**OFFICIAL W860CU/NP8690 Owners Lounge**

I feel like getting insurance for this thing lol. I just travel from home to school and back.

I love the fact that it's free from branding. It's the second Clevo I've owned and I think I love it more than my M860. I just have to install my CPU, boot it up and install W7. I'll post some benchmarks soon, I might even take up breaking 14k (Ambitious much ).

I also find it offensive because he is most likely Buddhist like I am. And I find it very odd for someone to put up an avatar and link me to leading the Clevo W860CU, which I may be getting, with me. It's either that or I'm falling for the biggest counter-sarcastic setup ever. But by me saying this now, he has the return on the status quo so he can fake it and say that it was all sarcasm, thus breaking the logical chain and leaving me "told."

So, I have like another week or so until I get my 8690, I'm still trying to figure out that lid mechanism. Is it a latch? magnet? what it be?

Just wanted to post that I'm an owner of the W860CU (820QM, etc.) as well and am exceptionally pleased with the quality of this laptop. I had asked for advice on what laptop to purchase a while ago, and decided to wait until this came out and couldn't be happier with my decision. I'm not a benchmarking type, but it is pretty awesome to see the numbers that some of you are able to get out of this machine.

Also, Soviet Sunrise, if you do end up getting this, I'd love to hear how long you can get the battery to last you. So far I've mainly been gaming/web browsing at home, but will be using it as a mobile workstation for my thesis in the near future and would love to be able to pull 2 1/2 - 3 hours on the battery. If you don't mind sharing some secrets, I'd love to hear them (fair enough if you do mind, of course).

Regardless of what notebook I will be getting, I will be stretching the battery as far as it will go. If I reach my goal of 150 minutes during light load, I will agree to share some of my tweaks with you, Stradivari. However, do note that this will be one of the last things on my to do list so I may not get back to you about in until after quite a few weeks. I too have my own obligations to tend to that requires much of my time.

 

No worries Soviet. Anytime you wish to share any of your techniques in extending battery life would be fantastic.

Just email them and ask them nicely. They respond pretty quickly in my experience, and that might get you a quicker update.

 

My paypal echeck cleared this morning, so Malibal *should* ship it this week, according to their 5-7 business day policy, but I don't know if they too were affected by the W860CU back order. I'm trying to hold back from sending an email and asking, I hate bothering them as I'm sure they get that all the time. Curiosity will probably get the better of me though if it hasn't shipped by Thursday afternoon.

I wonder.. was the backorder a Clevo issue or just a Sager one?

 

Has anyone gone from an NP8662 to the new NP8690?

I was always tempted but never saw it worth the small performance increase without a bigger GPU upgrade in place.

 

I asked them yesterday
They said sometime this week, but what worries me is someone else got their order sent to phase 2 yesterday and mine is still phase 1, while I paid with a wire transfer which they have acknowledged receiving he paid with a credit card.
If by the end of today nothing happens Ill go onto live chat and speak to joseph

Procesed my credit card yesterday and went into phase two. Just got a call from Usp at vancouver int. airport. it in and will be delivered tomorrow.

Weird, why are we the only people still on phase 1, and the people that ordered after us are on phase 2

 

My guess would be that it's dependent upon your configuration choices.. They could be awaiting a shipment of CPU's, drives, memory etc. It could just take longer for them to replace the 720QM with an 820QM than it does to just upgrade a laptop from 2GB to 4GB..

 

I order 1600x900 screen, could be the way the laptops were package to Xotic and there just going through the pallat .

 

I orderd i7 820 with 4 gigs of 1333
