Hi. New P150EM owner here. Got mine with 16GB, 3630QM and 7970M. I took out the 750GB spinner and replaced it with a 500GB Samsung 840 500GB SSD and a Win 7 fresh install. I love the laptop, no issues so far. If it wasn't for the pain in the called Enduro I would call this a perfect machine. If I could change just one thing it would be to have the 7970M running constantly and for the Intel graphics just to vanish. My laptop is seldom unplugged.
But still, I really like this computer and have no regrets, especially when taking cost into account.

Hi Meaker Is this using nvidia inspector, msi afterburner and the like? and I assume this isnt the case with other vbios's available (non voltage modifying ones) that remove the 135mhz limit? this is more for future reference than anything else.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes unlocked bios files now also remove that bouncing and extend the slider.
-
Many thanks Meaker, hopefully something I wont need to do for a while, more for when the 680m starts to show its age but done quite a bit of reading and saved a ton of links for more and seems this card is very OC friendly, i'll let others test waters and longevity first though as i'm complete noob to overclocking.

Ok I am having a pretty annoying problem curious if anyone has a fix for it.
I am trying to run my Steam games but games like The Witcher 2 (Which I am trying to run in Ultra) are launched through Launchers and the Launcher and Game.exe I've put into the Nvidia Control Panel and specified to use the Dedicated GPU however when I go to options and hit Auto-detect the best graphical settings it goes right to Low Settings which to me is telling me it is still prioritizing the integrated gpu.
I can't find a single google post that seems to help resolve this on steam. Anyone have a viable work-around? -
My 7970m does the same. I just manually turn it up.

For some reason my back-light feature on my keyboard stopped working a while back. It always stays blue now, and I can turn it on/off and regulate the brightness, but I can't open the software that should let me change colors through the Ctrl+/....idk what to do- before that the far right section of the backlight would activate yellow with blue, and it would shine a nice green. This was a malfunction that I fixed when I messed around with the left wiring under the keyboard, but I do not know what to do about the backlight app not showing up when I prompt it. Is there any other way I can open it?
Thanks. -
I think I fixed this and got it running on the dedicated GPU as the game is running at a solid 60 frames in ultra however its running the GPU at 99% all the time is something wrong here?
I think I have the proof I need to know its running on the Dedicated GPU just by seeing the temps spike up on the 680M and the FPS ingame however I'm concerned at the GPU running pinned at 99% is this a problem? -
Think you might know the name of the software that controls the backlight feature? Mine doesn't open when it needs to open.
-
the hotkey software controls the backlight
-
Edit: Never mind, I found it.
-
I think i resolved this many people on forums saying that the tutorial area really pressures the GPU that it should idle down after im out of the Tutorial area...ill see shortly.
-
I know, I installed the latest drivers from the Sager website, but it still doesn't work... Every other hotkey does though, so I don't know what's going on.
-
Can anyone tell me how to use a plugged in microphone instead of the integrated one. Im trying to use the apple iPhone earbuds (3 rings on connector, 2 for headphones+ mic), but it seems to always go to the default mic. Which slot do I use? The Realtek audio manager recognizes that something is plugged in, but nothing pops up under the windows "microphone line in".
thanks -
A new model, I believe, is on its way, and I view it as an improvement over the current P150EM. I would wait for it.

Having heck of a time with Optimus and onboard Intel video.
Whole bunch of games (especially Steam) won't start because D3D won't initialize (fail to create device, etc.) Used the nVidia utility to force the applications to use the 670mx. No help. Is there a way to completely bypass the Intel HD 4000, and only use discrete GPU the entire time?
This is a game killer, on otherwise a great experience with the new machine so far.
**************EDIT**************
Found the culprit. DisplayLink (USB video adapter for external monitors) does not play well with Intel HD 4000 / nVidia 670mx combo. It was working fine for a few days, then everything stopped working. Removed the driver/software, and everything is working fine. Below is my set up. I will be transferring one of the monitors back to my old NP9280, which has become my secondary rig (i.e. media server, etc.) Still a great warhorse, with desktop CPU, 3 hard drives, etc. Just very old GPU and physical wear and tear.

Not with a clevo. Need a MUX cable like the alienware's then it can be bypassed.

You may try running a program such as GPU-Z then opening Steam (then using Steam to launch whatever game). GPU-Z polls the discrete card to get temperature and such which may let Steam decide to use it instead of the HD4000.
Also in the Nvidia Control Panel, under Manage 3D Settings, go to Global settings. Under Preferred graphics processor try selecting the Nvidia card. -
Was dealing with Optimus too - Tip:
To make it work with Steam games you need to:
Go to the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, Program Settings Tab
Hit Add
Go to your Steam folder > Steam Apps > Common > *Whatever Game you want to run with Dedicated Graphics* > Then find the .exe file it's either in the main game folder or in *bin* folder. Add that .exe. Then switch "Choose Graphics" to "Use Higher End Nvidia Graphics Card"
I do this with both launcher.exe and game.exe files and it works flawlessly for me now. Just a pain in the to route around. -
hi, i am new in here and i have several question
is there any way to turn off enduro? i have a new sager 9150 powered by HD7970 since 3 days ago, and it makes me crazy because i can't play dota 2. I dunno why, but when I entered menu, i can't do anything. cursor is working but when i click some option. the menu didn't pop out, i have to do some alt-tab things to see the pop out menu
I assume it maybe came from enduro things
any idea what should i have to do?
ps. i am also having problems with game like Point blank
-----------
after i switch dota.exe graphic setting to Power saving, the game runs smoothly, but when i choose back to high performance. game runs lag like a hell! -

Hi Kaframaster, welcome to NBR!
Unfortueantly no you are not able to turn off Enduro/Optimus on Sager/Clevo computers. No computers will let you do it except for some Alienware as they have Mux built it. -
hi
do you have suggestion to fix this annoying problem? i am currently running using intel HD driver 15.31.3.64.3071 and AMD Catalyst 13.6 Mobility Beta -
I was having some similar issues with the same driver set up. Revert your intel drivers to the previous and you will be good. 3071 bad, you want 2932.
:edit: I've also reverted back to 13.4 because 13.6 was giving me issues with Quake and Batman AA. -
HI,
I have a problem, it seems my audio has stopped working after changing my cmos. I tested the speakers with a multimeter and they are in working condition. I reinstalled windows even after trying many drivers. There never seems to be any problems with any drivers. Windows reports no problems whatsoever. Speaker volume is full, and the headphone jack works properly. The default input is set to speakers as well. Can anyone help me find whats wrong?
Drivers are the regular realtek that come with clevo p150em. I even tried testing with a live cd ubuntu 12.04. It reports no problems with audio but there's not a sound. Nothing from the subwoofer underneath the laptop either.
Edit: Tested the top speakers under the grill of any voltage input. There's none coming from the mobo. However, if the turn of the mobo and test the speakers separately they seem to work. -
I have the special edition (680m), and since day 1 every single game that I've tried playing has crashed within a half hour. Some show a "display driver has crashed but has successfully recovered" message at the bottom right, and some just lock up. When they lock up, I can usually just hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and all of a sudden they come back, but they freeze again shortly after. I RMA'd it to XoticPC a week or so ago and just received it again today and it's doing the same thing. Has anyone ever heard of this? It's driving me mad, all I want to do is play games without having them crash every 5 minutes.

I've had that happen to my desktop and you're not the first person to report the same thing. Are you using the stock drivers from Sager or updated ones from Nvidia. Some just are more stable then others. Try them both and see if it goes away.
-
Sadly I've tried many different drivers. I started with the stock, tried multiple Nvidia drivers from the newest to old builds lots considered stable. Then I tried a fresh install with the stock again, didn't work. So I RMA'd it, got it back yesterday, still with stock everything, and the problem still persists. It's been months now and I still can't play a single game, it's becoming beyond frustrating. I took multiple videos of the issue too for reference.
-
Looking at getting the P150EM, or equivalent when new series come out shortly.
Is the 7970m still a viable option?
Also, are these things heavy? I'm more of a sofa/bed gamer
-
No, they aren't too heavy at all. Plus they're symmetrical so it's comfortable on your lap.
The 7970M may require some work, I'd recommend staying with 13.4 drivers, since a lot of people seem to be having trouble with 13.6. -
Just checked my old M15x was just shy of 10lb.
So this might not be so much of a problem as I first thought.
680m is too expensive for me really. I feel the 675GTX might not be comparable to the 7970m in terms of performance. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
7970 likely won't be, but with the new versions coming out it's a safe bet it'll be offered. Machines weigh in right under 7lbs with the battery. -

When I was having problems with my desktop it would be just random and i could not find any specific fix for it. It would happen just at random times too. I never changed hardware since it wasnt a hardware issue, rather a driver (software) issue. Over time it just stopped doing it, its probably been a year or more since I've seen it. Unfortunately I dont have a specific fix for it. I am on the latest drivers from Nvidia currently. -
Thanks but I'm not quite sure we're talking about the same issue. Mine is not random, from day 1 I have not played a game for more than 10 minutes without it crashing. I can change drivers, settings, etc. and every time the result is the same, a freeze that requires a termination from the task manager or an outright crash. It has happened for every single game I have tried on my machine. Civ 5, FC3: Blood Dragon, Red Orchestra 2, Chivalry, FIFA 13, etc. They all do it. So I'm confused, how can I get my laptop back from an RMA to fix this only to have the same issue again out of the box? I'd imagine I'd have to send it out again now but then what would they be doing now? I ordered my this PC in the middle of March and it's almost June and I haven't been able to use my laptop yet once... I'm livid.
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
It may be something that needs to be sent in to get looked at again. I know thats not the ideal solution. What I would suggest is replying to the latest email you've gotten from our service dept and let them know you're still having the problem and they can set up another RMA. You can also call our 24/7 phone tech support which the number is listed on our site under "contact" they may have some ideas to walk you through as well.
-
I've spent a few hours with tech support though and nothing they suggested worked. I contacted my RMA rep yesterday and he has yet to get back to me.
Thanks for your suggestions though. -
That's pretty much what happened to my older laptop - NP9280 with nVidia 285m. Tried different drivers, going all the way back to the included CD. Tried fresh install of Windows 7. Even tried installing a GPU replacement. Just about every gaming session, I knew there was going to be a crash. YouTube and Netflix, at least one crash a day. Figured it was probably heat damage, considering I used to run the GPU up to 107'C around the time trouble started... or that it's such an old card, nVidia doesn't care to support it anymore.
It's unsettling to hear that it's happening to a newer model.
-
Very comfortable for general sofa/bed computing. And light for travel use. However, if you're going to game, you probably want to put something underneath it to shield you from heat. The rear vent works strong, and the hot air flows right over your lap (I'm amazed how cool it keeps the components, compared to my prior machine.) Also, you don't want your lap surface blocking the bottom air intake grill.
-

You're very welcome. Our service dept will get back to you soon. -

Good Advice. Also the intake vents are on the bottom so you dont want to block those or will get overheating issues. -
hi, i took your advice, and the game is working smoothly for a while
then suddenly, i got a BSOD, darn! this problem really drives me crazy
I attached my dump file, maybe you guys can help me?

Did you revert both the Intel and dgpu drivers to the previous stable, or just the Intel?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -
i did both
revert back to ur advice - got BSOD after having a game for minutes
revert back to stock driver - program exits itself after having a game for minutes
revert back to latest driver - program gets lag if I use high performance mode
jeez, should I RMA this and replace with Nvidia's? i have spent my whole money and didn't expect for this

Hi to everyone. Does anyone know anything about the mSata SSD Samsung PM841 pro¿? Is the one that came with my XMG P502Pro, but all the info I could find on the samsung website was that is "consumer sample" item, and does not give any other info, about firmware (or its updates) or stuff like that.
Also, about the subwoofer under the laptop, I know there is not much to do, but is there a way for the subwoofer to work, even a little bit? Looked at the posts about the THX Software, where it says to set it up to 200hz or smth like that, but I just can adjust the sliders for sound, cristality, dialogs and surround. Any ideas on this¿
Thank you very much,
Paco Gámiz (Greetings from Castelldefels, Barcelona)
EDIT: by the awy, the Samsung Magician app doesn't detect the SSD as a samsung one, can't do anything with it!!
And also, any possible way to OC the CPU & GPU? core i7 3740qm and amd 7970m
Thanks! -
I don't think you need to RMA. Only make a really clean driver install. Means deinstall the Intel HD drivers, then deinstall the radeon drivers, use driver fusion for cleaning (amd and intel graphic). Then reboot and install the 15.28.13.2963 Intel HD driver and the Radeon driver of your choice lastly.
-
The exact process I go through for driver updates is this: Uninstall Intel HD drivers. Reboot. Uninstall AMD drivers, express remove everything. Reboot. Install 2932 Intel HD drivers. Reboot. Install your choice of AMD drivers (I'm sticking with 13.4 for now) and reboot.
That has never failed me. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You should be fine just putting them over the top, the above sounds like more of a recovery technique.
-
If I go over the top, it installs the driver but I lose CCC and can't set programs to high performance. Just my experience though.

That is bizarre, maybe try with the next one and see if it does the same.
-
Yeah worth a shot at least. It did it on my old Asus as well. Maybe I'm just unlucky!
