calbear96, i'm sorry to interrupt your intriguing questions but this topic was discussed a lot in this very forum, xorg.conf files were uploaded and discussed, so has the subject of X64 ubuntu which isn't reccomended atm by ubuntu themselves.

this forum has a really good search option, you should use it, i doubt you'll have any more questions.

I have searched high and low, otherwise I would not have asked. I have read every page and did not remember x64 being discussed, but I will look further. All has been figured out anyway and x64 is working great. And given that there is no xog.conf and touchpad works "out of the box" I am very happy

I downloaded the 266.58 drivers from Nvidia last night. These drivers were released on January 18th, and can be found here.

And guess what? It installed properly without a hitch, did not break optimus, and better yet, can play games that use Punkbuster without getting kicked! I logged around 3 hours in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 last night just to be sure, and on multiple servers. No more getting kicked for multiple display drivers.

    Happy day! :]

Hey guys, I'm using Windows 7 Pro x64 and WinSAT keeps running on startup for me. The only major changes I've done are installing the 265.xx drivers someone posted a while back. It's not the scheduled task, because that's only scheduled to run once per week. Does anybody know a solution for this problem? Thanks.

Never mind. I can't seem to find a way to stop it through the software, but it only runs when I'm plugged into the AC adapter.

    Hi Sager NP5125/5135 users

    I'm currently considering a purchase of the Sager NP5160 which I've read has a similar chassis with the Sager NP5124/5135. However, I have some questions about this model;

Does the venting of exhaust on the side with the ports in proximity cause problems with the ports? The Sager NP5160 has an exhaust vent on the left and it's quite close to the USB ports. So I'm just worried that prolonged exposure to the exhaust will damage the ports.

Does your model also has vents on the front of the laptop? Are these vents intake vents or exhaust vents?

Finally, any other advise on Sager or the Sager NP5160 that you guys can provide will also be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Hey, I carry around a B5130 right now (5135) and never had any issues with the fan taking out some ports. The vents on the front are just passive vents, the blower actually intakes from the bottom. Other than that they are good workhorse laptops that get business done and some gaming too. I like mine.

The air coming out from the left vent can be very hot when using the dGPU, so I do consider it a design flaw. When I place a glass of water half a foot away from my laptop, it becomes warm fairly fast. I don't worry about the ports, but I do worry when I plug a USB sound card in without using an extension cord. But other than that the cooling system is very good; temps never get too high.

Can't feel the air moving much in front of them; they are small.

This was driving me insane also. The laptop was bogging down for the first few minutes every time it was powered on. All this does AFAIK is update the "Windows Experience Index", which frankly I could care less about. My fix was to rename the WinSAT.exe to WinSAT2.exe so the system can't find the executable to run it. (If I ever need to re-run the test I just rename it back, run it, then change it again) However to do this you need to change permissions on the file because it is owned by "TrustedInstaller" so you won't have access rights to it.

    I did this as follows:
    - Go to C:\Windows\System32\WinSAT.exe
    - Right click on that file and select Properties
    - Go to Security tab and select Advanced
    - Go to Owner tab, select Edit
    - Change the owner to Admin
    - OK back out to the Security tab, then select Edit
    - Give Admin Modify access, which will allow Read/Write
    - Click OK and close the form
    - Now rename WinSAT.exe to WinSAT2.exe (or whatever you want)

Done. No more WinSAT processes hogging all the CPU.

I haven't seen any adverse effects from this, but there might be a log file somewhere complaining about not being able to find WinSAT.exe, not sure about that.

No one's mentioned SpeedFan lately. What's the deal on that? There still doesn't seem to be a motherboard profile for the NP5125's B5100M that I can find, but perhaps someone else may know. Any other fan control programs working yet?

    Hello everybody

I was looking over on the forums but i didnt see any result on this question, maybe one of you can point me into the right direction.

I have a computer based on a Clevo b5130m so it is the same exterior chasis.

Ii would like to protect it, cover the laptop cover (that is easy) AND also cover the wrist zone and the touchpad.

So i search over the internet, and i found
    laptop covers everywhere.
    touchpad ok, found. (standart size

but wrist cover.. it is kind of hard.

I was thinkig of getting the cover material in sheet and cut it down myself.

But if i can avoid all the mesuaring and cutting it would be great.

So: do you know where we can buy covers for the entire laptop for this chasis?
i saw a lot for HP, acer, apple.. etc..
    but not for this clevo..

    Thanks for the ideas.

My bluetooth is still not working...

I search on this post and found a answer to Download Windows Mobile Device Center, I downloaded and still not working...
This keep saying: "The attached Bluetooth dongle is not supported."...

    Some questions...
I need to "plug in" any kind of hardware/device in my notebook to make it work?

Or, I just need activate my bluetooth on my cellphone? (That is what I'm doing)

    Anyone solved this problem?

    Thanks.

    Sure.
What do you do to transfer your files?
    - Turn on bluetooth on notebook and on the mobile device (eg: smartphone).
    - Both, notebook and device can find each other?

    Thank you.

Anyone know if there is a manual or guide (anything really) that can help with the dis-assembly of the NP5125? Something along the lines of removing the plastic section that is covering the keyboard, etc.

Thanks for that, it helped out quite a bit.

I am also having another issue with my NP5125 laptop, maybe someone has any suggestions to get it taken care of.

About 2 weeks ago I left the laptop on for about 1-2hrs with a few downloads running and went about my day. After I came back I instantly saw and found it odd that the laptop did not enter sleep/low power/screen off mode since it was sitting idle with just downloads on. After I started trying to use the laptop it seemed very sluggish and overall different compared to how it was before.

Since then I have been having the same issues. With only 1-2 programs running (browser and something like Winamp or VLC player) I often find the memory being 95% in use. If it turn the programs off, the memory does not drop to regular levels for very long times. If I have a browser running and nothing else it often uses 25% of the 4GB just to run that, and if VLC is turned on it spikes to almost all ram used. Before I could easily run multiple browsers, VLC/Winamp/games all at the same time and it would never bog down or feel slow. Other issues I have noticed is that when I try to use Winrar to extract files it will take a very long time. Also when you open a window such as downloads folder, the load bar on top of the window takes forever to complete. I have also been having trouble deleting larger media files, it will often say calculating size/etc and then after a while it will confirm the deletion only to tell me that the file is in use with windows even though it actually isn't. Few other issues include very lengthy shutdown procedures and in general takes very long to open programs that were pretty much instant before.

At first I thought the memory was going bad so I ran Memtest86. I ran it on both sticks of ram at the same time, I ran it with only 1 stick of each, and all three setups passed memtest86 with zero errors. I have ran error check through Windows and found nothing. I have ran MSE/Spybot search and destroy and found no malicious software present. I have ran out of ideas to try and diagnose what is wrong with the laptop.

Would anyone have any clue as to what the problem might be and how I can go about fixing it.

Is there a restore point that the computer could go back to before the sluggishness?

If not, would it be much trouble to reinstall windows? If it were me, that's what I would do instead of trying to diagnose and repair a software based problem.

Has anyone else had fan noise problems? Not necessarily grating or odd noises, just that it's ALWAYS at a very audible level. Is this computer supposed to be this loud? It sound like a ed jet engine.

    Sager NP5135 Latest Drivers

Hello everybody. I have owned a Sager NP5135 for almost 5 months now, and I have seen that on Sager's site there are no updated drivers posted. All the drivers on that site are exactly the same as the drivers I have on the DVD that came with my laptop.

Having previously owned an ASUS motherboard and video card I was used to getting updated drivers every few months or so (from their web site) and they really helped with the performance and stability of my former system. But I see that the people over at Sager don't really care about offering updated drivers on their site, so I went out and searched for updated drivers from the manufacturers of the various components in my laptop.

I thought I shared these drivers on the forum with you, and I also ask you if you find updated drivers for this laptop, to post links to those drivers here.

Here are the updated drivers I found (they are for Windows 7 x64):
I have installed all these drivers and they work.
These drivers are all in English.

    1. Intel display driver
Version on Sagers site: 8.15.10.2189 (this is the Driver Version displayed in Intel's control center application)
Updated version: 8.15.10.2993 (this is the Driver Version displayed in Intel's control center application)
Updated version: 15.22.58.2993 (this is the version displayed on Intel's site)
This is the display driver for the graphics card integrated in my Intel Core i7-640M, but I noticed that the download link is exactly the same for Intel Core i5 processors, so I guess the drivers are for both i5 and i7.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22518

    2. Intel chipset drivers for Intel 5 series laptop chipsets
    Version on Sagers site: 9.1.1.1020
    Updated version: 9.3.0.1026
This is the Intel INF update utility installer.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20775

    3. NVidia GT425M video card drivers
    Version 314.22
    http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/59645
Optimus works and the VGA button on the laptop also works

    4. Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN driver
    Version on Sagers site: 2015.0.423.2010
    Updated version: 2021.0.0203.2012
    http://218.210.127.131/downloads/do...n=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

    5. Hotkey application
    Version on Sagers site: 3.3005
    New version: 3.3007
I got this from Clevo's site. The link is for the B5130M drivers download page. Those drivers are just as old as the ones from Sager, but the hotkey application is newer.
    http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=B5130M&ltype=7

    6. JMicron card reader driver
    Version on Sagers site: 1.0.48.1
    Updated version: 1.0.75
    ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/CardReader/Windows/JMB38X_WinDrv_R1.00.75.03_WHQL.zip

    7. JMicron PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
    Version on Sagers site: 6.0.20.12
    Updated version: 6.0.33.3
    ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/Ethernet/Windows/JMC2xx_WinDrv_R0.0.33.3_WHQL.zip

    8. USB 3.0 controller driver
    Version on Sagers site: 1.0.20.0
    Updated version: 2.1.39.0
    Updated firmware: 3028
The driver that was on the CD was "NEC USB 3.0 driver", but it looks like the company has renamed to "Renesas" or something like that. Anyway, it looks like there is an updated driver, and also an updated firmware installer. I have installed both of them and the USB3 works.
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm (click the pictures of the floppy disks to download)

    9. Synaptics touchpad driver
    Version on Sagers site: 15.0.8
    Updated version: 16.2.21
The update is really nice, it provides chiral scrolling and also the Scrybe application wich allows you to use gestures on your touchpad to perform tasks, run applications etc on your computer. The Scrybe application is an optional install, so you don't have to install it if you don't want to.
    http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers

    10. VIA VT1812 audio driver
    Version on Sagers site: 6.0.1.6066
    Updated version: 6.0.10.1700
    http://station-drivers.com/page/viachip.htm
It's in the Audio section, under "HD Audio Codec".

I haven't found any updated BIOSes for this laptop, but I thought I'd share my BIOS version with you so you can check if your BIOS is older or newer. If you have a newer BIOS on your Sager NP5135, please post in this thread.
    BIOS revision: 1.00.01S LS1
    KBC/EC firmware revision: 1.00.02
    GPU VBIOS: 70.08.12.00.FF

My AC adapter seems to have a tear or something somewhere, since it doesn't charge unless I kinda wriggle it around like an old tv antenna. I have tried looking for a replacement online, but I can't find one for the life of me. I don't know if I am looking in the wrong places but yes I would like to order a new AC adapter but I am having no luck at all.
its a 100-240V input and the only thing that looks like a brand is
    Li Shin International Enterprise Corp.

By the way, the nVidia 267.76 driver update from last month for the GT 330M on the NP5125 works perfectly.

Hi, If I should make my own thread for this question please let me know.

I have an NP5125 that I got last August. So far it's been running decently well except for some difficulty with the USB 3.0 port but that's beside the point. Recently, as of maybe a month ago, I have started having hard shutdowns in the middle of playing games. I'm not talking BSOD's, I'm talking 'my speakers sort of crackle, like static, and then my computer completely shuts off. Like I was holding down the power button, except I'm not.

This only happens in game (possibly graphics driver?). I've noticed it specifically Crysis 2, Lego Starwars 3, and just today Portal 2, which is why I'm on the forum now. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing or should I just collect on my warranty.

I'm finding it difficult to troubleshoot because there's no error's being given, just a shutdown. And it doesn't happen every time I play a game, which also makes it difficult to isolate a problem. I'm particularly afraid it's going to happen while it's saving a game and I'm going to get corrupt saves. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

    Thanks

Edit: So I think it has something to do with the dedicated graphics card. The integrated card (surprisingly enough) can play Portal 2 on very low settings, and I have no problems when I do (except for ty graphics and some lag) but as soon as I tell it to use my dedicated card to play Portal 2 I start getting cold shutdowns. I just updated my driver to the 270.61 nvidia driver and just got another crash. Any ideas?

It sounds like an overheating problem. Try using a notebook cooler, or open your laptop and clean it as it may have gathered dust in the cooler.
Also, try using an app that measures and logs your temperatures (SpeedFan). If you notice that your temperature gets very high before shutdown, that could be your problem.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that. The only problem with speedfan on the 5125 is that it checks both the dedicated and integrated cards on regular intervals, making it switch on and off. Do you know if there is a way to make it only check the dedicated card?

I don't think there's any way to do that. But you could find another temperature monitoring app on the internet (there are lots of them).

Question: Do I need to remove my laptop battery if I am going to be plugged in for long periods of more than four hours?

    I have a Clevo B5100M / Sager NP5125.

I've been noticing a whole lot of headphone jack noise since I updated my Optimus drivers. Anybody else notice this?

totally unrelated to this as its a sager owners thread that i just stumbled onto while clicking toward the np5165 owners thread; BUT, i had this issue while my HP DV6604NR since day one.

ended up having crazy amounts of headjack noise when the machine was plugged in. on battery power, perfectly silent. aggravated the hell out of me.

    carry on.

You're absolutely right. When the laptop is plugged in there is a ton of noise. When on battery power alone, silent.

This is driving me insane. It didn't used to do this. I thought it might be related to the latest nvidia drivers because that's when I first noticed the noise (I think it was driver 260.xx, but not 100%). I've also noticed that the plastic around the power plug at the back of the laptop is almost... melting?

yeah now that i think about it, it didn't always do it. it started shortly after i got the machine though.

everyone i talked to attributed it to a possible bad ground. try plugging it in to the wall directly vs a powerstrip vs surge protector/battery backup. i remember it would happen constantly at my GFs house plugged in to her powerstrip but not directly in the wall at my house.

i ended up somewhat solving it by using VLC when streaming movies to my TV. if you keep the system (windows) volume low but the VLC volume up high (might have to enable 400% sound volume option) then the noise would be minimal. increasing the system and/or TV/surround volumes seemed to increase the noise exponentially.

This exact same thing happened to mine (NP5125). After installing the latest nVidia update. The port was visibly deformed and heated up to the point where you'd actually get a painful burn if you accidentally brushed against it. I actually ended up sending it back for servicing and the entire bottom cover was replaced. I've decided to submit a bug report to nVidia anyway, suggest you do, too.

Do you still have loud fan problems? Because this was the primary reason I sent it back, but they told me that the fan shuts off at 40C, alas since it never goes that low it is forever doomed to having a noisy fan.

Does anyone know anything about the Fn + 1 fan toggler? It doesn't seem to work on this model, and most Sager notebooks have had this.

Speaking of which, is the fan supposed to be quiet? By quiet I mean enough not to be overheard in a quiet classroom.
