how did you manage that? did you have to mod the vBios on the card?

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes it's running at a higher voltage. Still keeps below throttle during crysis 3 however
-
still don't know why everyone is having to OC for crysis 3. I maxed all settings but antialiasing and even had that enabled some and I was getting great FPS on my playthrough.
What clocks/voltage are you running at stable? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
1.0125v core, 1.5v mem 1033mhz core, 2650mhz ram.

I've installed windows 7 professional x64. At first I've downloaded it via SDM. It was being glitchy. I've heard people say that it does turn out glitchy when you download it through SDM. So I've downloaded it directly from Microsoft website and now it works good, without any problems so far. I do have a windows 7 key that I've purchased through my school.
Even though the systems works pretty well, I did run into a few minor issues. I wanted to see if others have experienced them and maybe there is a way to resolve them.
1) The power button. Here's the thing. When I shut down the notebook completely I have to press the power button repeatedly up to 10 times untill the laptop powers on. I thought maybe it was an issue with the button itself? But this only happens when the computer is not charging (unplugged). Wheneven I plug it in the power outlet it turns on like a charm after I press the power button just once. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a solution?
2) Fn key. Whenever I turn the backlit light for the keyword, the Fn light brightness is much lower than of the other keys. It's almost off completely. You can slightly see it in the dark. And this happens with all the colors. Is there a way to fix this. It's pretty minor but still.
3) Brightness and backlit keyboard light. So the settings that I set up for the brightness and the keyboard, they get switched to defaults sometimes for no apparent reason. So I have to set them back up. Has this happened to anyone?
Also another thing with the backlit keyboard, is that sometimes after a reboot, I can't get the menu to control it to pop up? Really irritating. Like I have to reboot again. Is it a driver ?
4) Video card. This is not really an issue. I just need someone to explain this to me. So the laptop has 2 cards. Integrated one and installed one. I've installed drives for both. And when I go to device manager it shows both of them. Both of them are working properly. Or so it says in the device manager. Are they working simultaneously? Or does the good one kick in when needed? Do I need to disable the integrated one? Slightly confused here
I know this is long, but help would be really appreciated.
Love to be a part of the sager community now! -
Congrats with the new laptop, glad u are enjoying it. Not sure about all your questions but I can help with 2.
1) think it is designed this way to stop you accidentally turning it on when running on batts. Think you'll find a long press will turn it on.
4) you do indeed have two graphics cards. One being the Intel hd4000, which is part of the processor. The other being the 670m. The hd4000 is supposed to handle all the light work whilst the 670m kicks in for the more intensive tasks.
I actually have a 7970m so not sure exactly how the 670m works. But I would guess you have to configure the 670m on when to kick in for example when out its plugged in our runs a particular application. This is fine on the 7970m by entering ccc or right clicking on the desktop and selecting 'configure switchable graphics' or something. I'm sure if you open nvidia's control panel you'll be able to figure it out.
Good luck

Yes they both work functionally the same way with the hd4000 passing the difficult rendering to the dedicated chip to render and send to the buffer of the hd4000 for it to output (hence the hd4000 controls the display outputs for better or worse).

So do any of you know where i can fix a sager in canada?
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The best place will be to always contact your reseller directly, but if you wanted a Canadian based company you could shoot Relexnotebook a message. -
Well i bought it from xoticpc when i was in America and im not sure if i want to wait a long time to get it fixed by them.Does sager not have a location in Canada that will fix it?
-
Great! I am glad the power button option was not actually a defect but a system design. Thanks
Does anyone know how to resolve issue 2 and 3? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Nope, they are solely based in City of Industry, California. Shouldn't be too long of a wait though, typically about 1.5-2 weeks which is fairly standard for warranty work. -
2.) unfortunately this is a design flaw of the keyboard itself. many of the keys do in fact vary in transparency making for an uneven backlight regardless of color/s used.
3.) what version of hotkey are you running? if you're still on W7 you should be running ver. 6.0100, which can be downloaded here. on W8 i'm running ver. 8.0100, but i have noticed minor keystroke glitches in both versions. sometimes i have to push the dashboard 'fn'-key combination more than once to get it to launch. as far as having your scheme fail to load goes, updating your version or wiping clean and reinstalling the utility should resolve the issue. i've never experienced that myself. in fact, the W8 version actually loads my scheme at POST rather than defaulting to the blue backlight till windows boots.
4.) just to build on radmarsh's and Meaker's pretty thorough replies, you have what's called a switchable graphics setup--meaning that the integrated graphics are enabled by default to conserve battery until the superior processing power of the discrete nvidia card is needed. (nvidia switchable graphics are called optimus setups whereas the AMD counterparts are known as enduro.) when running graphics-intensive programs, like 3D games for example, the dGPU is triggered and "turns on" to give you that increased processing capability. this necessarily consumes more power and so gaming should always be done while plugged in and with the appropriate power plan selected. if you notice that your games are running slower than you'd expect, you should verify that the nvidia card is being used. if it's not, you can manually select which programs "trigger" the card from the nvidia control panel utility. it should be noted (as meaker does) that the nvidia card is "fed through" the integrated graphics processor, so none of the display outputs come from the nvidia card directly. this affects the number of external monitors you can drive simultaneously, which is limited to two total at any given time including the laptop's panel. -
Damn, dont feel like waiting that long. I guess ill just bring it to a guy to fix it for about 100-150 dollars
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Yeah, if you're not willing to do without for a bit then that's going to be the best option for you. -
Thanks mattcheau for an in depth explanation.
Still getting to know my sager. The finger print option is real cool. "KeepSafe" folder, is a secret folder created so you can only access it with your finger print? Correct? Now hypothetically speaking, if the laptop gets stolen - how hard is it to hack that folder?
A question about the screen. My understanding it's an LED screen. What is the material on the outside covering it made of? The reason I am asking is because when I turn of the screen and look at it at an angle, letting the light reflection fall on it, the screen is not perfectly flat and even but slightly wavy. Is that normal? Again, this is when the screen is turned off.
Sound. I know there is a sub woofer underneath the laptop. Is it turned on by default? I cant really hear it. I know some people on here been buying an usb attachable sound card. Is it worth it?
Thanks -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The sub isn't going to be noticeable. If you go into the THX settings you can adjust bass levels but it's not going to get the boom you're looking for. It's just going to fill in the bass tones so the sound doesn't feel completely hollow. For the best audio using an external USB sound device and external speakers/headphones is the best route. -
Does anybody have the stealth modification modification? I ordered that and I just want to know if it is good looking and good?

It's my favorite external mod we offer, I think it takes the looks of the machine to a whole new level and makes it look pretty subdued for the power the machines have. I think you'll like it. -
i just ordered an ssd from newegg, and i want to set it up as optimally as i can, what should i do?
the HDD slot uses sata3 and i should move the ssd there i heard, does that mean i should move the HDD to the optical bay slot?
i need all the help i can get! -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Yes thats exactly right, sounds like you know what you're doing. To mount the HDD in the optical bay you will need to get a caddy, any 12.7mm SATA connection will work.
-
so i cant put the HDD in the optical bay without the caddy? .. damn it looks like i need to get something else ontop of the ssd now
-
The caddies are purdy cheap
$10-15 on amazon or eBay. Just pop the bezel off your current optical drive and snap it on the caddy.

Just wanted to follow up on my issues with high temperatures. I opened the laptop, cleaned up the heatsinks, removed the fans and cleaned them out. I'm now getting properly low temperatures, usually under 80c.
While I get slightly lower Mark11 scores than some people, I found out the laptop runs most games at max settings just fine. I was not aware because the only game I run on it is Diablo 3. If I run D3 at 1920x1080 it's not super smooth and still gets pretty hot. Over 90C but unless I'm getting into the 100's I'm happy.
Thanks for the help everyone. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Good to hear!
90c is still a little hot for D3 in my opinion but it's been a while since I saw temps reported for that in game on your setup, but yeah you're still fine in the 90s. Just be sure to keep an eye on those temps. -
You might setting a max fps in the options menu. For some reason D3 (like a lot of games) seems to constantly try to push as many fps as possible but somehow generates a lot of unnecessary heat.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Good point there, could also try enabling Vsync to lock into 60fps which is plenty for D3. -
I have had my laptop for almost a month now and im loving it.
My only question is it normal that the fan on the left side is louder then the fan on the right. I can hear my left fan going but can never hear my fan on the right side unless i put my fans on max. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Yeah, the fans don't ramp up if they don't need to and there are two fans in the system. If I remember right the fan on the left is the CPU and the right GPU, although I might have that reversed. -
The one on the left seems to be pushing more air out even under normal conditions. is that normal. like i can hear my left fan going but can never hear the right fan. -
under "normal conditions" the dGPU probably isn't running, but your CPU is however.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes, optimus and enduro allow the dGPU to totally shut down
-
Optimus "allow" my dGPU (gtx 675mx) to NOT reconize my 3d tv (sony hx755)...
-
What do you mean? It shouldn't matter.
I haven't had any trouble connecting to random TV's on campus. -
matter if u want to watch 3d movies or play a game in 3d ...
-
What port are you using? I think 3d requires HDMI.
Also you may need the 3d Vision kit, as well as to enable it through the Nvidia 3d vision application.
If you could give us some more info, we might be able to figure it out. -
So, i finnaly went ahead and bought this laptop!
if im lucky i might have it saturday, but it will most likely be monday.
Specs:
Standard matte screen
i7-3630qm
Gtx675mx
16gb ram
Windows 8 64bit
Samsung 840 250gb ssd
I went with the gtx675mx instead of the hd7970m because it was cheaper for me, and i know the hd7970m still have some problems, even though people say many of them have been fixed, but i dont want to mess to much with drivers and such, and i diden't have the money for the 680m so i went with this instead.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Congrats on the purchase! The 7970 issues are pretty much resolved but time to time we run across somebody who has to mess with it a fair amount get fully working, Should be happy with the 675mx for now though and possibly upgrade to a 7xx in the future! -
Thanks
I might upgrade it in the furture to at 7xx card, or i will sell it
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Sounds like a plan! -
Cool, is there any information that the 700 series will fit like the 600? if so I bought an even better gaming laptop. Running GTX 675MX @ Core: 849MHz Memory: 1890MHz at stock voltage and tuning it even more. Haven't reached 90 Celsius either
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Should have the same MXM-B slot but compatibility will be at the discretion of the machine manufacturers. The current 9xxx models shouldn't have a problem with the 700 series GPUs though. -
Hi Smellon,
Yes i am using hdmi port with the correct cable.
Nvidia has a software called 3dtv play that enables you connect your 3d tv via hdmi port and use it as a display along with the glasses of own 3d tv...
Due to a problem with the Nvidia Optimus, system whose function is to make your laptop battery last longer (that Optimus does very well) hdmi port appears to be linked in integrated card not allowing my dedicated card to recognize my 3d tv...
I can see 3d movies (mkv files) but I can only play them with Media Player Classic and pressing the button 3D of my 3d tv. With 3dtv play, the signal was recognized by the 3d tv and changed to 3D automatically and thus the quality of the 3D is better.
I also managed to play some games in 3D using TriDef software, but the games were not very well configured and the 3d was not very good...
Thats sad!
Thanks for the concern smellon!

OK so I have been using my new Metabox Clevo P150EM for about 2 weeks now.
I love the SSD!!
I love 16 GB of ram
I love the screen. AWESOME.
The sound quality is bloody terrible
The backlit keyboard software and reliability of the functions is less than par....which brings me to a question.
I have the latest software installed for the backlit keyboard but it has a few issues, firstly it doesn't remember if I had it off or on and always starts in the on setting. Is there actually a setting to choose whether the backlight is on or off on as a default? When I do want to switch from on to off, it often takes 2 attempts before it will turn the backlight off.
Anyone else experiencing similar things? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
When you say it does not remember its on or off is that when windows loads as the machine starts up with a default set of parameters the program does not touch IIRC.
-
Well each time the computer starts or comes out of standby or hibernation the darn keyboard lights are always on even if they were set to off when I closed the lid or shutdown. Then I have to turn them off twice for them to actually turn off.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I think thats default until the software loads IIRC, I take it the colour is also only blue.
