with HDtune on my old 5400.4 250gb

Here is a pic with HDtune on my new and sexy 7200.4 500gb

75mb/s on average and peaked at 100mb/s :)

Tempwise, it is much cooler than my crappy 5400.4 250gb HDD.

It is quiet too. Can`t hear much from it. Maybe some small qrackle/sparkle sounds from time to time if try to hear it.

Compared to my previous HDD, this one is blazing fast!

I got a m860etu, qx9300 gtx280m, and cpu gets 85 degrees after about 15min test prime95, is this ok? I thought the cooling system was really good. Its overclocked to 2.93Ghz and I haven't had time to test it during gaming yet. But do you think I installed the cpu paste right?

I highly doubt it is the m860etu, but rather the same one as in your sig.

But I wouldnt feel comfortable with those temps at all but I do hear that the danger threshhold is between 90 and 100. ask gophn though, he makes me feel secure ;)

You have the M570TU. 85*C after 15 minutes on prime95 is hot, even with the CPU at 2.93GHz. Are you using your notebook on desk or a cooler? What's the room temperature? What did you replace your thermal paste with?

No cooler just on flat desk during gaming it gets about 70-75. It was the first time I installed thermal paste so IDK if I did it right. I'm using stuff that came with my notebook, its in a syringe type thing, grey. I followed some instructions online that told me to spread it out with a razor but I'm thinking it might have been better to just put one drop on each square and let the heat sink spread it out. Do you think I should reapply the paste?
