thanks a ton, any certain RAM sticks people usually prefer or recommend? I guess I should ask where I could find processor upgrades for my np9150 as well? I have the i7-3630QM.

    Greatly appreciate the help.

Basically just searching around online. Sager themselves tend to prefer Samsung/Patriot RAM for what they use on their builds but there are a lot of options out there.

Any higher 3xxx CPU will work, they are all partially unlocked so can be overclocked to some extent (if you unlock your system bios with a prema bios). The XM are entirely unlocked.

I spilled beer on my 9150.. The beer went in between the keyboard and the speaker bezel. The screen went black, and the computer started bleeping loudly (like when it gets low on battery). I unplugged it as fast as I could and took out the battery but obviously, the damage was done.

After drying it out, I plugged it back in. The battery lights turn on, however the computer will not turn on. I assume the motherboard is fried. I plan on taking it apart tonight.

Hopefully I just have to replace the mobo. xotic and sager are closed at the moment. Any idea on pricing for a replacement mobo? Any input on what I should be looking for during the tear down?

    Thanks!

You should be looking for obvious damage, you can try stripping it down to minimum parts (outside the casing), ie GPU, CPU, one stick of ram with no mobo and an external monitor.

If that does not work then the mobo is fried.

Ok, I took it apart, cleaned all the crap off the motherboard, and got it to start up. My only problem now is that the on board screen won't turn on. I have to use an external monitor. It won't even recognize the on board screen when it try to turn it on via settings. Thoughts?

Either the lcd is damaged, the cable or the drivers (physical circuitry) on the motherboard for the lvds signal.

It may have been residue shorting a connection. Q tips dipped in alcohol are good for cleaning pcbs.

So for the past 1.5 years I have been gaming on the 150em.
I'm currently also building a gaming rig/desktop, and what i am wondering is: What is the ms delay on this screen? I have never seen a laptop screen been announced with this or that ms. Is there a difference in technology?
The reason I am asking, is that I kinda want to go with an IPS display on the desktop, but it has 6ms delay compared to the TN's 1 ms. So I'm just wondering what i have now, to compare?
I have the 95% gamut display, if that matters.

    Thank you.

My thoughts exactly, and since i mostly play LoL, Skyrim, and Civ, I think an IPS display is the best solution.
I just wondered if laptop display have a delay? Or is it another technology ?

They typically have a larger delay as they are tuned for power saving, 8ms is average if i remember correctly.

Hey guys, i was wondering about two thing regarding my bios. first of all should mind updating my bios or not? I wish there was a built in support program so it automatically detected stuff like lenovo laptops and make it convenient...I always regret buying my np9150 straight from the company because their support is brutal and even if you go to their driver section you see that everything is outdated. Annnd, secondly I was wondering if there is a modded bios so that the backlit keyboard is unlocked and apply more effects.
    Thanks :)

Hey guys, Other than the other question i would highly apprectiate it if you guys could help me with this OC problem as im kind of a noob on it :/. First of let me clarify that i dont have a bios mod and so i dont have any OV. But as you see in the picture, i applied about 839core clock and 2050 memory clock, but for some reason its not being applied or something and you can see it in nvidia inspector that "gpu clock"is what ive chosen but current clock hasnt changed. i checked that while playing BF4 and running GPUZ in the background and i see that its just going with the stock clock. Im really frustrated by this and would appreciate any thoughts on this.

What happens if you load the GPU and make it go into the full clock power state that the program is writing to?

What do you mean by full clock power state? Like max the clock to +135 and then try?
Edit: I ve just tried that by playing some bf4 and I see that sometimes it reaches the 800s clock but for some reason it still favors the stock clock, and memory clock doesnt change with the oc and just favors 1000mhz and it doesn't go any further...

I have been looking at Blu Ray drives fr the NP9150 for a while. I was wondering if this would work in mine? http://www.amazon.com/UJ-265-Blu-ra...d=1399867352&sr=1-1&keywords=Panasonic+UJ-265
Also do I need additional software to be able to use it to watch blu ray?

This will work with games as well right? I am not too good with these things, just making sure. Thanks :) If anyone has any other recommendations for a different blu ray drive, go ahead please! All I want is a drive like this where nothing needs to pop out to be able to place a disk in.

Nvidia cards have several power states depending on current load, you will notice that nvidia inspector has different settings for each state as you select them from the drop down menu. The default is obviously the high performance one since that is what most people are interested in.

Oh alright, thanks a tons man.
After messing a lot with the clocks and going through the hassle i realized that I really dont need the oc.. and the stock clock gets me the high performance anyway. This gtx 680m is already a beast :p
    Thanks again for the explanation

Not a problem, you really need to unlock the bios to do anything with overclocking that's worth while anyway.

Which drivers are currently the best for the AMD Radeon 7970? Also, when I press Fn+ the sleep button, sometimes the screen just dims and the computer does not actually go into sleep mode. Any idea what I can do?

Hello all, when trying to (free) upgrade to windows 8.1 from windows 8, I make it through most of the install process before getting a BSOD of Page Fault Found In A Non Paged Area. This has also happened when playing games. Any fix for this? Thanks

Any Windows upgrade will come with the risk of problems if not doing a clean install. I can say that I've been using Windows 8 for almost a couple years now and I have yet to encounter a single issue in using it. There are some software programs that aren't compatible yet, but that's on the software not Microsoft. Windows 8 is now my preferred OS over Win7 and yes even for gaming.

Hey guys I can't get my 3720qm to turbo at the moment, I was recently trying a bit of overclocking with my 7970m but I couldn't raise the clocks as my psu was limiting me so I decided to turn off the turbo and turn down the wattage of my cpu so it would consume less power however when I restarted my laptop xtu said 'the following settings could not be applied successfully: intel turbo boost technology ' and the settings were the same as before but with the wattage down to 45 from 60 so I these back up and reapplied my overclock but now the cpu wont even go past 2.6ghz (non turbo speeds) even though it says it's enabled in xtu, I can't get my head around this, it's like it turned off turbo boost but it's still saying it's on in xtu anyone know what might be going on here? I'm using the prema mod and throttlestop

    Hello!

I have an NP9150 with a 7970m GPU. Is it possible to upgrade to any GTX680m that is on ebay? Or are they different? Will the GPU heatsink for the 7970m work on the GTX680m?

I searched and couldn't find my answer :(

    Thanks! :)

Why do you want to upgrade?

You would need to re pad tye heatsink.

There are graphical problems with some of the games I am currently playing(Wildstar) and enduro causes the lighting to flicker rapidly. Makes it very unplayable. Yes, I can play in DX9, but performance suffers. So, I was looking at switching to the GTX 680M.

When you say I will need to repad the heatsink, can't I just use the pads that I already on the heatsink?

    Thanks :)

I'm thinking the 6990m in my P150HM has finally died. Few times over the last month during normal web browsing the screen has just gone black or green or like static - which comes right after a hard power-off. This morning it happened again, and even after a few minutes powered off, it boots back up with the POST screen all garbled (vertical bars) and boots part-way into Windows before it shuts down 'to prevent a hardware failure'.

When I last checked, I had an upgrade option in the 78XX series, but it didn't seem worth it given the cost. Does anyone ever post a compatible 78XX or even a 6990m in the marketplace - or should I just bite the bullet and look at new? Memory/screen/SSD/HD all seem fine, and the unit performance is still fine for how I use the machine.

    Suggestions appreciated.

The issue is the 6990M seems to have a fairly high failure rate so another one could be risky, especially second hand. There is not a clevo/sager card below the 7970M in the 7xxx series.

    Hey all,

after doing a fresh install of windows 7 on my laptop, I went back to download the drivers, and am missing/cannot find the drivers for the PCI Device and Network Controller. I tried to use the driver disc that came with the laptop but that does not seem to contain the drivers. I can only use ethernet as of now, my computer is not showing connections to wifi networks. Are the drivers online somewhere?

    Thanks!
