I haven't tried it personally but you could use the ArmorAll wipe stuff designed for detailing car dashes. Give it a nice sheen and definitely won't be abrasive.

Multi Purpose screen wipes are fine, remove greasy fingerprints without any damage. I use Script brand and once a week give the entire laptop a rubdown

Quick question - if I went for the stock wireless card, which driver do i install - the realtek 8188ce combo driver, or the realtek 8723AE combo driver? thanks

EDIT: nvm, found that device manager lists it as 8723ae

Are the P150SM/157SM GPU and CPU heatsinks compatible with the 150EM? And if so, do they give a worthwhile drop in temps?

Hey guys i was wondering what sort of temps those of you with overclocked 7970m's get, I'm a bit worried that mine gets to hot when I game as it sometimes goes up to around 90 degrees with an overclock of 980 on the core and 1450 on the memory, having said this when I benchmark my gpu in Kombuster on high performance the temps don't go above 76 degrees, I thought it may have something to do with the cpu getting hot and adding to the temps in the case but when I run 3d mark 11 with the overclock it doesn't go above 80 degrees, really confused with these temps as I thought benchmarking would stress my gpu the most rather than in game where the utilisation can fluctuate

Kombuster is throttled by amd and nvidia while 3dmark is just a short burst of activity which is why games wilk run hotter. You can try a repaste if you are concerned.

That makes sense I guess, I repasted my gpu before I overclocked which seemed to help bring down temps in Kombuster at stock although I have no idea what sort of temps I was getting in games as I never measured it before but I can only assume it was running pretty hot before I overclocked it, will have a go at repasting again using a bead instead of a line of paste, I have a feeling I put too much on last time, thanks

The only way besides contacting Sager directly would be to source the part from a system builder rather than a reseller. When you contacted Sager, did you go through their techsupport contact info or the general line?

I sent a mail to this address: [email protected]
What do you mean with a system builder?

Go ahead and email [email protected] and they should be able to get you taken care of. System builders refers to Clevo builders rather than resellers of Sager products. System builders will have parts in their facility to sell rather than Sager resellers as the machines are still built by Sager and the individual resellers don't keep inventory of those replacement parts.

so i will be a proud first time owner of a ssd (samsung 840 non-pro 250gb) and will be replacing my optical drive with it. i've never done this operation before and am wondering if there are any videos or threads regarding this

i'm also going to repaste my gpu and i'm wondering if the foil tape mod is still relevant. if not, are there other ways to keep the temps down? laptop cooling pad?

Congrats on upgrading to an SSD, if this is your first one its gonna blow your mind how much faster they are.
You will want to put the SSD in the primary hard drive bay and move your HDD over to the optical bay. The optical bay is SATA II so you wont get the full speeds of the SSD however the regualr hard drive bay is SATA III so you will. You wont take any speed hits with the HDD in a SATA II port since that can transfer as fast as the hard drive can. You will also need a hard drive mounting caddy to make it fit if you havent already got one.

It does scale very similarly to the 770M, which is not that surprising I guess.

    HI All,

When my computer resumes it takes a while, sometimes 30+ seconds. Is this to be expected, I thought it would have been quicker than that.

Also, on start up, the bios flash screen shows for about 15 seconds before even going to the windows loading screen, is this normal too?

    Many thanks

I believe all you'll need is ThrottleStop.

You could download Prema's BIOS and XTU as well.

Are you running a clean install of Windows or are there a lot of Start-up programs?

Also, do you have Samsung SSD Magician downloaded and installed? You can optimize your SSD with that as well as run benchmarks to make sure the problem is not your SSD.

Make sure you check it is working with the old CPU, if it is try resetting the CMOS with the 3920XM and yes check the bios update thread for the latest version.

Hey guys I'm having a problem keeping my cpu overclocked, I recently flashed a new bios to my machine and use xtu to overclock my cpu, I've used exactly the same settings I used before and applied and saved the settings but every couple of restarts my cpu speeds go back to standard and I have to push them back up again, the other settings I've changed such as turbo max power wattage stays the same, my processor is a 3720qm

No, sager/clevo machines need sager/clevo cards due to the slightly different EC setup they have.

Your Overclock could just be a little too high for stability so it goes down to normal speed that it can support. Try changing your settings to just a little bit lower then what you are now.

Na I'm sure it's not too high I have it set at 3.8ghz on 4 cores which coincides with other people say is safe for a 3720qm, plus it's been overclocked for around a year with no problems before this only after I flashed the new bios did the settings start not saving, I think I know what it anyway. My problems seem to be similar to this thread : Intel XTU Settings Issue which seems right as I noticed my laptop goes into hibernation when I leave it on for a while and the settings seem to be lost when I come out of it, I've now turned intel rapid start off and the settings seems to be saving properly now.

    Hi Guys,
I'm planning to update my laptop. Now CPU is Intel i7-3740QM and video card is Nvidia GTX 670MX 3Gb.
I would like to change the CPU to Intel i7-3940XM.
What do you think, is it justified?
And I would like to change the video card to AMD 8970M.

What type of perforamnce gain are you after. If its for gaming, you wont see much increase when putting a new CPU in there as gaming is primarily based on the video card. So getting a better video card is going to be more beneficial to you. I dont think the 8970M will work though, the 7970M will.

Thanks! What do you think about performance of i7-3940XM compared current i7-3740QM? My default tasks are programming (Windows/Windows Phone: Visual Studio, SQL, etc.), using virtual machines with different configs for testing (VMware, VirtualBox).

Sounds like you would benefit from a CPU and GPU upgrade depending on which of those your using. I know Visual Studio and SQL supports CUDA which is using the Nvidia GPU for processing instead of the CPU, CUDA is Nvidia specific so you wont want to change to AMD. Virtual machines can also benefit from more RAM depending on how many you have running and how much RAM you have allocated to each one.

Does somebody have got problems with touchpad?
I have got a problem with my laptop: touchpad does not work properly. Buttons work well, but pointer doesn’t move when I move finger across the sensor space.
I have tried ALL methods: re-installing OS, re-installing last driver and driver from Sager web site, checking it in recovery mode.
    Any suggestions?

Hey guys, Im currently rolling the clevo p150em with the GTX 670M and heading to taiwan on sept 20 (tomorrow) for a month I was wondering if it would be worth grabbing a new gpu while over there, if so what should i go for, and are there any suggestions on where i could pick one up (skipping overseas shipping costs and all that), finally, what specs should i be aware of to make sure of compatibility?
    Much thanks guys

Not a whole lot you can upgrade to. If you can get a 680M that is compatible its the top GPU the p150em will support.

    Hello everybody.
I just got my laptop back from change of motherboard, since the last one was fried.
But now everything just freezes, so I thought that the best thing must be a completely new slate. But when I looked at my components I see that I now have a clevo P151EMx motherboard (chipset Intel HM77).
    Is this what everybody have?

I know there isn't much difference between a 675mx and 670mx, but there is a pretty significant difference between a 675mx and a 670M, no?
