Only problem I have is when I hooked up to my plasma (720p) with HDMI I could not change the resolution to anything but 1280x1024 or something. Also, Blueray would not play on the plasma -- I just got color variation (flashes). Using 192.65 with the patched .inf from laptopvideo. Any ideas??
Loving this thing -- a multi million poly model in Max2010 x64 spins like nothing! -

What's the native resolution that your plasma TV runs at?

I plan on later putting a hard drive in a optical bay caddy. Was wondering about raid. Can I have raid set up for two of the same hard drives and have the SSD not in raid mode?

I'm pretty sure that's what jeff0078 is referring to, yes.

Hi guys, I just got the 8760 and right now I'm installing all the software.
How are your trackpad buttons?
On mine 8760 the one on the right is smooth, perfect, the other one on the left side makes a sound like a "click" everytime I press it; it's a little clunky.
Anybody else? I don't want to send it back just for these ... -
I still have a while before mine comes. Who did you order through? -
Yes, I probably should've quoted him, but I was too lazy. Just thought it was funny that he was off by that much. -
This community is great Jeff, I'm glad I decided on a Sager.
I was browsing the internet today and stumbled onto notebookforums.com where I saw a post that they have the most active Sager community available. Most of their posts were 2+ months old, with a few recent ones. Apparently they have not been here. I didn't want to hijack there forum with a plug for NBR, so I just kept my mouth shut and navigated back here where the Sager community is tops in my book.
And yes, he was off by a good deal. -

Hello guys,
I want to ask you about the sound of fan. If you compare with M570TU, is w870cu is more silent or has higher noise?
also 4kg is with 2nd HDD? -
I would imagine they'd be pretty close.. I believe our very own SS has owned both, and can give you the official word.
-

The W870CU has quieter fans than the M570TU, both at idle and at load.

1- I have some more questions. Which color looks better and quality? I think there is one piano black or dark blue and just simple black, Am I right?
2- If you compare QX9300 and some of I7 processors, there are really big difference? For example, all of these three are better than q9100 or qx9300?:
Intel CoreTM i7-920XM Extreme Edition processor
(45nm, 2.0GHz, FSB1333, 8MB L3 cache, rPGA988A)
Intel CoreTM i7-820QM processor
(45nm, 1.73GHz, FSB1333, 8MB L3 cache, rPGA988A)
Intel CoreTM i7-720QM processor
(45nm, 1.60GHz, FSB1333, 6MB L3 cache, rPGA988A)
Is there any scheme that shows it?
3- I think speaker problem is solved with this model. speakers are not located at the side of laptop like m570tu and they have better and stronger sound, right?
4- And lastly, 4 kg is with 2nd HDD or without?
Thank you for answering my bothering questions. -
afaik lithium polymer (lipo) are similar to li-ion battery.
these are some things i learned about li-ion and lipo batteries when i did some research about my smartphone.
they are different from nimh, nicad, and rechargeable alkaline in the sense that you you dont need to fully discharge them. these older batteries have what they call memory effects and need to be 'reset' by full discharge to retain a 100% charge capacity. li-ion and lipo dont have these memory effects. also, i remember readin on some sites that even state that fully discharging them is bad for the battery. -

The 820QM should be a tad bit faster than the QX9300, and the 920XM will pull away with the gold.

All conventional batteries regardless of chemical composition will see the affects of the "memory effect." It's more of a question of to what extent and when it will happen. Lithium (alkali) based batteries are just as susceptible to the memory effect compared to alkaline (ZnMnO2), NiMH and NiCad batteries. NiMH and NiCad batteries are generally said to be immune to the memory effect, but they still do experience it over multiple partial cycles.
All batteries will suffer damage if charge or discharged beyond their minimal and maximal rated nominal voltages. However, the cells in our notebook battery packs are protected so that never happens. -
but yes Soviet is right @ stock speeds the I7 will beat a qx9300( if you dont overclock it ) -

how did my post end here?!? haha was supposed to post it in the 8690 forums.
but from what ive read its the li-ion and lipo batteries that are said to be immune to memory effects. and even with the circuitry in place, it is not recommended that the battery be discharged to 0%.
anyways i recycle one a month to around 30% and thats worked for me. -

hmmm i dont think i saved the bookmark ss.
it was some battery website knowledge base. good info there.
they mentioned not reccomening discharging to 0% because there could still be a trickle effect even with the circuit in place. and they went on to mention that they have documented a few smartphone batteries have been damaged this way. -

Okay, I'll take a look into it later. Thanks, trvelbug. It looks like I'll be sacrificing one of my 18650's.

Stable? Nope.

Thank you for answer guys,
I definitely think to sell my m570tu or give it back. I hope I can buy w870cu. -
by the way, what is ithe difference between gforce gtx 280m MXM 3.0 and MXM 2.1? %5 - 10% performance difference?
-
Mandrake was stable @ 4.0 he ran 06 and the CPU score was the same as an I7 desktop @ 3.0 ghz

Now that's what I'm talking about. Conducted outside in the ice cold tundra. The machine is certainly stable, but the user won't be for long. I wonder how InteBurnTest plays with the 4GHz QX9300.

Well, it's a 720P set. I think it's a driver issue since I tried to play a blueray on the machine earlier and got the same green/blue flashing...
-
are you connected thru hdmi? if so, try to look thru the hdmi set up in your tv. i know i tweaked something there 2 years ago when i started using it for my bluray laptop. -
starting to get p&ssed-off on the video driver situation -- why the hell don't the official nvidia drivers work with this thing?? it's G.D. listed as supported FFS! the inf modded ones don't work with bluray! dammit - not very f-ing happy...
-
as for modded inf drivers, some will work with BD and some wont. to find out which ines work you have to look thru the forums here:

-
oh yeah. the posted drivers not working fiasco...
just roll back -
the drivers is one of the reason i think dell stopped selling it on theirs due to the Nvidia cards,
-
Just pulled the trigger with Xotic PC on this laptop -got it with a 60GB SSD as the primary drive and a 640GB drive as the second disk. Props to Justin for putting up with all my stupid questions!
-
I am using the drivers from the CD-ROM \Drivers\02Vga\nv18726\
No issues.
It may not be the latest posted on Nvidia's website but I have no complaints with the one on the CD. -
im using the drivers that came on the cd as well, no problems at all

I just ordered the 8760 thanks to the info I read from several threads in here. Once I get it, is there anything in particular that I have to fix outside of custom things for me? I don't plan for any overclocking or anything like that.
