No, it will work, you get PCI-e 2.0 but that wont really do anything.

From what I've read, this is usually the safest route. Make sure you do like Meaker had said, don't touch your Intel Graphics (they are your backup if anything goes wrong).

Yeah, they difference for high end desktop GPU's is something like 5% in single card configurations, and like 10% in two or three-way SLI. Definitely not worth throwing out an XM CPU for that.

Thanks for the info! Going to save some money then, by not getting a CPU with the P150EM and upgrade the 660M to a 675MX or something.

    Hey,
i hope this is the right thread for my question. The power adapter for my NP9150 died yesterday and i need a new one. I found a few on the internet but most of them have the wrong power plug. I know i need the a 5.5/2.5 plug, does anyone have any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance!

Anybody here played Evoland? Great game and I love it, but I cannot get it to run correctly. Always gives me an error message about hardware acceleration not being used. I've installed all the flash players and plugins for it but still lags like hell.

Does anyone know how I can setup NVIDIA Vision Surround with the GTX 680M? I can't seem to find the right options in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Your best bet is the reseller you bought the computer from or Sager directly. If its under 1yr old it may also be covered under warranty, contact your reseller for that.

Hi guys, for some reason i've noticed that my framerates been dropping or stuttering with the 314.22 drivers, anyone been getting that? Like in less intensive games like CSGO i get some freezes; on the 680M. Bioshock Infinite i'm unable to play smoothly unless at 720p resolution...

I'm trying iAtkos ML2 at the moment, 3630QM, GTX 675MX. I can boot the USB drive, but when I boot the installer it says "kernel_patcher.c[534]: patching 64bit xnu kernel 0.0-1888"
    And it reboots

Got the installer booting. added this to /Extra/Extensions/ StilWaiting.zip
But when the installer started the microphone where passing through the speaker creating a circle that just got louder and louder. No idea how to fix that, maybe something to do with VoodooHDA

    Got it installed and booting.
Booted the USB with -v -f UseKernelCache=No. Speakers were noisy so I plugged in headset and will fix that later.
Boot now with -V -X either GPU or ethernet messing up so I need safe mode

I got my Sager NP9150 about six weeks ago. Still transferring stuff from my old laptop. So far, I like it. When I saw this site, I thought I'd like to have some contact with other owners.

My one complaint is that the beautiful hi-res screen makes print a bit small for my eyes, especially at the end of the day. My solution has been a 25 inch Asus monitor as my screen at my home workstation. Same resolution, bigger type. I also added my standard fave keyboard, the Logitech wired illuminated. It's got great touch. Having an illuminated keyboard with just the laptop though is wonderful.

With 32gb and the i73840, I've got plenty of power to run several business apps and still have 8 small gamebots running in the background.

Dang, I'm going to have to figure out a sig line for here - GoManVanGogh

I've got a 256 gig crucial m4 msata SSD in my np9150. I'm only getting about 270 mbs read and about 230 mbs writes. Is this because of the slower sata speed on the port?

The ODD caddy uses SATAII, you might try moving it to the main HDD port which is SATAIII.

Edit: I just noticed you said msata. I think the dedicated msata port on the NP9150 is limited to SataII speeds.

What smellon mentioned is probalby the cause for the lower speeds. If you have the SSD in the primary bay already you can make sure to change the BIOS setting for the SATA port to ACHI instead of IDE.

Writes are a tad low but yes 300mb/sec is the max theoretical speed and then it has 10% overheads.

I have a couple questions. I believe this is the correct thread but please let me know if it's not.

I have a Sager P150EM from Xotic with: Radeon HD 7970M, Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor, 8GB memory. Currently running 13.1 drivers.

My GPU temperatures are around 100C when running games, 60C idle. Is this normal?
I ran 3DMark11 and I get 3630 for graphic score, 7034 physics and 5327 combined. Is this what I should expect?
3DMark11 report said Core clock=300 MHz, Memory clock=150 MHz but when I run MSI Afterburner it reports it as 850Mhz core 1200Mhz memory which I believe is the correct. Does this sound normal?
Also, in the Processor section I get this: Physical / logical processors: 1 / 8. Shouldn't it use all 8 cores?

Last thing, when people say "30% GPU utilization" what does that mean and how can I measure that myself?

Your GPU score is very low, should be at least around 6000 IIRC, GPU usage can be monitored in GPU-Z under the sensors tab, it will give it to you in a %.

You have 1 CPU with 4 cores which can each run 2 threads meaning your CPU can execute 8 threads at once so 1 physical CPU acts as 8 logical ones ;)

Why could my GPU score be that low, what can I do about it?

    I got GPU-Z:
    GPU Core: 300Mhz
    GPU Memory: 150Mhz
    GPU Temp: 62C
    Fan Speed%: blank
    Fan speed RPM: blank

I don't see utilization. Also it's reporting the Core and Memory speeds as low. How can I fix this?

edit: If I actually run a game and check GPU-Z I get correct Core and Memory speeds, as well as Temp reading. :) But no GPU utilization.

    TIA

If you are hitting 90C plus you need to get some dust off and dust off the hell out of your rear fans and under it. Shoot into each little hole in the vent, they get different areas.

I would hit 90C and up to 93C sometimes and then I would use dust off and then my max would be 80C. I live in a hot area also.

I've had this beast for about 8 months so this is from experience. Every time it gets hot just use dust off lol. Do it at least 1 time per month. Try for 2 if you have a dusty room (i do it every week because I have 3 dogs that sleep with me).

Thanks. After dusting off I'm still in the 90's but it doesn't go past 100.

I got 3Dmark06 to test as I've read some people say it's more accurate than 3DMark11 but it only sees my Intel GPU, doesn't see the 7970m. Anyone have any tips on how to change it? I have it as high performance in CCC but that doesn't help.

That does seem problematic. How hot is your room?? You definitely don't want to go above 100. After 100C it gets to the point where it can start melting the chip itself, and really it should not go above the 80's even in hot areas.

Hold the Fn Key and press 1.
    Turns on turbo fan.

And try to elevate the laptop, leaving it on a flat surface is bad for cooling.

Here is my 3dmark11 score on just a slight overclock

    AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P7345 3DMarks

Also to comment on your saying that 3dmark11 only sees your intel card is a false reading. In order for it to read correctly you'll have to open a game and minimize it and then run the benchmark. In my test I opened Starcraft 2 and made sure it was listed as running in Performance on CCC and then ran the benchmark.

Enduro is a pain in the rear.

Hi all I guess this has been asked a number of times already but here goes ;)

Obviously the sound on the P150em is terrible, both speakers and through decent headphones. My Dell XPS left the P150 for dead..... chalk and cheese!!!!

My question is this: Is the sound card on the mobo or is it separate? I am guessing on board and unable to be changed but figured I would still ask.

Also, has any one used the sound card that plugs into the card reader, if so, any good?

    Cheers!

Built onto the board unfortunately. Not able to be upgraded but USB audio solutions work wonders if it's a concern. Haven't heard of the memory slot Sound though, shoot a link over, I'd be interested in seeing that.

@micahmatthew: I don't know the temp of my room. Average NY apartment, it's not warm here yet so probably mid 60's tops.

@scriz:Thanks for giving me a comparison. Mark11 runs fine, but Mark06 doesn't. I did as you suggested and the results show that it used the ATI card: AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: 18804 3DMarks
    (SM2.0 Score 6972 HDR/SM3.0 Score 8793 CPU Score 5973 Score: 18804

I've ran 3DMark11 a few times and with every time I run it I get a better score. :/ This is my latest and best one: AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P6052 3DMarks
(Graphics Score 5870 Physics Score 7747 Combined Score 5531) So my results are not very consistent.

Thanks for the advice everyone. The machine should still be under warranty and if it's getting hot enough to melt chips then it's out of my hands. I have email Xotic support about this and we'll see how it goes.

Thank Derek. Eric F has already responded to me and asked me to open the laptop and clean it out, confirm fans are working properly, etc. I haven't done that because I didn't want to void the warranty.
I assume I can go ahead. I'll do the needful and report back. ;)

Yeah, definitely fine. Sager doesn't get all upset with opening up the laptop like other manufacturers might, and especially since Eric is telling you to do so as part of our service team here.

What was nice was the PCMCIA slot versions had an EMU processor in them, they were not software based like the pciexpresscard versions.
