I'm not HALF the man as you Soviet!!! I've read through this whole thread already! -laughs-

And BTW: After looking through this thread I just want to confirm that there is no way to OC a 740QM on this notebook, even through setfsb? :C

I don't see any official Nvidia GTX470M drivers...I wonder when they would be updating that...or maybe I'm mistaken?

    NiBiTor 6.0

The new exclusive version has the following enhancements:
    Support for new Devices
    - GeForce GTX 580
    - GeForce GTX 570
    - GeForce GT 430
    - GeForce GT 140
    - GeForce GTX 460M
    Updated Support for Devices
    - GeForce GT 240M

People that has a 470M should send their BIOS to them so they can be added to the supported cards.

If you look at the manual, it shows you the steps on how to remove the optical drive, it's as easy as taking a few screws out and pushing the drive out. 12.7mm is the correct dimensions for the optical drive and you can slap that sucker right in!

bstapley and my GTX 460 3DMark11 scores are posted here, mine is quoted in the first post, bstapley is further down.

The ATI m5870 acutally performs better in 3Dmark11 than the 460m, I expect the 470m however will pwn the 460m, 480m, and the m5870.

Sorry, Clevo is still kinda vague about this. Besides the USB 3.0 added recently there is some component on the motherboard that is at least slightly different. They did not say what component, at least not yet.

The bottom line is it may or may not work on a NP8760 / W870CU that is older than a few months old. Again the bios version is not the issue they say.... :(

    Hi,
Every time I open my display from a closed position it catches the plastic piece that sticks up and practically rips it off. Anyone having the same issue?
Anyone come up with a fix for this. Very annoying since it's no fun having to snap it back in place every time.

    Thanks

How old is your laptop? Is it still under warranty? From what I remember seeing in this thread no one has had any luck fixing it themselves. You can send it in and have Sager or your resseller fix it.

I just got my notebook back under warranty repair for this issue of trouble opening/closing notebook where it makes contact with the case. They have to replace the entire case but it works great now. I had it back in less than two weeks.

A side benefit -- the touch pad gets replaced so it's nice and clean now.

I was also very happy with the Sager support staff. I spoke to a real person and they were very flexible with my schedule demands.

Removing the keyboard is detailed in the service manual in my sig, individual button removal however I can't help you with, but usually they can be unclipped by gently levering them off with a small screwdriver or similar.

when i slapped this thing together i noticed a vent for a small fan in between the CPU and GPU fans but there's no fan there. the mounting studs are on the case as though it's for an intake fan possibly? i also see an empty fan header on the MB. what's this fan for?

    on another note...

anyone ever notice the air gap in between the CPU/GPU fans and the fan grills/case? this doesn't seem like an optimal cooling design to me. i was thinking of changing out the very restrictive grills and putting some foam around the circumference of the fans so it sits between the fans and the bottom of the case which would pull cool air from outside the case instead of warm air from the inside like it is now.

not having any cooling problems, but would like to make it more efficient if i can

The slight gap means that it pulls some warm air from inside the case, but mostly cool from outside, if you were to put foam in there you would get better cooling for your cpu/gpu, but you would lose all air circulation in the rest of the case, so any cooling for your chipset/ram/hdd/etc would be lost.

yeah, that was my only concern with pulling all the air from outside the case

still wondering about the 3rd missing fan though - don't know what it's for

Got my blu-ray player installed a couple of days ago. Ended up buying the Panasonic UJ-240A for $150 from this guy:

    eBay My World - bogielives
    Bogie Lives { Awesome deals on computer and networking accessories, parts and electronics }

Plenty of selection at what seemed like pretty damn good prices when compared to the competition. Shipped from Taiwan. Obviously had to swap the faceplates due to the shape of the w870cu one.

I think the whole unit is being phased as of Jan 6th.

The saddest part of that is now it's pretty much certain that the power play issues with the 5870 aren't going to be fixed.

Well I'm initially afraid that they were phased out because there were issues with the 470M...I'm heading home on the 29th to get the Sager, so hopefully I can run some stock benchmarks then overclock.

Not to be mean, but you did pick the worst time possible to buy. We've known Sandy Bridge was coming in January for about a year. If you had waited another month, you could have gotten newer tech, or a bigger discount. That being said, I bought mine in August, so I could have waited too. That's life.

Xotic PC states that the NP8670 is sold out pending new model, any ideas onto what it is and when we can see it in our hands. I assume it is a model with Sandy Bridge, But I have the money now and if I wait I might have something else come up and use it the money before I buy the laptop.
