dude chill outon the lest side of the bar go to mannage 3d settings, something like that, it's the second option, there you have global settings. in the main settings screen.
well i just don't know what to say, i am running a sys monitor gadget in the back ground, i don't think it's that intensive, only 3% cpu i checked it...
can't squeeze more than 3 hours of web activity on the 62 Whr, mybe you can tell me how you configured the power saving settings and with what software, there are like 4 different softwares, in control panel, in the intel graphics settings and in the tray icon there is another something with power settings...
cpu is idle at 1.167 Ghz fan is quite, only intel gpu, notch above minimum brightness, i dunno...
btw did i already said i'm vvvery happy with the intel 6300n? defently the best upgrade in my setup, totally worth the money, best wifi card i've ever had. works like a little router.
-
If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it stated that those are constantly turning the 330m on and off as it monitors? That would account for your lessened battery life.
-
Nice. I am upgrading from a 4-5 year old Dell Latitiude D820. I am sure it will be night and day difference. Thanks for the reply.

Mine is arriving on Wed from Xotic.

mine is on backorder and im dying waiting for it. So im just reading up on people experience and everything sounds great. Just one thing that still seems to be debatable is the battery life. i
ordered the 62 Whr battery with a spare. I hoped to get 7-9 hours using both batteries assuming each battery would get 4 hours. t is impossible get 100% accuracy about the life of the battery since people use different settings and use different apps. I would be doing web browsing with light flash some youtube HD. some xvid and 720p mkv viewing. anyone that uses their laptop same way can you say approx battery life?
I think that the Intel could handle all this without switching to the 330m right wrong? Im on my HP-DV6000 which is like 3 to 5 years old and has the Intel Mobile945GM and it runs everything fine. i can't give battery performance cause i don't have one lol
I use the power adapter..
-
it's not like speedfan, it;s a gadget, sais how much ram is being use, speed of cpu, network traffic, nothing about gpu, it doesn't turn it on and off.
and in the subject, you can choose not to monitor gpu tem in speed fan thus making it usuable for measuring only cpu temp without ruining your dgpu. -

Flip4life did you get your order yet. you also got the backorder from XOTICPC right?
-
I was told that I was also hit with the back order.. But when I messaged XoticPC to change my order, they responded saying "I am sorry but I cannot make this change in your order seeing as it has already been shipped" Then about 10 minutes after I got the email from them, the status of my order changed from Phase 1 (Order Confirmation) to Phase 4 (Order Shipped). So I was told over the phone through technical support that I hit the back order process and the Phase 1 of my order showed to support but out of nowhere they updated my order and sent me the shipping info so i dont know what happened /:
-
oh thats confusing. did you check tracking number? that would be only way to know.
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Unless I am mistaken, I think flip4life was also dealing with a exchange which is a bit different of a scenario. We had already prepared his machine when the initial RMA was set up for exchange.
-
Yes this is correct and thanks for clearing it up.. May I say that I am rather happy? It was shipped the 16th from California with an expected delivery date of 9/23/10 and at 7:40pm today it says ARRIVAL SCAN BUFFALO, NY (where I live). So can this be true that it has arrived and will be shipped two days earlier then expected? I have never seen the expected delivery to be wrong and 4 days from California to New York seems a little fast on standard ground shipping... I honestly like cannot believe it because it took like 8 days to ship from California when I ordered the 7110... Im pleasantly surprised and maybe going to get it tomorrow? I wont believe it until I see it though..
-
that would be a pleasant suprise
Let us know how the exchange of 17'' to 15'' is for you. I returned mine from Xotic and so far I gotta say I'm really suprised how easy it is to deal with the company, nothing shady, and no "up yours" once they loose someone's business.
Rarely see a company that thinks into the future, what good customer service will bring, and not on the present, props. -
I called up customer support for UPS and spoke to a representative.. Sadly he told me that you are not able to pick up a package from the transit store until after it is attempted to be delivered (was hoping to go run and pick it up in the morning instead of waiting). Also.. It does not say that it has arrived in transit therefore he said that it may not be out for delivery tomorrow but a high chance it will be the day after tomorrow (still one day before scheduled delivery date). He said that strangely they may even hold off on putting it on the truck until the 23rd so it is the expected delivery date but again, He was giving me all of the situations that may happen because he cannot guarantee anything.
He seemed overly surprised that it was shipped from California to New York in just 4 days VIA ground shipping (he mentioned to me how surprised he was).
BUFFALO, NY, US | 09/ 20/2010 | 7:37 P.M. | ARRIVAL SCAN
CERRITOS, CA, US | 09/ 17/2010 |1:40 A.M. | DEPARTURE SCAN
CERRITOS, CA, US | 09/16/2010 | 10:52 P.M. | ARRIVAL SCAN
BALDWIN PARK, CA, US | 09/16/2010 | 10:26 P.M. | DEPARTURE SCAN
*(As you can see it actually left California a second time the 17th and arrived the 20th to NY so really its Three days from Cali to New York which is not right...)
HOPEFULLY I wake up tomorrow morning to see a great "out for delivery" message on the UPS website. I am truly confused as to how it shipped so fast though.. maybe they made a mistake and put it on priority or something? I mean the customer support man I spoke to must deal with 100's of these situations a day and the fact that he was extremely surprised as to how fast it was just make me think that something strange must have happened.. SOMETHING GOOOD!!!! But strange..
PS. To Answer Sumiks question I will indeed tell you how it goes. Overall it has been amazing so far... They have always been extremely understanding and helped me out whenever I had questions.. and now maybe receiving my laptop two days earlier then expected.. I'm very excited [:
PSS. To Sumik: I remember telling you a bit about my exchange process and my decision to go with the 5125.. Did you do the same as me? or are you actually returning it for money? or are you just exchanging it for a different laptop from them?
Thanks. [: -
I ordered one of those 2nd Hard drive CD caddy to hold a second hard drive.
I want to run my 128GB SSD for OS & APPS and a 320GB HDD Storage. -
PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED ON HOW THAT GOES!!! I am strongly considering doing it.. If you could make a vid or take pics on progress of installing it, it would be greatly appreciated.. Not just by me but my many other people I know who are also considering doing this. THANKS! [:

Update:
Yeah.. Soooo I'v been refreshing the UPS page every 10 minutes as I study for my Greek History Test tomorrow and... Ummm 12:43am | OUT FOR DELIVERY... Sooo Uhhh.. I'm Getting It Today
that's two days earlier then even ups estimated!!! I am so excited can't wait!!!!
I'll let you guys know how it turns out and how it compares to the NP7110 seeing as I'v had both by later today. Exchange with XoticPC has gone great so far and as long as there are no major problems (2+ dead/stuck pixels/scratched screen fan issues like I had in my 7110 then all should be well
) Oh yeah.. Did I mention that I CANT WAIT!?
-
hahaha sounds great. UPS and XOTICPC FTW..and please post pics or vid of unboxing.
-
Hey Guys,
Has anyone posted a unboxing video for Sager 5125 ?
I am eyeing on this for the past 3 weeks.
Much needed Unboxing video
I will be ordering 2 Laptops , one for me and another for my Friend
-
Vishfx - I posted an unboxing series of pictures, but no video.
Everyone else - has anybody been able to figure out the issue with the fan constantly turning on and off during idle? -
I'll try and do an unboxing for you today.. Mind you I am going to be terrible but I realize how you guys feel because I wanted one so bad so I may aswell give you guys what you want and what I wanted for that matter.
PS. I am also sick so ignore the fact that I might sound a little stuffy etc. -
Can anyone make a test for-me?
I'm still with problem in Counter-Strike 1.6
Can anyone with a Sager NP5125 install and play a little bit in windows 7 x64 to test?
I can offer my accounts and passwords in steam to install the counter-strike...
my msn: [email protected]
Warm regards. -
Dude.. I wouldn't go and give away your account or password.. No matter how much of a family we are.. You still cannot trust us with something like that even if CS 1.6 is the only game you have on the account... Most people who have steam have CS 1.6 so i would not go about giving your account information away just so someone can test something for you.. Thats all.
can anyone recommend a cheap sleeve (no pockets or anything really just a padded sleeve) that is good for the NP5125? I am getting a backpack meant to hold a laptop but I have heard that putting it in a sleeve is also a good idea for its saftey and the book weight against my laptop wont be very good so as much protection as possible. Thanks [:
PS. NEVER before seen this in my life and I have ordered A LOT of stuff through online:
From UPS Site Scheduled Delivery Date:
09/21/2010 (Updated)
09/23/2010 (Original)
[: [: [: [: Longest 2-3 hour wait in my life is coming up right about... NOW :O -
The updated date is the date that you'll get the laptop, so get ready to be excited
-
NOOOO!!! I just found out that the it when from Phase 4 (shipped) to Phase 3 (Custom painting/skinning). Apparently it's being shipped from CA to NE to get the skin put on the lid then it'll be shipped to me. Looks like it could be another month before I get it. :/ (up to 15 working days, plus shipping from NE to WA). I am saddened.
But oh well, as long as nothings wrong and I don't have to send it back due to dead pixels or anything like that, I'll be happy when it arrives.
-
flip4life ... Have you received your Lappy ?
-
Hey guys, I am narrowing my selection down and I am stuck between not getting a HDD and putting in my own Crucial 256GB C300 SSD or saving money and getting more RAM and a 500GB hybrid drive. What are your thoughts? By the way, I am planning on dual booting Win 7 x64 and FreeBSD x64 (or PCBSD), which is why I am thinking a 500GB drive might be a better choice than a 256GB. And I don't want to spend 1300 on a 400gB SSD. lol
-
I just received it today.. Installing drivers and programs and everything. I recorded the unboxing and will upload it within the next day or so.
-
Just created it this afternoon when I got it and a review video together as one. Finished it and editing it about 5 minutes ago so rendering it and uploading it to youtube.. Will give a direct link as soon as its done. [:
-
will you be buying a C300 or do you already have it?
-
I will be buying it. Probably from newegg as they were the cheapest I found. $549
-
from what I understand it's best to have a Sata3 controller for the C300, since the laptop doesn't have that I would recommend against it if you had any other reservations. save your money.
or you can install a hard drive now, and wait for newer SSD's (intel's new SSD's are supposed to be coming out soon) and install one in a hard drive caddy for the Optical drive bay, if you don't find yourself using it that often. -
yeah, I saw that about the SATA 3 controller for the C300. I think I will just go for the hybrid drive. The benchmarks I have seen for it are better than the Raptor and in some instances better than some 64GB SSD's, certainly better than a standard 7200RPM drive. And this will be a night and day difference over my current setup with 2GB of 667MHz RAM and 80GB HDD at 5400 RPM.
-
I can't wait to see your review flip4life
-
Don't get a hybrid drive, they suck. Get the 500gb 7200 RPM hard drive, and the default 4gb RAM. When the prices come down on SSD's, get a good sized one.
-
I love my hybrid. Start up takes ~15 seconds and shutdown is ~8 seconds.
Usain Bolt ain't got nothing on me. -
im at school right now but it came out to about 500MB so uploading to youtube wont be the quickest but it should be up by tonight.. just have to upload it and make sure it goes through uploading fine then ill be sure to post a link here [:
-
My 500GB HDD gives me a long boot, but waking up is faster than your SSD boot time! HAH!
Playing with numbers is pointless. Just get the drive that's within your budget. -
Amazon.com: Microsoft 15.6" Neoprene Laptop Sleeve: Electronics
That is what I use. I am in the same situation as you where I place the laptop in the sleeve and then my backpack which also contains a decent amount of heavy books/etc. -
@infinite012: good advice. Honestly at this point I think I will wait a little bit and go for the SSD. Won't have to wait long and I think it will be worth it.
-
The only thing i dont like about that is the handles.. I want it to literally be just a tight fitting case.. no handles or pockets.. I just want it to be a cushion to the laptop when in my backpack. Not to mention the backpack is meant for a 15.4" and this is a 15.6" so I am already cutting it close.. with those handles even folding them i think it would be a tight fit and more annoying then worthwhile :/ any other recommendations?
Currently uploading my 10 minute unboxing/review to youtube.. Link should be up sometime soon [: -
Just got mine.
The build quality of the keyboard is absolutely horrible, even worse than how the NBR review described it. It flexes with light pressure, and the rattling is quite worrying. (To hear the keyboard rattle, tap any key near the center without touching the laptop anywhere else. For regular usage you'll never hear rattling because resting your hands on the chassis muffles the sound.) Also, the front of the laptop flexes when I rest my hands on the edge.
The vent on left side of the notebook is poorly located: right below the two USB ports. The very hot air it spews outs makes me worry for my USB sound card.
But overall I'm very happy with this laptop. The screen is phenomenal and can't be beat in this price range. (There are hardly any other options for 1080 resolution for under $1000.) The button to switch off the dGPU works well, and Optimus seems to work fine too. I have yet to test the battery life (will post results later).
This is my first time using Windows 7, and the switch from xp is a bit of a headache (why does microsoft keep making control panel more confusing?). I will probably reinstall the OS, not because there's any bloatware included, but just to get better acquainted with W7. Thankfully sager is one of the few companies to still a windows reinstall cd.
The problems I mentioned about the build quality I believe may be an industry wide plague. Most companies are sacrificing sturdiness in their notebooks to make them lighter and slimmer because that's what sells. My old dell e1505 was built like a brick (and weighed like one too), and it's keyboard wouldn't flex the slightest with extreme pressure from a finger. I think the np5125 is quite light for a laptop of its size with a dGPU and good cooling system, so I'm willing to except a little flex. -
I haven't noticed mine doing this.
I reinstalled Win7, installed all the drivers from the disk, and then updated all the drivers from the webiste.
Lappy runs well, runs cool, and runs quiet.
I dunno, it's pretty much what I expected.
Given my good experience, I'm concerned about a manufacturing problem with those that are running hot or loud. -
While I wouldn't go so far as to say that hybrid drives suck, I would agree to just get the regular HDD and replace it with a SDD later.
Word is that Intel has some good SSD news coming in the near future that could make it a more consumer friendly market. i.e. in 6-12 months you may be able to get a SSD with 250-500 GB of storage for a reasonable price. -
I don't understand this "rattle" and "bad keyboard" and "flex"
I used this laptop today for the first day ever at school and the fan was.. what fan?
the keyboard is great.. not loud at all but obviously not as quiet as the Macbooks. The only real semi loud key is the spacebar.. and when I say semi loud.. I mean not loud at all and the rest are absolutely silent. LOVE LOVE LOVE this keyboard so whatever you guys are complaining about idk.. maybe you are HARD typers? I guess i might just be a soft typer? whatever.. I can type around 100WPM on a good day and an average of about 75-80WPM and I am giving you my honest opinion.. I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD.. the day I got this laptop (yesterday) I was doing typing tests and whatever and still got 100WPM with 75WPM avg so there is nothing wrong with the speed and I don't notice ANY of the problems above.
WELL HERE IT IS GUYS THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
MY REVIEW: YouTube - Sager NP5125 Unboxing/Review/First Look Video
It was JUST uploaded so the quality isn't the best because it is processing but for those of you who can't wait here ya go. It was rendered at 1080p so once it is processed it will look a lot better but then again not AMAZING because it was filmed from a BlackBerry 9650 so although 1080p render.. it cant record at 1080p or anywhere close
Just check out my unboxing/review/first look of the NP5125 and keep in mind: I HAD THE 7110 FOR A WEEK AND RETURNED IT FOR THIS. SO IF YOU ARE ON THE LINE ABOUT THE TWO THEN WATCH THIS FOR SURE BECAUSE I COMPARE IT TO THE 7110 A LOT.

The C300 is backward compatible to SATA II and given that it is the same price as the SATA II SSD (on Newegg.com), I can't see a reason not to get it.
-
Wow, I wouldn't say that this is the greatest keyboard ever, but it feels pretty good to me. I'm not sure what you are used to/what you were expecting, but, IMO the keyboard is average to above average quality. But, to each his own....
I guess that the front does flex a little when I rest my hands on it, but I did not notice it until you mentioned it. In fact, I have to actually press on the front to really notice any flex.
In the end, it seems like you are happy with it, but I have to disagree with your build quality assessments. -

My PCH is running at 64C, yet the fan is definitely more than audible 95+% of the time. This is just with me running a browser and a couple IM programs basically. All other temps are much lower. CPU Cores fluctuate from 38-40C, the Intel IGP is at around 44-45C, and hard drive is around 43C. For the CPU, graphics, etc., this is definitely lower temps by my Dell XPS 13, which is of course smaller, and yet the fan on the Sager is more audible than the XPS 13. Only ever so rarely does the fan cut down to being slow enough to where it is barely audible -- and it only does so for a moment. With temps well below 60C, the fan should be a lot quieter. If there is a fan control program that will work for this laptop, I would jump on it immediately. Something similar to the "1810tray" app I have for my Acer 1410 11.6" laptop. I can basically set the temp when the fan kicks on, when it should kick on high, etc. So I basically have it where the fan is either off or on very low when I'm doing regular browsing, which keeps the laptop completely silent.
Some of the reviews I read of the NP5125 said the fan was pretty silent. I don't have supersonic hearing or anything, so it is making me wonder about my fan/notebook as well.
