I'm trying to get my eSata drive to connect. It won't. Other forums suggest to install drivers from the website below. Any idea which one?

    hey, first post

for record's sake I ordered the 1st place config from xotic, though my first choice was DARK

I plan to upgrade the ODD bay to a SSD later when the price comes down, isn't this ODD replacement bay the same as the one linked above?

also, I just got notice that the NP5125 has been backordered until late september, so I won't be receiving it in a while :(

I too plan on updating to a SSD once the price drops. I was wondering though, when did you order the laptop? I ordered mine about 2 weeks ago going through an exchange process.. I hope they at least got mine already but chances are they probably didn't.. I have already been waiting 2 weeks for this.. if I have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks I'm going to be very angry..

Mine went into production on the 7th and still hasn't been shipped. The wait is killing me too!

This model must be VERY in demand. I wonder how many orders come in a day/week?

After reading the review from the site, they really aren't a fan of the casing quality and the keyboard. However, this is coming from someone who reviews hundreds of computers and probably has higher standards than the normal laptop user.

So for those of you who have the unit, is the quality of the casing and keyboard REALLY that bad? I'm scared if I drop it an inch off the ground it'll break, or typing in class will sound like a type writer.

All things considered, it's an average keyboard. I guess people are mad at the keyboard because of its mediocrity compared to the above-average screen, performance, etc. (For the same reason, they are mad at the webcam, which is also average.) It's not a typewriter, but it's not silent either.

The build quality remarks I actually disagree with. I think the laptop (with the exception of the lid, which flexes) is pretty darn solid. Definitely more solid and less flexible than my last Dell but less than my ThinkPad T61. I wouldn't be worried about dropping it an inch (I know, you're exaggerating).

Yes, i'm trying... By morning i have put the UDPix to run and focus on the stuck pixel, now i'm on my job, well... already passed 5 hours and i will go back in 2 hours.

7 Hours of UDPix running at the Stuck Pixel, will give result?
If not, i'll try the other software in full screen mode by a full day.

Tried UDPixel for probably 3-4 hours. It didn't get rid of my blue stuck pixel. Haven't tested it for prolonged duration. Looked at JScreenFix.. looks like it can't fix the pixel at the short amount of time either. Tried tapping it gently... nope, didn't work. I'm not gonna return this thing, which took 3 weeks from order date to my country.

I had stuck blue pixel aswell, didn't really go away with all the software recommendations.
I heard that stuck pixels can sometimes unstuck themselves on their own, not sure if it's true but it would defiatelly be nice for those that got one. Like a little present some time later of owning your laptop :)

You do realize that returning it because of a tiny blue stuck pixel is going to cost you about $47 in shipping charges (thats based out of the US (same country they are based in so its cheaper) and to get it shipped back.. going to cost you $30.. again thats the price for a US resident so Is a stuck pixel really worth it to you for almost $100 with the chance of getting a worse off screen/another stuck pixel/s.. IMO only one stuck blue pixel really is almost lucky...

I just found an IR thermometer at work and brought it home. Just a quick look at the underside of the laptop shows that the exhaust vent is hovering around 100F at idle!

    More later.

Son's 5125 is from powernotebooks.com. i5 450m, FHD display, 4 GB Ram 320gb 7200rpm HDD, Intel Ultimate 6300. One dead pixel, but in his opinion -- no big deal.

I know how you feel... I first ordered my NP7110 8/1/10... I then got it on 8/25/10 due to back orders and what not.. So I had to wait 24 days.. I then returned it the 30th august for a replacement NP5125 because there were just too many problems with my NP7110 and the screen was just too big for my needs. I also ordered the replacement NP5125 on 8/30/10.. The same day I returned the laptop.

They just received the laptop I sent in on Thursday 9/9/10.. It has yet to finish going through with the stage making sure it is still in good condition and no problems or whatnot. 6 days later I am still waiting for them to at least place my order that I sent on 8/30/10. Once they credit me back for my previous laptop "supposedly this week" then they will place my order to sager...

I asked and yes, sager is back ordered and ran out of supply therefor leaving me waiting about a month to JUST GET MY ORDER PLACED and leaving another two weeks for checking over my device by them and then the rest for shipping.. In return, it has/is going to take a total of a month and a half to just get an exchanged laptop... between this laptop and my previous one that I am exchanging.. I have spent about TWO AND A HALF MONTHS JUST WAITING!!!

Sooo I know how you feel and really annoyed that sager keeps getting back ordered... its demand is so high at the moment, you would think they would realize this and bring up the supply rather than keep getting "back ordered" ughhh

    Let's try this one.

I just got back from class. My laptop was in sleep mode, so I woke it up and did some light browsing for 15 minutes. I'm getting a temperature reading from the vents (where the copper heatsink is visible) of 92F. This is with Optimus OFF, screen brightness at minimum and the laptop on Power Life mode.

    Don't feel bad. ;)

PowerNotebooks.com is not what you would call a minor dealer (just compare the number of reviews at Store Ratings & Reviews - ResellerRatings.com - Find Trusted Stores and our #1 ranking there http://www.resellerratings.com/rankings.pl), and our universe of customers is much larger than Notebookreview posters. There are also several posters here that haven't come forward to announce where they bought theirs.

We do appreciate your concern though...what a nice heart you have :)

No disrespect taken...your concern, while unnecessary, was actually very kind :)

Well I decide to install a mod onto the NP5125 a copper Shim Mod.
I got some copper shims from a aftermarket cooler from Scythe
that I used to cool down two 8800GTX in SLI.
I remembered The copper shims came with the packages.
So I decided to use the shims to cool down the CPU and GPU.

Heres some picks with the tools I used.

I ran 3D Vantage trial with stock settings.
Room Ambient was around 87*F to 90*F Will run tests again when at work with the air conditioning.

My idle temps where for the cpu core 1 37*C core 2 43*C
    GPU idle 42*C

    Load was core 1 77*C core 2 76*C
    GPU 65*C

    I also Installed a ADATA 128 SSD S596 128GB :D
    Will report results for drive.

Can some on post 3d vantage with HWMonitor running in the background so we can compare the results.

    Hey!

Just a quick question for D15 owners: is the expresscard port open or occupied in the default configuration of the machine? How about the mPCIe port?

I'm interested in vidocking a desktop graphics card into the D15, which (as I understand it) requires either an expresscard slot or a PCIe port, ideally both. I've been told the Sager NP5125 is not configured with an open expresscard slot, but feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.

    Thanks!

I don't think the NP5125/D15 even has an Expresscard port (open or otherwise).

    @brunotacca

Bahhh, you and washogren have the EXACT same laptop except for the wireless card then.. I'm so tempted to put them together because thats like a $30 difference and wireless isn't that big of a deal so idk what I should do /: maybe just combine all the same ones with just a wireless difference seeing as its so close in relation n just have like 802.11/N61,62,6300 or something.. any ideas?
