does Medal of Honor use PunkBuster?
-
Do you guys think they will ever fix this PB issue?, cause I really want to get this laptop
-
maybe, but only if game publishers and nvidia start getting on EvenBalance's back about it, cuz atm evenbalance dont seem to care
-
Instead of giving Crap-Timus, nVidia should have some faith in its users and allow THEM to press a button to turn on/off the graphics. If nVidia can't do that, they should just let them do it from bios.
-
Ya this is pretty sad, I really wanted to get this lappy. You guys should all get together and call or make a petition to nvidia or more then likely PB, cause its there program that is false flaging Optimus, I really dont think with out a remake of Optimus they will be able to fix it, which doesn't help you present guys any, but write them or all go to there PB site and go to the forums or somethin and slam them, as far as number of posts, cause this is way to rampent, companys sellin stuff that dont work and they dont do anything about it, this forum as well as other users need to get in there face and have them fix this or I whould demand my money back, sence ya cant use it on any of the games that use PB.

This might have been covered a while back but what has been your experience as to fan noise under different circumstances. We need this for feedback...
-
browsing the internet, fan is on full blast.
-
i don't know what that is but when i was done installing the game it gave me option to either install it or not i didn't install it
-
Just noticed Sager brought back the np5125 on its website, for $80 cheaper than the np5135 (which means it's $100 cheaper than it was a month ago). Pretty good deal if you don't game much.
Unrelated, I also noticed my np5135 doesn't have an "Intel Core i5 inside" logo next to the numpad like my np5125 did. I guess they forgot to slap one on at Sager (thankfully, I hate those stickers). And HWMoniter reports my CPU as being an i5-540m when it's supposed to be i5-460m. Strange... -
lol, did they accidentally give you a free upgrade?
-
ARe you guys saying this laptop has problems now? Thats what i see in the last few pages...
-
Don't worry, people are picky, expecting nothing but perfection, lol. Even though nothing in this world is perfect. There isn't a single laptop out there that is perfect. Regarding the last few pages, most of it is about the optimus feature and punkbuster. They currently don't like each other very much. But people need to understand that optimus is still in the early stages. Once it get's more mainstream, of course there will be more compatibility. It's just a matter of patience (or drivers).
-
only issue ive been complaining about really is punkbuster, and its something that i complained about WAY earlier in this thread as well, so its not just recent
-
ya its a great lappy, lol its a gaming computer that cant run the most used anti cheat program, wow kinda like havein a car that can only run on half the roads, nahhhh dont mind us, were just bein picky!!! I'm sorry I seem upset but for them not to have a fix for this in all the time Optimus has been out, and its the same problem with PB with other laptops that have optimus, its just silly, I'm actully gettin a laptop that doesnt have Optimus but I feel for people in this forum and the others for the other lappys havein the same problem, I hope they get it together and fix this and that you guys can use your lappy for the reasons you bought them
-
I received my NP5135 few days ago.
Still setting it up... (I'm slow)
Haven't played any games on it yet... in the midst of downloading SC2 from Blizzard which seems to take a million years.
I have one stuck pixel (haven't tried to fix it yet) and it bothers the heck out of me.
I've had no fan/noise/heat issues thus far - everything's nice and cool and quiet (but haven't done anything outside webbrowsing, installing lots of crap, windows updates, etc - only pointing this out because some of you have fan issues?)
Speakers suck, but everyone knows this.
I personally like the keyboard and touchpad (some have said they didn't like it)
What else... -
Amen to that. Not having the ability to turn it off in BIOS is a huge oversight. And using the iGPU in concert with the dGPU for Optimus and thus making it impossible to run strictly the dGPU sucks. Thankfully from what I have read from Intel's site on the iGPU, it is optimized (haha) for HD viewing of BluRays. And NVIDIA not providing or even planning down the road to provide Optimus drivers for *nix when many of the cards are now Optimus only, is weak. Makes me wish there was an ATI option for this lappy. Hmmm, can you order this without GPU and put a comparable non-optimus one in yourself?
-
Nope, the dGPU is soldered onto the motherboard, like on most notebooks. Only the expensive Sagers (and Asus's I think) allow GPU swapping. That's why Clevo/Sager renamed the B5100M/np5125 to B5130M/np5135 when it upgraded the dGPU, unlike the W860CU/NP8690 which has stayed the same despite having several GPUs.
-
I e-mailed the Xotic PC people and they said that all components of the NP5135 is changeable. I'm not sure if that also includes the GPU, but I think it would if he said that. I emailed him for some clarification.
-
YO,
Did any of you purchase the NP5125 (D15) from DARK?
I did a while back, and I'm really liking the laptop, BUT darkpcs.com is down and has been for a few weeks. Shane has stopped responding to my emails and the customer service number they gave me went to a weird machine.
???
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Shane, if you're out there, some info would be appreciated.
I guess I should have went with a bigger company. Maybe I'm panicking too soon. -
Dark stopped selling Clevos, as explained in this post.
Did Dark sell anything else besides Clevo/Sager notebooks? If they did then the Sager fallout wouldn't explain why their website is down. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
It is unfortunate as it appears shanes new company went down like his last one. If there is anything I can help with you are welcome to PM me and I would be happy to help. Unfortunately any parts they customized would not have any warranty unless they have some form of MFG warranty. Your barebone shell will have warranty with Sager for 1 Year from the date he purchased the Barebones. -
What drivers are the majority of you using? The drivers provided from Sager? Or the new nvidia 260.99 drivers?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Some are having problems installing these new 260 series drivers from nVidia. We would like to know how have these been working on the NP5135 as well...
-
Please post the results of your PM with Xotic PC. Switching out the dGPU would be a great thing for those of us who do not like Optimus or cannot use it.
Being able to replace it with something like the GTS 350M with no Optimus would be great. It does have a TDP difference of 5 Watts. How much would that affect the heat and battery life over the 425 with a TDP of 23W vs 28W for the 350M. Would the fans be able to cool it sufficiently? -
Does anyone have experience with this model and CUDA development? From reading CUDA Developer Guide for Optimus Platforms I can see that you can do CUDA development, but I'm curious if the Optimus platform prevents one of the issues with CUDA and Windows.
I believe the windows watchdog timer causes problems with CUDA when using the CUDA device as the main GPU. From what I can gather, Optimus should, in theory, prevent this behavior.
On my desktop I've resorted to developing in Fedora, but from reading this thread, the 425M linux support is pretty much nonexistant, so it's essential that it works in Windows. -
You can find it here:
Look for school and occasional gaming notebook - XOTICPC Forums
I'm not sure if you need to sign in in order to see it or not but I will quote right here:
-
XoticPC says in this video the GPU is not user upgradeable. That's for the np5125, but I highly doubt the np5135 is any different. I'm too lazy to open mine up to check.
-
Well this is absolutely crappy. First they release the NP5135 then DARK goes out of business and voids all my customer support and warranties.
Thanks for the offer to help Justin! -
260.99 doesn't work on the 5125, at least. ):
And to clear things up, the GPU is the only thing soldered to the board on both the NP5125 and 5135, which are really the same laptop except for the upgraded parts, hence the minor number update. -
Anyone else hear/feel vibrations when they rest their hands on the laptop?
-
It could be your hard drive vibration or it isn't secured snugly.
-
My DVD drive was crazy loud and vibratey.
-
I don't feel vibrations.
My DVD drive isn't loud at all also.
-
Ditto. I thought my laptop would fall apart when I was installing the drivers that came with the laptop... Good thing I have no plans to use CDs/DVDs much.
What is everyone using to fix dead pixels? -
Final word from Justin on the replaceable GPU question. It is not upgradeable; it is soldered to the motherboard. Booo!!!
-
I thought it was most likely my HD. I assume your SSD causes no such problem. Maybe I'll try opening my laptop up and seeing if there's anything loose, but my previous np5125 had the same vibrations so I'm not optimistic.
Know exactly what you two are talking about. When I was reinstalling win7 the ODD was loud as thunder. Putting a finger to the outside of the tray silenced it a lot, but the whole drive seems very cheap so I never pick the laptop up from that spot. I too am glad I rarely use CDs. -
Does it still make the same vibration if the hard drive is idle or in bios?
-
mine vibrates as well, especially if it's on a wood desk
-
Edit: Nevermind =p
-
Haha, most laptop CD drives vibrate like a and sound like a jet taking off.
My NP5125 doesn't vibrate one bit except for when using the CDROM, at least. -
everyone with vibrating or non-vibrating laptops: it probably depends on the hard drive you got, I got the seagate 7200.4 500GB and I can feel the vibrations when I put my hands on the laptop in a typical typing position, but it isn't distracting.
-
Did anything ever become of the plan to introduce a 9-cell battery for this model? They were supposed to have it half price for those that ordered this model early on when only the 6-cell was available..
Thanks -
My Short NP5135 Review:
Reactions:
Just received my NP5135 today guys from XOTIC PC.
Just two words to describe it , ITS AWESOME !!!
Meets my expectations !!!
Pros:
The best LCD screen I have seen so far. 1080p ROCKS !!!
Very Lightweight compared to my Ferrari 5000.
Good Web-cam.
Fingerprint Reader works like a charm.
Built is pretty SOLID.
Runs Pretty cool, Avg Temperature is 40-45 C
Ubuntu runs like Breeze.
Cons:
Lots of OPTIMUS tweaking needed.
DVD Drive could have been of better quality.
Watch out for lots of Benchs.... -
there was never a 9-cell battery in my understanding, they made a better 6-cell battery that was 62 WH instead of 48WH. I have one and it doesn't protrude from the case at all

Hi Vishfx:
How quiet is the NP5135? The least noisy notebooks that I have used are the Mac Book Pros or old Lenovo T series, which were absolutely silent. Is the NP 5135 on par?
Also, how would you assess the quality of the keyboard (mushy, flexy or solid as the Sonys/MBP)? I'm on the fence about either the NP 5135 or XPS15
Thanks,
C.
-
The DVD drive can be a bit noisy at times. i.e only when u use it.
Tha cpu fan is pretty quiet. -
I have had no problems with its noise, though some people have (search older pages - some seem to have fans blowing full blast in BIOS??). I find it quite quiet. Nevertheless, the Lenovo T series is absolutely much quieter.
-
The NP5125 at least has a very loud fan when you're using the dGPU. Switch back to the iGPU and a half-minute later the fan is mostly quiet. Dunno about the 5135.
-
Does anyone know if you disable the internal graphics, what is the highest resolution you can get on the nVidia GT330m?
