That sounds like the wireless or lan (physical ethernet port).

Hmm..I tried it but nothing happened. Is those are the only two drivers with a yellow triangle next to them in the device manager window. Could it be something else?

    Hi guys
    I have a sager P150HM with a core i7 2670qm and an amd hd 6990m
my GPU temperature when playing games like grid auto sport or borderlands 2 and the GPU is at 98-99% reaches up to around 84-85 but at avg around 80-81
but the cpu is what am worried about at idle its between 36-50 when browsing it might reach 66 when gaming like bf4 or bf3 or watch dogs it reaches 85 which o guess a very high temp

I tried cleaning it out and changing thermal paste but the temps only droped by around 5 degrees
so is there anything I can do to reduce these temps ?! coz my last laptop GPU was burned and now am very concerned in temperatures ...

another thing I noticed but I really don't know how to improve it ....so I tried connecting my laptop to an external monitor and I removed the back cover and started a benchmark the temps got around 85 after 5-7 mins and remaind there for 15 mins 84-85 but the odd thing was when I push the GPU heat sink using a pencil the temps drops instantaneously but 4 degrees this only worked with the gpu the cpu didnt change when trying the same think so what is this problem and can I solve it to reduce the GPU`s temps ?! and what about the cpu is there any cooling improvments I can do or any mods to the cooler that might help ?!

    thanks alot

    :hi2:

I've been having wireless issues with my Killer 1103 card for months and finally tracked the issue down to my use of the Prema Bios mod for this model. Thankfully he was able to link me to the stock Sager BIOS for our system which fixed the wireless issues. I had better performance on the stock Mythlogic BIOS though and they seem unwilling to send me any files to get my system back to their BIOS (they want me to ship the system to them to get it flashed there...). Do any of you other Mythlogic Pollux 1612 owners have their awesomely stable BIOS and any install files for them ? I would be forever in your debt to anyone that has an installable version!

It's not the BIOS that fixed the problem but the change of driver... ;)

Yeah the bios is unlikely to impact day to day operation of the card.

    Hello everyone,

I've been having a weird problem with my 150EM. It seems like randomly when I turn on my laptop and boot into windows the caps lock and num lock will beep about once every second for about 30 seconds.. Sometimes it will be shorter than 30 seconds and my computer will immediately shut off.

I'm not sure what's causing it because all of my hardware seems to be working perfectly. HWInfo shows both my RAM sticks working fine, my CPU working fine, my GPU is good. I used Crystaldisk and both my SSD and HDD are fine too.

The beeping doesn't seem to correlate with any particular programs or even temps because it's usually after my laptop has been powered off for a while, and doesnt happen until I boot into windows. My performance is fine too--I play a lot of Dota 2 and Dark Souls 2 for hours with no problems.

    Any ideas?

That is an EC panic caused by a temp sensor loss or over temp.

Should I be concerned about it? Or is there anything I should do?

It's strange to me that it goes off on a cold start up, but not during a long gaming session.

I'd reseat the mxm card as it could be thermal creep and the expansion caused by the system being on and warming up is making the connection secure.

I just bought a used Sager NP9150. I installed Windows 8.1 on it last night and got everything running. Only issue I have is the FN and Windows key are backwards. The Windows key is to the right of the space bar but acts as the FN key. The FN is to the left of the spacebar and acts like windows. Is there any driver or setting to map these keys correctly?

Otherwise the machine is awesome, actually faster than my desktop. Came with a 3740qm and 7970m card. I pulled off a 3dmark11 score of 6745.

Sounds like the person you bought it from had bought the machine with the original keyboard and later had to get a replacement when they swapped those keys around. Unfortunately no way that I know of to swap their mappings.

This thread has been very helpful to me the past few years thanks to the search function. Finally I have a chance to contribute.

I was having a stuttering problem. If I were watching a video or playing a video game the screen would freeze and the audio would stutter for a few seconds. This started a few months ago and got worse over time. What fixed this for me was turning off "enable write caching on the device" under the policies tab of the disk drives properties.

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if i should manually update my hardware drivers such as sound card, wireless card and etc. Im saying that because for no doubt the drivers on the sager's website are extremely outdated. So the only reason im asking this question is that is it better for the laptop to be updated or should i stay on these drivers if im stable on everything.
I would highly appreciate you guys' thoughts on this :)
    Thanks

You can usually leave all the drivers alone if you're not having any issues. The only exception is updated video card drivers which typically will get you a boost in performance.

Not sure if it's a sign of the drive failing but I haven't had a problem since turning off write caching.

Probably not, since it uses ram to cache commands to go to the drive. Perhaps more of a software issue.

Has anyone had issues with a unresponsiveness at boot -- possibly PSU related?

In greater detail: I attempt to turn on the computer after a BSOD. No response except that the power light (far right) goes from steady orange to green (for a few seconds), turns off, blinks green, turns off, and then goes back to steady orange. No sounds or any indication that the laptop is runing (although the drive is SSD). The steady orange light turns off completely if I remove the power cable from the laptop. The battery light shows solid green when it is inserted and turns off when removed.

I've tried resetting the laptop as well as a CMOS reset (by removing the external battery and CMOS battery plug under the keyboard and holding the power button for 30 seconds, and letting the laptop sit unplugged from the battery/AC source/CMOS for 12 hours before reattempting to turn the laptop on).

Are there any other options? In the worst case scenario, how can I begin removing parts (namely a 3720QM and a Radeon 7970) and testing that they are still functional?

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, I couldn't find a way to search this thread.

    Thanks,

    Ben

Have you overclocked anything? It could be having issues with the ram.

Do you have a spare adapter you could borrow? A lower rated one could partially charge the battery.

I don't have a spare adapter. It seems unlikely to be a battery issue since I should be able to start the laptop with the battery removed anyways (aside from battery indicator light being off, removing it doesnt change the behavior). Anyways, the battery light being green seems to suggest the battery is working.

Thanks Hutsady, Sorry for the late appreciation :p
So, I had this other question, My setup is running with 1TB HDD, and i was possibly planning to speed up windows and boot time by having an SSD inserted in the laptop.
However, Im not a tech savvy guy when it comes to hardware and i couldnt find any tutorials on inserting an SSD in the free slot and setting it up, So my questions are:
    1. Does the SSD in NP9150 have special dimensions and does the SSD have to be bought from a retailer or sager necessarily?
    2. I have no clue how to insert it, Is it just like connecting two cables together?
    3. Do I have to backup anything on HDD beforehand or like remove it? Or should i just insert it and go to bios and do sth?
I deeply apologize for my lack of knowledge in this or if this was brought on before through the last 500 pages :/

And of course, I appreciate to hear you guys' insight and recommendations on this, This is by far the most helpful and warm place i found for discussions :)

    Regards
    Salman

No problem at all, happy to help out!
    1. There are not special dimensions needed for the SSD, the bay will fit up to a 2.5" and that is the largest size and most common size for SSD. There are also 1.8", if you get one of those you'll need a mounting adapter which most will come with. But you'll want to double check it comes with it. Or just go with a 2.5" to make things easy. It does not have to be purchased anywhere specific, there isnt anything proprietary about the connection.
    2. There are no cables to connect. The drive will slide right into the SATA connection. It will only fit right one way, so just make sure its correct and it will slide in.
    3. You may have to back up info from the HDD depending on what you're going to do. There is only 1 2.5" HDD bay in the NP9150 and an open mSATA slot. If you plan on removing the HDD completely and replacing it with a 2.5" SSD then you can transfer your files over after you install the SSD. It would be best to get an mSATA and put that in the open slot. Then you can have that and your current HDD in there. mSATA and SSD are the same technology but different sizes and motherboard connections. When looking at new drives make sure to get a mSATA.

Let us know if any other questions come up. Glad to hear NBR is treating you well :)

So a couple of weeks ago the rooftop of the apartment complex got struck by lightning, and I at the time I had my NP9150 plugged in via a surge protector. Unfortunately, something must have gone wrong with the protector because after that strike both my HDMI and Ethernet ports did not work, and they still don't. Oddly enough, everything seems to be fine (USB ports work, DVI is fine, etc). Does anyone know if it is possible to repair just those ports if I send it in for repair? Or will the repair process involve replacing the entire mobo? I'm not familiar with the setup of the mobo so I'm not sure - I was told by a local repair shop that I would have to replace the entire mobo but I find that hard to believe, I feel like this should be a fairly trivial repair... Any clarification is appreciated, thanks!

Also, if I do send it in for repair, is it best to contact Sager directly or contact the reseller I bought it from (Xotic)? Or would this be possible to do myself? Any suggestions? Thanks again!

Not exactly an easy fix to make ports work due to electrical damage. Will likely require replacing the entire board. Go ahead and get in touch with our service team. They'll get you on the right track.

    Hi all,

I have a 2.5 year old 9150 that's been running into trouble recently. I was getting occasional blue screens and or messages that the display driver had timed out. I tried installing new drivers but it didn't seem to help. Shortly afterward, things got worse. Upon startup the computer would run for ~30 seconds and shut down. The same thing happened regardless of whether I started windows normally, did startup repair, or went into the BIOS. My searches led me to believe it was an overheating issue so I tried repasting the heat sinks. There were no immediate results, but I saw another post about removing the battery and tried that, which worked. The computer stayed on for ~5 minutes and then shut down. Ever since, it has gone back to shutting down immediately after 30 seconds. I left the back open and noticed that the CPU fan turns on for 1-2 seconds at startup but then immediately stops, so I'm still thinking it might be some sort of overheating issue. Anyone have any advice on where to go from here?

    Thanks!

Try re seating as suggested and give it another physical inspection (check the fan is plugged in too) however if all that stuff is sorted then it's likely the gpu has failed.

Anyone know the best place to buy parts for this laptop? My computer was used regularly for 2 years and my case basically cracked. Also my quadcopter took a hit to the front lid as well. I need a completely new case and I feel the quote I got from my dealer was a tad high. Maybe someone can help me score the parts I need. Computer is still living up perfectly with 16gb's of ram and the 680m
